I’ve watched lots of middle eastern and southwest Asian workers in my travels. Amazingly dedicated laborers and craftsmen and women, making the most of what they have. A theme seems to always be an economy of efforts though, work smarter not harder? Frankly surprised to see the engine block demo with sledge hammers. A large diy bandsaw seems more the solution I’d expect. Still amazing production.

I’ve not long had a similar roof fitted and very happy with it, my only beef is there’s a lot of noise when it rains even with extra sound proofing added as it does a lot in the UK.

вначале показали мужика бьющего блок кувалдой. потом процес плавления, литья, проточки, покраски. а мужик все лупит кувалдой и края не видно :-D

Сверхрабский труд , работа расколенным металлом в тапочках это уже что-то. Столько тяжелых операций, просто в голове не укладывается. Цена за тормозного барабана должно быть не менее 5 раз дороже . Нужно спросить кто пользовался с такими барабанами , как они себя ведут ,- износ , при нагревании на спусках .
Они сами и пользуются в Индии.

I am unease just watching them. Long sleeves around lathe, flipflops at furnace, when molten material is on the ground, same as they are dismantling casts - no gloves. No safety googles with angle grinder, no breathing masks... absolute no selfperservance instinct. That "garage" is just a place where accident is waiting to happen. Not talking about "product"... which wouldnt, coudlnt and MUSNT pass any of safety and quality standards. If the guys there are willing and would wear it, i am willing to send them equipment to wear.
Я работаю токарем уже 25 лет. Материал обработки: сталь, чугун, алюминий. Диаметр обработки от 40 до 1750 мм. Допуск обработки по чертежам доходит до 0 - 0,03 мм.
Литейное производство мне знакомо, работая кузнецом доверяли ковку сплав Р18, сварщиком - сдал допуск на потолочную сварку.
Смотря это видео я впал в ступор от вида измерительных инструментов, условия работы и станков. И этот тормозной барабан будет работать?

Красочкой покрасили и норм ) К слову сказать, это всего лишь тормозной барабан, а не ступица. допуски довольно широкие могут быть.

A simple truck bottle jack and a few I beams welded together to make a rectangle,mounted vertical on the ground with the jack welded to the underside of the top beam and you have a powerful hydraulic press that will brake apart engine blocks and anything else you need will little effect
probably too cost-y and too complicated, if you have a guy willing to pound it half a day with hammer....sad, but thats the life
If they just set it on something solid before they hit it, the dirt absorbs a lot of the impact.

I worked at a plant back in the 80's where a crew of twelve poured 190 of these an hour. Super automated, precision metallurgy, and lots of tools to help. I hear the kids today are pouring 300+ an hour and are hitting up against limits of local supply of scrap and ability to cool the castings before demolding. Messy work.

The lathe of theirs, everything is as dry as a bone, the bed ways, the tool holder screws, the chuck jaws, the tool post etc. Not a drop of oil to be seen and consequently everything needs to be tightened via an extension pipe or beaten with a lump hammer.......What is wrong with these folk? There's a 100 gallons of waste oil around the corner that they use to fire the furnace.
Did you notice the amount of porosity in some of these drums? They would be scrapped in the west for not being safe.
@@epistte It would be interesting to see how these brake drums perform in actual road use. The porosity would produce uneven brake shoe wear, but I am not sure if it would greatly reduce braking force. I do suspect the porous zones could create stress risers where cracking would be more likely, but even then I am not sure if cracking is a significant issue in real-world use. While these brake drums would not be expected to perform as well as consistently cast and machined drums, they may still offer better performance and reliability than the worn-out drums that they are replacing.
@@DielectricVideos It's the stress risers from the porosity that scares me. if one of these drums shatters on a Himalayan mountain road someone is going to get killed and it won't just be the truck driver. The grade of their raw iron is questionable, to say the least. I appreciate their hard work but brake drums have a very high safety requirement.

