You're welcome! Prices are definitely getting up there, but I still can't complain too much with how everything ELSE is going up, too. At least you get a great knife in the end, whatever you pay.
I heard that they discontinued the serrated edge version of these knives so i went ahead and picked up the sheepsfoot serrated edge version off ebay the other day. Love it, my first Spyderco serrated and first lc200n and first sheepsfoot, i love the knife, bigger than my other spydies like pm2 and manix and others, great working knife, cant wait to use it on the beach!
This is one of the _very_ few Spydercos ive never actually owned. My (not-insignificant, and massively oversimplified) experience with LC200N is that its been a stainless 52100. I have zero use for, or interest in a stainless 52100. Ive found VG10 can support equally lower angle/thinner edges, with noticeably better edge retention. Edit: i love the scales, though. And the "scaled down k2" look of the handle.
To the extent we can trust Larrin's data, you're in the right headspace. Maybe 20% greater edge retention, about the same toughness as well-heat-treated 52100. It's not gonna be an everyday steel for some folks, ESPECIALLY people that came into the knife industry on M390 or even S35VN. It's gonna dull quickly compared to those. It feels like some of those chef knifey foldings steels like VG10 to me - I just assume I'm gonna sharpen it somewhat regularly, it sharpens quickly, and I appreciate the edge toughness. Scales are great. Thought they would be gimmicky, but they're super practical, and the handle design is as ergonomic as anything Spyderco makes.
Good review. I like the yellow/black look of it. Blade shape seems like the tenacious as well. Waiting on my salt pm2 to release & can’t wait. I’m not over the moon for LC200N but it’s good.
Half the reason I wanted to test this was to get a sense for the handle design before the PM2 Magnacut came out. I think folks are going to LOVE this handle pattern on the PM2.
I stole it from Larrin Thomas over at KnifeSteelNerds. Here's the article. knifesteelnerds.com/2021/10/19/knife-steels-rated-by-a-metallurgist-toughness-edge-retention-and-corrosion-resistance/
It isn’t made for ONLY salt water use… However you have that peace of mind knowing you can. I would carry it every day but i do not like the color of the scales. The PM2 looks great though, i will buy that one later on, same scales but blacked out same steel but black dlc.
Wanted to love the knife but had to send it back due to the flaccid detent. Tried several in different stores and they all seem to have this failing. A blade that can accidentally shake out just isn't suitable for a boating environment.
@@jojojaykay Sorry to hear it. This is what I was afraid of with the knife. It's not suitable for outdoor use because it flops open, but it's far too large for more sedate/domestic/office use. I tried a bit to strengthen the detent with a pointed file, no luck. Wonder if Spyderco would fix it for you?
One of the knives in my "must-have" list. I hope they come out with a version in Magnacut.
Thanx man, got the Caribbean, now i know more why i like it so much, 🤘🤩i just need to get it out of case n put the good looks n feel to WORK
Awesome video! Bought two of these Caribbean 's before the prices spiked. They are great knives, thanks for sharing!

I have the full serrated blade Caribbean. It is a terrific cutter. I fully agree the ergos are fantastic.

A great knife for serrations. There's tons of blade to work with, and serrations are useful for a lot of things you need around the water. Enjoy it!

I almost bought one when i was in golden colorado at the spyderco place last year but alas, plane tickets home aren't free 😢

Cool knife. Thank you for this.
Nice review. That steel chart is great, gotta find me a copy.

Mine has opened in my backpack twice in a short amount of time
