Just sold my 2wd truck for a f350 dually 4wd diesel and a baby hobart 145 generator, itll put me out 12k-hearing your comments at the end is helping me out right now. Because damn even when youre happy with what you got, buyers remorse hits hard lmao
I ran an sa200 for about 3 months when I broke out... that shit got old fast and a complete nightmare in the cold. I'd bet good.money if he's still doing this he's got some type of pipe pro by now.
Ahhhh ..memories. That intitial barking sound of the Lincoln 200 welding machine when the arc is struck and that familiar rhythmic *chugging along* sound of the engine heard in the back ground as you burn the welding rod on a pieces of pipe.... By memory, I can still hear that sound of my welding machine and other welding machines heard all over the construction jobsite from all the other Rig Welders burning rod... Can still smell the smell of the gasoline exhaust fumes and the smell of the smoke and fumes from the 6010 welding rods and the 7018 welding rods. Welding away and welding pipe ...Up, Down And All Around...😄😄😄
Wow !!! You guys did an awesome job setting up his Rig. Its not how much you spend. Like you said, you don't want alot of debt as you start out. Great strategy. I was a pipe welder in the 80s. I ran a SA 200 Lincoln and a Lincoln diesel in the field. The things these pipe liners, welders do today is Interestingly cool. We did things alot different back then. Kudos to you guys !! Hope to see some future stories.Thx for sharing.
Diana, I was sitting here praying when I came upon your text. My son is 23 and has been working in a welding shop for 4 years. He's about to graduate college. His boss has put him into a welder mechanic position which he doesn't like but he's doing his best to try and make it work. My son is struggling with a Lincoln SA 200 built in 1966 He says the armature is hitting the shunt. I have no idea what all that is but he said that he's already put 50 hours into this and can't get it to work. Would you please ask your husband if he would be willing to just have a conversation with my son?
That's a nice looking welder and bed. The round barrel stator housing is a dead giveaway it's an all copper wound machine, which is highly desirable. I remember my first job I showed up with a black face welder and this one guy got in my face, "We only run copper machines out here!!!" Then I made the double mistake telling him I had plant service welding experience.
I liked your comments at the end. This country has lost the self starters that made us great. It's good to see young people taking the bull by the horns.
Im 35yrs old now.. i wish i knew what i know now.. id do things differently so i wont be struggling in life now. Glad to see someone making it out this young. Good job man
We are out here I haven't went a day unemployed since I was 16 years old I am 26 now and work as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic/ welder me and my wife just paid off our first house
Really great video! Speaks well of Dalton, to take such initiative and industry, and speaks well of you, for having the good heart and willingness to help him finish out his rig. I love to see and hear stories like this!
Well said Gary! I love to see people who are making it on their own and not asking for handouts! Nice paint job on that rig. I would love to buy and restore one of those welders.
Stick with it! Fewer and fewer young people are. Don't be like your classmates and go to some four year college, get in debt, and get a degree that isn't worth the paper it's printed on in most cases. Get as many certs and as much experience as you can, show up early, be willing to do the crap jobs, keep out of the drinking and bar scene, look sharp and fully rested each day, and I guarantee someone will notice and they are watching to see who's getting after it and who's just showing up for payday. My father told me similar things at your age. His saying was "Son the effort will pay you back in spades"; it has.
Amen on the self-motivated people getting the bigger share of the pie. Also, I like the look of the restored older equipment. There was curved style in the older stuff that has changed to angular on more modern equipment.
Awesome rig! I've put in a ton of hours with a Lincoln pipeliner... I'd use one of them before a lot of the new tech thats out there today... Dalton is going to be a success at whatever he wants to do if he has that go-get-it attitude.
Nope. Unkie Scott has a new Miller Bobcat I believe. It's pretty awesome, but I spent a ton of time on another friend of mine's 1974 Lincoln... Its beat up and unrestored. It still throws a hell of an arc tho. There's something about how it reacts to the strike that I like. When the engine goes from idle to spun up, the arc starts slow, then digs in... Hard to explain, but its nice.
Happy Thanksgiving Gary !!! Thank you for sharing some of Dalton's story with us !! Thank you for helping Dalton !! God bless you my friend as you share your journey with us !!!! Be safe !!!! Eddy
I believe so, but not sure. I know it was done in Oklahoma, and was not done right, he had to take it back and get several things fix on it after the rebuild
That’s a fine rig man! It reminds me of mine when I started out. I’m retired now so go get em young man and my best wishes to you! Oh! One other thing is don’t let some Sorry ass company man get you blown up! I lost some good friends because of those people ! May God bless you and watch over you! 👍👍😃👏👏🇺🇸
yea it needed a little more wheel arch width, but he bought it for cheap and trying to get it in the field to make money. easy mod later to make new ones for it
@@turbocobra , pretty sure he was talking about total bed width. I have wondered about the fascination with the fenderettes! Make the box wider so the tool boxes are bigger. Or is there an issue being able to reach the middle of the bed from the ground?
that one was not in service. It looked to be in god shape, but i think something was wrong with it, electronics related. They have another larger one around the corner from that one in the same shop that was in service and running a bunch of thick aluminum parts, no enclosure and there was a pile of aluminum chips almost as high as the machine lol
We put cabinets at the front of the deck and the welder over the rear axle. The area behind the welder is a work table with vise and two small tool boxes under the table. This style looks strange and ungainly to me.

Why are both bottles laying down you can’t lay settling down..
Because it's for 2 oxy cylinders and on the passenger side there's a spot for the acetylene to stand up.
