@Shan Kanis: So you'd rather have the same old Gilgamesh and have him grow stale and boring instead of having them try something new every once in a while to keep things interesting. Plus would the usual Gilgamesh fit in this world, no it wouldn't so it's either keep the old fans happy and throw out the entire theme of the dlc or try something new and see what happens while keep in line with the rest of the dlc.
different character than the crazy guy who travels through worlds (FF worlds) to find swords sad how they just made him a basic character here instead of the dimension-travelling madman

Same. The concept of him being a one-armed swordman alone is neat. I do think they missed out on an opportunity to have him grow four more arms, but still, this is not a bad Gilgamesh, simply a different one.
I would have preferred at the end, as acknowledging Gladiolus's might, he summons his arms and blades. But I like his design here, because it is different and fitting for where it takes place. I'll always like classic Gilgamesh over this one, but he's good too.
Joel The Pizza Wizard I liked this one, too. Not for the physical look of him, but for the attitude. I've had enough of silly Gilgamesh. A serious, dignified one is a nice change of pace. I agree that he should have grown the other 6/7 arms. Maybe as his HP dropped, he'd sprout more?

Yeah, still can't get over how perfectly the music matches up with the first cutscene at 1:31 & 3:30 when Gilgamesh goes all out. Best parts of the boss battle
This Gilgamesh isn't like the traditional Gilgamesh because he's part of FFXV's story. Supposedly he was shield to the first king of Lucis many years ago and somehow ended up in this cave unlike the traditional Gilgamesh who travels through different dimensions. So yeah of course he's alot different than the old Gilgamesh because he's part of FFXV's dark story. The sword he uses during the fight and gives to Gladio at the end is also the same sword Cor used to cut his arm off when he first fought him if im not mistaken
Sagman Twelve I like to think that he is also a cousin/brother of the first king of lucis. It helps me justify his powers and powerful ability to use a magic arm and sword
I like this Gilgamesh more. He is very mysterious and godly looking. I like to think this is Gilgamesh in his final form after years to traveling through dimensions and settled down in Lucis years ago and became friends with the first King and learned how to be like this instead of his goofy self.
@King Crow holy shit it took you 3 messages to try and get your point across and it's nothing but rabid hate for no reason lmao. You can also edit your posts to fix spelling mistakes.
I love this Gilgamesh. I mean, peoples change over a decade, Gilgamesh lived probably milenia by that point. No way he will be the same goof he was in FF V. I like to imagine through how much he passed, to become this personality he is now. SE could make entire game after him, showing the way how he grow from a goof to that person.
@@juliansenni6279Hmm, you sound sure he is different person. Is that somewhere stated? I am not looking for some heated argument, lol, just curious. I do not know whole lots of things about FF games. Reason I believe he is the same is more about FF patern I see through games. Cid, Biggs, Wedge and the summons through the games are different personages having the same name. But Gilgamesh, he had memories of his original world. Yes, not in XV, but in other games he had. So, following that patern, I assume that is the very same Gilgamesh, who is milenia or two older, and much more mature as person. But of course, I have no hard proves or official SE statements, is rather my head canon. Edit: I am glad you like my idea :D.
>People angry because SE tried to do something different with Gilgamesh instead of just rehashing the same old character The problem is the Gilgamesh they'd been using wouldn't fit either the tone or theme of this game, so they remade the character into someone different. Twenty bucks says if they used the old one people would've complained about him being unfitting or not matching XV's atmosphere.
Fans of a game series known for changing drasticaly from one game to another are angry because they tried soemthing new with a character. This makes sense.
I really love how in final fantasy there are some legendary/mythical creatures that have been around since the beginning of everything and because the worlds of every game differs they take on a different shape. And they always serve a purpose and I even believe they are aware of that. I don't have solid proof of that, it's just a gut feeling I got from every godly being, esper etc. from all final fantasy games I've played so far. Have I mentioned that they're so mysterrriouusss. We never get to know any specifics about them.
Well I believe most recurring characters are connected to the crystals that choose the heroes. Maybe some like cid are guides to the characters own destinies or some shit.