Unfortunately, despite their hard word and dedication, they will in all likelihood be paid very little for the drums. Using untested scrap iron from engine blocks and likely many other sources will result in an unknown and untested alloy, resulting in varying quality. Breaking apart the moulds while they're still hot will cool them down much quicker, but will warp and temper the drums by cooling the outer edges faster than the inside of the drums. This means they will have internal stresses and will crack much easier and not last as long, and will also require more machining. They also don't use any oil while drilling, and also don't appear to pull the bit out until the hole is made, so they'll go through drill bits faster and will also further temper the drums. Painting the inside of the drums will mean that it will need to be stripped of the paint before installation, as paint is terrible for brakes. It would be much better to paint the outside and coat the inside in oil.
While they work very hard to make them, they don't have any sort of testing or quality control. The quality of material and product is unknown and therefore untrustworthy. In short, there's no amount of money you could pay me to install these on my truck.

They're not aiming for a Volvo emergency brake here. Just enough so that the truck has some kind of brakes. This is not different from basically anything in those countries. Wonder why cheap plastic parts smell that way ??

You are absolutely correct. I manufactured aluminium to Australian Standards from scrap using spectrograph analysis. I ceritified quality. These people are a joke, everything you said about the casting is correct, they are are making faulty equipment.

We have become so over educated and lazy most don't understand or appreciate the hard work and SKILL jobs like this take good on you men.
A little bit of a cringe when they paint the insides of the brake drum-- there is no good reason to do that. Only bad reasons, like to cover up marginal spots, corrosion, or bad machining.....
How about to stop it from surface rust which happens in hours? new mercedes Benz discs are also painted in grey primer
@@crownautosable usually it has a thin layer of oil for that. Paint is a horrible thing because that the braking surface for the pads. Its going to gum up and burn, if not ruin the pads for a hundred miles

@@oldUmanUshea typically it is cosmoline is used. However there's a lot of make do with what you have going on here so I imagine it's the same story there. Nothing a wire wheel and a angle grinder won't take off. Probably the normal situation over there.
You could see that the old guy was running the melting side of the business. He ran the furnace, he poured the metal to the crucible while the young guy was holding it and then took over and poured the metal to mould. Maybe one day the younger guys will take over, but not today.

I had to scroll down quite a way to finally find someone mention the painted drum contact surfaces....
It really is impressive that they build these from scratch without any of the right tools (not to mention any PPE or shoes to speak of) but I wouldn't trust anything coming out of this operation with my life. they are absolutely producing garbage.

Those drums would be a bit better (more uniform; less prone to warping in service) if they let them cool completely in the mold instead of breaking them out while still red hot.

they are full of inclusions and air pockets, so they are already primed to crack.. also, the poor guy installing these will need to remove all the paint from the machined surfaces.. painting the inside and the mating surfaces is going to cause the first issues if its not cleaned off

Some areas of the drum did not clean up on the inside so it is painted to cover it up. Those drums will cause a loping action when the brakes are applied, of course when you have 50 people hanging off the sides no one will notice.

Time in motion would have a field day here, lot of repetitive time wasting actions. Health and Safety on the other hand would be closing it all down. Seriously though you have to admire the will to overcome and make it all happen.
Why in the actual fuck do they not just toss the metal directly into a wheelbarrow and then throw it into the furnace from there? There are like 4 entirely unnecessary steps. Its strange to me that people who have so little are so wasteful of their time. Every drum they make must be crucial to their survival

это ЧУГУНИИ ему плевать косяки он и так будет выполнять свою работу на все 100% как батареи из чугуния , а красят от корозии в отилчие от китайцев котрые вообще не парятся и так продают без расточке и дефектовке а эти пакистанцы делают все по чесноку
Из камазовского блока мотора получится хороший тормозной барабан, и расплавить не придётся, это мотор и так тормоз не тянет не хера

Bad work, burn old oil atc. And absolutly without logic, every piece of metal this mans take 3 or 4 time to hands :-D First load on scal, next step on the groud, next on the wheel, on the groud and after on the furnance :-D
может там не грунт. а графит, который потом добавит прочности
Изнутри проточили, а снаружи? Ведь, баланса не будет. Литье снаружи с одной стороны будет толще и будет биение барабана.
быстрее ось разобьет - будет чем еще заняться :)
