Hi Andy, great work mate!! Keep it up! I would be interested to know what the temperature of the exhaust is where it comes out of the diesel heater?? I am assuming it will be more than 300 degrees Celsius?? The radiator paint at the top where it feeds in may burn and release harmful gases in the process. I would be interested to find out if you know any plumbers who could give you an old boiler/heat exchanger out of a broken unit that you can run the exhaust gases through as they are more designed for high heat applications. Also, I saw your idea of using sand as a heat battery. Great idea. Is there a way you could put the sand or perhaps 10mm gravel into a metal tube and run the gas through the tube to heat the gravel up and then slowly release the heat after the heater switches off?
One last thing, we have a condensing combo boiler at home, it preheats the water going into the unit by using the exhaust gases, many worth looking into that concept for inspiration as well.
    Good luck

This is a great idea, but i am 100% sure if u took a aluminium intercooler from a car (the long thick ones) and u would place 2 3 small fans behind it u would get alot more free heat vs this thick steel radiator