In ffxv comrades there is Gilgamesh as a boss battle and it is way cooler to fight him there He has more moves And there are different weapons on the ground where he summons them and does his attacks
People shit on this Gilgamesh but I like him I think it's because I don't see him being the good old Gil (who is still better) but as a new one plus I do like the design very dark souls like
I would say that the old Gil isn't even necessarily "better", just different. Our familiar Gil is bombastic and hammy in a gloriously juicy way. This Gil is more subdued and collected, a more serious (and menacing) blademaster. Overall, I feel New Gil is a better fit for the FFXV world than Old Gil. But yeah, oh boy, I'm getting some serious Dark Souls vibes from him and the combat.
The funny thing is at the time of making my first comment I had played 120 hours of FFXV in the span of a month during November and December of 2017. Completely forgot what a Yojimbo was.
I choose to view this as Gilgamesh's last chronological appearance whereas Type-0 is his first. With the explanation for his changed demeanor being that after traveling around for so long he landed in XV's world 2000 years ago and befriended the first king after taking an interest in his armiger. After that when Ardyn went over to the dark side or if he was his brother's shield when he died Gilgamesh probably became depressed and chose to make XV his final resting place and became less bombastic as result of losing his friend. Every character has a development arc so why not Gilgamesh? Personally really liked this one.
I dunno about ya’ll but I found this to be pretty inspiring 😢 Gladio never gives up even when the odds are stacked against him. This was a very moving battle for me
In this universe many 'Gods' don't exist. There are only six and unless Square introduce them in the game later on as DLCs or updates (highly unlikely) the number won't be affected.
Yeah, wish there were more summons, but it’s clear that they wanted you to be able to actually take down enemies on your own instead of abusing summons like in previous games. Like what’s the point of all the buildup to a fight if I can just summon a tonberry to kill anything in my way?
Throughout all the DLCs that dropped for this game, I gotta say my favorite was this fight and Ardyn Vs King Regis, simple 1v1s that aren’t too op and realistically scaled in level for the characters are interesting and entertaining, like Ardyn and Regis both possessing the same Lucis abilities with the Armiger and more, and like Gladio and Gilgamesh both being skillfully great blade masters, stuff like that is fun
Because of this Gilgamesh I was interested in a character I never knew that would be goofy and yet serious about fighting strong opponents to take there weapons as his trophy. This Gilgamesh is a different do to 15 being different I wish for him to have trance of goofy stuff but at the same time this fight kinda kool
Gilgamesh: Hold up, Gladious: What the-- Gilgamesh teleports them both to a big bridge. Epic music starts playing in the background Gilgamesh: Now this is more like it!
I find this version of Gilgamesh conflicts with the one we know and love from Dissidia and previous titles. Perhaps it would have been more fitting to recast Siegfried from Final Fantasy VI in the role of Blademaster. The handicap of losing an arm would actually be a hindrance to him.
"You dare to christen this buffoon with the glorious name of Gilgamesh? This disrespect is mockery of the highest order! When I am through with you there wont be a single bone shard left of your counterfeiting cranium, mongrel!" - True Hero of Heroes, Gilgamesh.
Every Gilgamesh is the same Gilgamesh. Sometimes he just needs to adapt differently to the world he's in. Most often times he can be his normal goofy self, other times he'll take on a different persona. Like how in FF9 he takes on the appearance and mannerisms of a multi-armed treasure hunter kid, or in F11 where he also looks completely different and is a pirate. FF15's universe is more serious than most others so he adapted accordingly.
Well in 15 everyone dies. Not much fun (happily ever after in the afterlife yes, real world no). On the top of my head the happiest one for both the general public and the PCs is either 9 or 1. The only reason why FF is not adult is because it doesn't have highly detailed gruesome deaths.
Alright so here is my though on this, since a lot are saying this isn't the real Gilgamesh what if Gilgamesh somehow got stuck in FF15 time line for 2,000 years(if I'm correct) and like in two other final fantasy games he just adapts to the world and walks among the people there hence why he doesn't have his 6-8 arms and his usual personality as again he has at adapt to FF15's world. He has yet to return to the void or be pulled back in as well in this world he had a job to do that being the trail master for the kings shield and to see who is worthy or not and that once this worlds conflict is over he'll return to the void and will most likely heal himself there as in FF5 he survived being blown up by magic so safe to say he could regenerate an arm in the void if he where to return . And also like Noctis said his father had said Gilgamesh had a firecracker personality meaning Gilgamesh was very much the same back then until he started to become more serious with what was going on. But we won't know till FF16 if they ever make one .-. And if he shows up somehow in it we'll know, but that's just shooting an idea that I've thought of out there.
