Thank you for sharing this update. I have a soon to be four year old who is a quick learner. I’m hoping that MWC will be a good fit for her. I plan to use TGTB with her too because I have been using this curriculum with my son since he was in grade 4. He is now in grade 6. KEEP SHINING!😊

I understand you with regards to Math With Confidence. My little one also flew through the first several lessons because I had been homeschooling her officially since age 3 when she showed interest, and she picks up math pretty easily. HOWEVER I didn't mind sticking with the curriculum itself. The start that she was familiar with felt like review and built confidence, and she wasn't bored with it. If your son is feeling bored doing the workbook pages, you could have him complete only some of the problems for each lesson, or have him complete them orally after you read it to him (i.e. he doesn't see it written down), so it feels like he's practicing doing mental math (a bit more challenging usually than seeing the problem himself and solving it). Try that and see if that helps take the boredom out. And of course, if you feel the need to skip ahead, do so. Since you like the curriculum's approach, I'd encourage you to try at least the first challenging lessons for your son to see how you feel about it. Hang in there momma! We stay editing our approach to things in this homeschool life. 😅

On a second thought... you could also look at preview pages of Math with Confidence Grade 1 to see if that's more at your son's level. I just remembered that for Math, my daughter is a year ahead of the grade she's "supposed to be" in based on her age. So when she was supposed to be in Pre-K we were using MwC Kindergarten, and now that she's supposed to be in Grade 1 we're using MwC Grade 2.

We are doing TGTB LA and MWC for our Kindergartener as well. I can see how Math with Confidence could be slow or too gentle for some little ones. However, even with it being gentle it’s also deeper and builds a good number sense. For example, the lesson about squares..my daughter knew that but she didn’t know about right angles and not did I think to teach that to her. So, I feel good knowing it strengthening that foundation. 😊 someone shared with me this workbook that fits perfectly with MWC K. It’s not available on Amazon anymore but maybe someplace else. Anyways, thanks for sharing.

This was really helpful! I have two preschoolers currently, but I plan to begin homeschooling my oldest for Kindergarten next year. I love all of the supplemental activities you've planned for your kiddos. I'll be returning often to your video as a reference. Thank you!!!

My boys love when I pull the stamps out 🤗 their writing and hand strength has improved so much but they still really enjoy choosing ink colors and using the stamps

They are from Amazon! They are listed as pine trees but from now until Dec I’m going to call them Christmas trees 😂 Thanks for watching. 🤎

I watched your other video on the curriculum you were choosing. I really liked the approach you were planning on taking on teaching them the Bible, but I was wondering how are you liking it so far? Is there anything else you implemented as well or changed? Thank you so much in advance!

      Long response loading 😂
I ended up using two books by “Tiny Truths”. I would read a story and do some sort of arts and craft with it. For example when we read about Joseph we made the coat with colorful noodles. We made trumpets when we talked about the walls of Jherico. I wanted to have a soft intro that they would find enjoyable. After whatever artsy thing we do I go into the who, what, when, where and why. We focused on the time period, the region of the world, what life was like then and what foods they would have eaten, what types of jobs were available, what was considered culturally acceptable etc. Literally a history lesson but simplified for their age group. Then I would talk about the theme of the story or what they were supposed to take from it (This was more of a discussion with leading questions) That was it! One story would take about a week depending on how in depth we went. One lesson crossed over into science because we tried to make unleavened bread. It was an epic fail but they had so much fun 😂 My goal is for them to view the people of the Bible as people who lived long ago and not as “characters”. My hope is that when we get into bigger themes it won’t feel like some magical story we are reading. I really hope this makes sense and was helpful.
sn: I definitely learned a lot preparing things for our Bible lessons. I ended up doing a lot of research that I probably wouldn’t have done otherwise 🫣

@@KaylaElizabeth Thank you so much for replying! And that sounds like so much fun, even as a grown up 😂 Is there any particular place/book you researched the extra stuff at?
I'm trying to see what route I take with my littles, I have a 6yr old and a 1 yr old, so the age difference is a little different. But I am hoping that we can do it together so they can both learn 💛

How do you help your child with the sounds of each letter if you as a parent struggles. I work with Carrie outside of school to help keep her on track, but I struggle with letters sounds. I don’t want Carrie to struggle with reading because I did. She really doesn’t care for the letter sound videos on TH-cam.

My oldest picks up on everything pretty quickly especially if it’s in song form.He knew his letters and sounds by 3. That made reading a bit easier. My youngest doesn’t really care for musical assistance and he is learning the sounds at a slower pace. We just go over the sounds (often) when doing various letter activities that require movement. I have to make up games for him and with Pinterest it’s not as hard as it seems. Every kid is different. The key I think is figuring out how they learn best and giving them the information in that learning style.
