    Check out the mystery of history! Maybe for when they’re older but it intertwines biblical history so that our kids see that the Bible is relevant and actually happened.

      I was going to suggest the same thing! The first book for sure is great little chunks for the little guys. We are are starting it next year with my kiddos who will be in PreK, 1st and 8th grade. I have done it in past with my oldest who is now 20 years old!
      Also if math doesn’t work out for you try the good and the beautiful math K ….. you can download and print out the first week or so to see if you like it. My kindergartener loves it though we do math u see primer as well.

    We also do Bible Stories for history with our preschoolers and kindergarteners. You can find good children’s Bibles at Hobby Lobby. We are Catholic so as they get older we use a Catholic Children’s Bible. My 10 year old is beginning the study of the gospels for Faith Studies, from a regular Bible this year. I usually do Bible studies with the little ones for history until about 1st grade and then I switch to keeping the Bible and Catechism as Faith studies and we add history as a separate subject at which point I do American folk stories.

    I love that you want to teach your children apologetics! I feel the same way . Teaching our children the history of the Bible and Jesus Christ is so important just as much as having a relationship with Him!

    Tip for getting him to write with a pencil. Have him hold a small rubber ball in the palm if his writing hand as he is writing his letters. He may view the challenge as a game. Bonus...that also trains them to hold the pencil the correct way.

    Late to the party, but I love this! We're a homeschool family as well, and we loved the Brain Quest books. And you're absolutely right - allow them to stretch. My son is 9 and breezing through 5th grade work. They can definitely do it when we give them the options. 💙

    I love your take on teaching the Bible as a history book and also reading the actual story while they color, definitely going to remember that! You mentioned the pencil is a problem, try a golf pencil or a really small pencil. I heard that helps with grip if it that doesn’t help maybe the hand muscles aren’t strong enough yet. I saw a teacher use a “push pin activity” to build the hand muscles in her students bc most kids are so use to swiping a screen. You can find the printouts for the push pin activities online 😁 I hope that help. ☺️

    • @KaylaElizabeth
      @KaylaElizabeth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely think it’s the hand muscles. We’ve started playing some games that require a large hand tweezer, doing some scissor work and it’s helped a ton. I’m going to look up the push pin idea. Sounds interesting, thank you 😊

    I tell my kids that Santa, Easter bunny, tooth fairy are ‘for fun’. Like “oh yea Santa! He’s something fun at Christmas time!”.
    That way when they’re ready to catch on they can without it being a big deal or feel like they’ve been tricked.
    Because I completely agree. If I put a bunch of effort into getting my kids to think any of that is real I’m afraid it’ll taint their faith in God.

    • @vickih5405
      @vickih5405 ปีที่แล้ว

    My homeschooling twin! Lol we have the same mindset when it comes to choosing curriculum. My youngest two sons are 4 and 6, and we're also using Explode the Code, Teach Your Child to Read, Handwriting w/o Tears, some workbooks (DK ones)...I almost chose Horizons, but we go between Mathseeds and Math U See Primer (I'll switch to Saxon in 1st grade). I use TH-cam cvc, ABC, counting videos if I'm helping older ones. They like IXL too as a supplement occasionally. We love the library. We love art. We only do like 4 things a day or more if they want. Thank you for this video! 💕

    Hi!
    My son struggled with writing too until...😃😃😃 I let him choose between, pen, colored pencil, marker or pencil.
    Made 100% difference!
    Now a year later he used mostly only pencil because, he sees the benefit of being able to erase easily if he makes a mistake.👍
    Looking back for us I think it was a motivation thing and being able to pick his writing utensil helped to motivate him.
    We totally teach the Bible with the same idea! Although we watch videos and do a daily devotional. So excited for your school year!
    I'm going to check out ur bible books. Thanks!

    • @KaylaElizabeth
      @KaylaElizabeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Im pretty sure it’s difficult for him because his hand muscles are still developing. Ive been allowing him to do a lot of scissor work and we’ve been playing games that require large hand tweezers . He doesn’t complain as quickly so I think his endurance is improving. 🤗
      What are some of your favorite devotionals? I definitely still want our Faith to feel/seem approachable so I will eventually introduce some family devotional time. 🤎

    Love your choices! It might help your oldest to play with things like tweezers to strengthen his hands. Or writing with a golf pencil. My son struggled too and someone gave me that advice for writing. It helped a lot.
    And I REALLY agree with your viewpoint of making the Bible a fantasy. I love reading directly from the Bible. Definitely going to implement that.

    • @KaylaElizabeth
      @KaylaElizabeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      We actually started playing games that require large hand tweezers and that helped along with scissor work! What is a golf pencil? 🤔 I may try it out. I purchased little finger grippers to help him hold the pencil correctly but I think we will focus on increasing hand strength and endurance for now before focusing on finger placement.

    I just found this video. I'm starting with two boys as well, 3 and 5 years-old. I felt like I was watching myself, but a bit more organized! 😂 My 5yo does exactly what you described LJ does with trying to spell in the air. I already chose the same math you got -- how did you like it?

      I struggled with the math in the beginning. I felt like it was a slow start because he already knew a lot of it. Once we got past the things he knew it grew on me! We started, new to him, concepts and it was a bit more challenging in a good way. I ended up going with the same math for our second year! He’ll be doing First grade math with confidence

    So I need to get them started My 4 year old loves to learn and my 3 year old likes to play play so I loved your approach.
    Have any suggestions of where to work part time that’s legit all at home jobs have been scams for me.

      Thank you for watching! 🤎 Unfortunately I don’t really have any recommendations for wfh jobs. My job was in office for the first few years until covid sent everyone home. We never had to go back in office so everything just kind of fell in place for me. Wish I had a more helpful answer 😫

    My son struggles with the pencil too

      Crayons have worked so well for us. It’s easier for them to hold and has built up their hand strength. (Along with other activities I’ve made sure to include in our day to day). We are now using Golf pencils as well. they still prefer crayons but we’ve seen great improvement.

    Do I need instructor guide with the student work book for kindergarten math with confidence? Thank you

    • @KaylaElizabeth
      @KaylaElizabeth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! The instructor guide has the actual lessons, activities and instructions. The workbook is usually just 1-2 pages of reinforcement. I believe the instructor guide is necessary for that curriculum.

    Did you use anything for history or science?

    • @KaylaElizabeth
      @KaylaElizabeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not use a designated curriculum for either. We approached our Bible lessons as history. Our science was more so interest led. I found books at 5 below. What on Earth: Water, What on Earth: Wind and What on Earth: Trees. They can be found on Amazon as well. Those books had great hands on experiments that my boys loooved to do. For example we made an anemometer that’s still standing strong 😂, “clouds in a jar” was pretty cool. We went on a lot of nature walks and whenever they asked me random questions (like what’s my heart made of? Why do spiders need 8 legs and ants only need 6🤦🏾‍♀️) I ran with it 😂 Those questions always led to “science units” for us.

      I do not. I know a few of the apps we use offer online curriculum but we just use their games.