He's not the same Gilgamesh. In the final fantasy 15 universe Gilgamesh never caught Bartz and is only part of the 15 universe and was a shield to the first king of lucis
I kind of think this Gilgamesh it's one down the line...but very far indeed, like really old, ruthless, cynic...and not so funny as in previous games. It could be the Gilgamesh we can find at the end of his travels, as if FFXV is the last universe he will travel to.
What a way to end. After hopping down the hole through various side stories and making a name for himself in Dissidia, Gilgamesh ends his tenure and aquisition of 5 of 6 arms in a world that sees the end of a royal line.
Knowing final fantasy fans I can't wait till they moan and bitch about how Bahamut,Ifrit,Shiva and Gilgamesh were way *better* in FFXV then they will be in the inevitable FF16.
This Gilgamesh is fine, my favorite even. People who hate it because he’s not the old Gilgamesh need to pull the nostalgia stick out of their ass and realize things change and not always for the worse.
While I was fighting him, all I was thinking was..."Did tabata just replaced the most iconic thing about Gilgamesh and rendered him to just one arm?" Lol
so this dollar store Gilgamesh? man.. Keith Szarabajka and John DiMaggio did so much effort and justice on voice acting into bringing the character alive and being fan favorite in Final Fantasy lore
Based on the personas of all prior Gilgameshs', i cant say that i agree with calling this one a true Gilgamesh since he is so vastly different from the other incarnations prior.
I really love this boss fight!! I don’t understand why the hate on this dlc i too wished if it has some of gladio’s lore or something bout his past but it’s still fun , gladio doesn’t need to change!! He just needed to get stronger and he did got stronger after getting jumped many times in this dlc lol he’s a good character
This Gilgamesh is better, if you take a look you overpower Gilgamesh yet he rises without problem it shows he was testing gladiolus and the shields before
The whole deal of Gilg is he being a goof who wields a bunch of swords at once and travels between dimensions. This guy is the absolute opposite of all that. If it wasnt for the music and name absolutely no one would guess this is him. That's not how references work, SE.
So people apparently really don't like how Gil is shown in this game. While it would've been nice to see goofy, dumbass Gilgamesh, this Gilgamesh fits this game far better and it actually made him seem like an actual threat, rather than a loveable pseudo-joke boss.

Yep ;)
Actually a dark souls 3 gameplay would have elevate this fight by order of magnitude

"I kneel before no man!"
Doesn't he serve the king? Isn't kneeling part of his job?
😆
I had a comment but then was like "nah, I'll leave things cleanish"
Gladio just needs to bow to the king. No Kneel really.
Darkbeast42 he stands with the king.. he doesnt kneel
He serves as the king’s shield. His job is to stand by Noct and protect him with his life
And after all this, he rejoins the party with absolutely no change
Yeah, but that scar, though.
Ooooooh! Mystery!
yea.... which just makes it feel like they came up with this story out nowhere....and obviously... that's what they did
RINKU was it not explained in the dlc?
Ninty Julius not really, it seems like they planned it cuz he randomly got a scar and so they showed how he got it

@@thesupershinymegagengar2034 Not really. You see Gilgamesh in a FF game, it's pretty much a given that it's the guy from FF5.
I like the goofball Deadpool-esque Gilgamesh we are all used to. But I like this one just as well. He is awesome in his own right.
i think kefka was more deadpoolish
i dont even remember any time except World of FF where he was even slightly deadpoolish
When he said "I didn't come here to die" I was expecting him to say afterward "I came to find out if I'm truly alive"
Gilgamesh: Hold up,
Gladious: What the--
Gilgamesh teleports them both to a big bridge.
Epic music starts playing in the background
Gilgamesh: Now this is more like it!
I find this version of Gilgamesh conflicts with the one we know and love from Dissidia and previous titles. Perhaps it would have been more fitting to recast Siegfried from Final Fantasy VI in the role of Blademaster. The handicap of losing an arm would actually be a hindrance to him.
The thing is this gilgamesh isn't the one were use to it was the guard of the first king and has a place in the lore of 15
"You dare to christen this buffoon with the glorious name of Gilgamesh? This disrespect is mockery of the highest order! When I am through with you there wont be a single bone shard left of your counterfeiting cranium, mongrel!"
- True Hero of Heroes, Gilgamesh.
