The trade industry needs more folks like you. These old dudes are great and all but keeping secrets from new guys gets everybody nowhere fast. I appreciate your helping hand and words of advice and I’m not even a welder! Truck driver by trade but it’s the same thing in my line of work as well. It’s pretty apparent that you’re willing to help out new guys but still 100% about your business.

I’ve always felt like i owed the guy that taught me how to pipeline. I’ve tried to repay him for years and every time, he tells me to pass it on. That’s how the next generation will make it.

A guy at work walked by while I was watching this video and told me about his neighbor that started out with a beat up, multicolored Tacoma and a big diesel Miller welder and dune torch bottles on a home built trailer.
He said the guy ran that setup for about a year and a half before buying a Dodge Ram and a Lincoln to build a proper welding rig. The next year, he bought a second Dodge and a second welder. The third year, two more. Now, 5 years in, and he’s running a fleet of 12+ trucks with employees on his payroll.

Do I need a die grinder? I’m a student, went to trade school and got my welding/ assembly certification, now I’m doing a 6 month pipe welding course. I noticed that we use die grinders with flap disc grinding wheels on them to clean up the inside of the pipe where we weld the root. Not so much on Stick welding but more so when Tig welding. I’m looking at the Milwaukee m18 die grinders. Do it need that ? It’s the only power tool we use other than grinders