I was hoping through that dlc that the real Gilgamesh would appear out of no where and challenge you to a fight
why is this the only fate reference I am seeing in the comment section?
The music, man! It's Battle on the Big Bride all over again! :D
Holy sh*t! They brought back his theme!
This shit made me respect Cor so much he was truly humbled
Every Gilgamesh is the same Gilgamesh. Sometimes he just needs to adapt differently to the world he's in. Most often times he can be his normal goofy self, other times he'll take on a different persona. Like how in FF9 he takes on the appearance and mannerisms of a multi-armed treasure hunter kid, or in F11 where he also looks completely different and is a pirate. FF15's universe is more serious than most others so he adapted accordingly.
“You are strong - Yet so long as fear binds your heart...”
Am I seriously the only one here who thinks Gilgamesh looks like Dr. Doom?
One-armed Dr. Doom.
Why can't reality be exciting as this?
Well in 15 everyone dies. Not much fun (happily ever after in the afterlife yes, real world no).
On the top of my head the happiest one for both the general public and the PCs is either 9 or 1.
The only reason why FF is not adult is because it doesn't have highly detailed gruesome deaths.
Isaac Matthews everybody in 15 does not die the fuck did you get that conclusion from?
This Gilgamesh is badass and very relatable. The regular Gilgamesh is funny as hell
Yes both are different versions of the character and each have their own flaws
I keep dying. I have 2 hi-potions, 7 potions and no phoenix downs. Life sucks.
Git gud. There's healing items all over the damn place in there
Keep your Phoenix downs I've noticed that the bosses before him are much easier cuz they have a pattern old Gil here does not at times
This 'Battle on the Big Bridge' rendition is pretty nice and fits the tone of this setting even though I prefer the XIII-2 version myself.
And if he shows up somehow in it we'll know, but that's just shooting an idea that I've thought of out there.
after 10 phoenix downs and 50 potions I guess anyone can beat Gil
this has to be the oldest Gilgamesh has ever been. he's grown up.. especially after loosing 7 of his arms. he's cool and collective now.
He's not the same Gilgamesh. In the final fantasy 15 universe Gilgamesh never caught Bartz and is only part of the 15 universe and was a shield to the first king of lucis
CakeIsTasty- yy I'm pretty sure he's the same old Gilgamesh
Uhhh, no. Same Gilgamesh.
hotrodfirebird is this the same Gilgamesh from 8?
It's already been confirmed long ago that this is ffxv's own version of Gilgamesh, not the same one from the previous games
It really bugs me that Gladio doesn’t even bleed when he gets sliced across the forehead
You know that saberlasers make slices without blood? Its because it cautalizes wounds from the heat. A flaming katana should make the same effect.
I swear this game put more effort into the sword swinging animations than anything else jfc
Cool character but I understand why people complain, he's not Gilgamesh.
Well, its because FF XV tone seem to be a bit serious(in Gladio dlc) so I guess they can't use our favourite dimension leaping goofy samurai.
Tweetug 36 but they did :( should've just used some other character then and not call him gilgamesh
Gilgamesh before FF15 = Sonic The Hedgehog, goofy, confident and fun!
Gilgamesh in FF15 = Shadow the Hedgehog, edgy just tryhard edgy
When playing as gladio don't hesitate to use the shield, the damage boost you get could be upto 4 times.
"G" for ¡¡¡GENDETTA!!! Gilgamesh voice is so cool!
Knowing final fantasy fans I can't wait till they moan and bitch about how Bahamut,Ifrit,Shiva and Gilgamesh were way *better* in FFXV then they will be in the inevitable FF16.
HAHAHAHA! THIS IS SO TRUE!
Definitely true lol
You were saying?
4:55 looked cool
you know what i’d love to see? episode cor
This Gilgamesh is fine, my favorite even. People who hate it because he’s not the old Gilgamesh need to pull the nostalgia stick out of their ass and realize things change and not always for the worse.
So why don't we see this sword once he comes back?
After beating the DLC, you unlock the sword and you can equip it for Gladio.
We actually see him use it to finish against one of the possessed kings when Noctis and the gang go up against Ardyn.
This talk of valor and masculinity is like something out of self-help booklet. Let's just build a monument to destruction.
Noctis: What can I say? I'm worth the wait
*in the corner crying remembering kingsglaive*
this looks a lot like a Dark Souls fight.
Gilgamesh from FFXII is the best for me, but this is good too.
The ffxii Gilgamesh theme is even more epic
Gilgamesh, why so serious?!
This dude actually uses the battle system. I cheesed this fight as much as I could.
Bartz: Gilgamesh, what the heck just happened to you?
Such epic music.
Finally a Gilgamesh who isn't comic relief
If you're coming to a ff game expecting a gilgamesh that inst comic relief, you are coming to the wrong place
Can we get a Diamond Weapon boss fight. I will pay for THAT
Let's be honest, no version would beat the ffxii gilgsmesh.
While I was fighting him, all I was thinking was..."Did tabata just replaced the most iconic thing about Gilgamesh and rendered him to just one arm?" Lol
Aaron Duran Not to mention the theme. For fucks sake, the theme... He took Gilgamesh and throttled him.
Look at 0:28, (there is a close up shot of Gilgamesh and gladiolus standing side by side) he is almost twice gladio’s height.
so this dollar store Gilgamesh?
man.. Keith Szarabajka and John DiMaggio did so much effort and justice on voice acting into bringing the character alive and being fan favorite in Final Fantasy lore
Battle at the Big Bridge: NieR edition
Nobuo Uematsu approved of Keiichi Okabe's rendition
I'm new to final fantasy, FF15 is the first one I've played and beaten, and I was wondering if someone can explain why some ppl didn't like the dlc.
I love the game myself but most people are angry because they had to pay for parts of the story
This is probably the only "Clash on the Big Bridge" that I like!
@@loerzo8710 What you mean?
This went from FF to Dark Souls boss fight
I thought he was gonna do a Dark Souls 3 backstab finisher at 2:39 lol
Ok so this is what Gladio was doing when we went with Areana. When do the episodes for Specs and Prompto take place?
Ignis, parallel to the episode 9, and Prompto to the episode 12, if I'm not wrong (and I think Comrades happens between 13 and 14)
I don't give a fuck for your Nostalgia.
He still a weapon collector, and got a sick new design and battle. He's way better than the old Gilgamesh.
Gilgamesh lost the opportunity to say "It's morphing time" when his left arm appears
Odin or Yojimbo would have worked better
Would have, but we can already fight Yojimbo in the base game of 15.
Surprised gilgamesh didn't get any dlc or game considering he has lots of camos
I know im surprised there hasn't been a main game about him or a spinoff hell they could have made him playable here
"It's morphin' time!"
-Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh and Gladio could wield greatswords with one hand.
Something Noct could never do.
Now that was an epic.
Based on the personas of all prior Gilgameshs', i cant say that i agree with calling this one a true Gilgamesh since he is so vastly different from the other incarnations prior.
Just fought this dude and it was 100% like playin the dark souls boss with the epic ass music dlc so much fun
“Mom can we have Gilgamesh?”
“We already have Gilgamesh at home”
*Gilgamesh at home=*
I really love this boss fight!! I don’t understand why the hate on this dlc i too wished if it has some of gladio’s lore or something bout his past but it’s still fun , gladio doesn’t need to change!! He just needed to get stronger and he did got stronger after getting jumped many times in this dlc lol he’s a good character
I really like this theme song. Anyone know the name?
KazumaMikura *battle on the big bridge*.... there are many different versions so remember to put XV
KazumaMikura Battle on the big bridge the bad version
@@dolphinboi-playmonsterranc9668 Nice joke kid
This Gilgamesh is better, if you take a look you overpower Gilgamesh yet he rises without problem it shows he was testing gladiolus and the shields before
The whole deal of Gilg is he being a goof who wields a bunch of swords at once and travels between dimensions.
This guy is the absolute opposite of all that. If it wasnt for the music and name absolutely no one would guess this is him. That's not how references work, SE.
This is like comparing Kratos fro god of war 3 to Kratos from god of war 4. Same character but grown up.
Does anybodyelse dotice how gladious was holding his weapon the way sora does from kingdom hearts
I did. It was really suprising.
Thanks for uploading this, saves me the money seriously..
So people apparently really don't like how Gil is shown in this game.
While it would've been nice to see goofy, dumbass Gilgamesh, this Gilgamesh fits this game far better and it actually made him seem like an actual threat, rather than a loveable pseudo-joke boss.
Love this version of Battle on the Bridge.
4:54 gladio said: you only scratched the surface literally
I like the comedic Gilgamesh but then again I like this guys armor
How long it took to realize they battle in a bridge?
