  • I downloaded and installed the new update on my ‪@NeuralDSP‬ Quad Cortex today and made this video of my first impressions of the Looper and Freeze functions. It took a little bit of getting used to but I think it's going to be good!
    The preset is called "Ac Loop Freeze" - My Cortex Cloud Profile where you can download it:

    Your my 8th loop video. I’m an acoustic based looping performer. I just bought the QC in hopes that I can assign the record of the looper to one button. The stop to another button and the play to another button leaving me 5 other buttons for various effects so far I’m not seeing that u can do that??

      I've set mine up so you have one button that records and overdubs....the other on first tap restarts/plays the loop and then stops it on the 2nd tap. I found it a bit tricky to start with as that isn't how my Ditto looper worked.....but I have to say for most instances, now I'm used to it, it works quite well. Looking at the manual you can use CC #53 with a value of less than 63 and that should give you a stop footswitch too which I haven't used....which would pretty much do what you're after I think. Check out my hybrid mode video to see how I set mine up.

    So you cant just assign 2 buttons to be a regular looper? Doesn't matter how good a looper it is, having to go into the looper and out before you change anything else makes it really tricky to use while singing too. Good vid btw!

      Exactly that....you've spotted the problem - I wish I had before I did a gig with it last night!!!....I'm going to do a video on it (I filmed some of it) - spoiler alert....it's impossible, mainly for the reasons you've mentioned!!

    Wow a looper and a couple of new amps and chorus !!! - mmmmm
    Yes think I’ll sell my Axefx 3 !!
    Errrrr no fucking way !!!
    Still need some more major updates before I would consider !

      The AxeFX sound great....I think all the modellers have slightly different applications. The QC is certainly working for me....in ways I never even thought of before I got it!!

    Just preordered my QC and I'm finding your vids really, really helpful - thank you! Question though - now you have experience of using the looper on the QC and constantly flicking back & forth between screens, would you stick with an external looper pedal in the effects loop of the QC like you do with your ditto?????

    • @iamtjwalker
      @iamtjwalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use just the QC now. I discovered a hack where you loopback a midi cable and effectively use the QC as a midi controller to control itself. You have to memorise what each button does in this hybrid mode....but it works well for me. I did a video on it here: th-cam.com/video/6uACts2kFZs/w-d-xo.html

    The not getting back into the looper from scene mode is a huge issue for me.

    • @iamtjwalker
      @iamtjwalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm going to try it live tonight....I'll see how I get on with it in Stomp mode....it's a change of setup. Using a midi foot controller for the looper may be the answer ultimately.

    One feature I like about this looper and I'm not sure if TJ was aware at the time of filming- if you use the QC with your hands (not like a typical floor situation | using your feet)- once you hit record the looper won't start recording until it detects an input signal. Very cool feature! I use my QC with an FRFR at the moment and I have the QC on a stand to control with my hands. If TJ explains this in the video....I apologize as I quickly skimmed thru. Great stuff TJ! Awesome channel!

      @iamtjwalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did know about the feature then completely forgot to use it!! I actually set it up with the intention of using my foot….then carried on with my hand!! Thanks for that, I’m going to experiment with that feature, will be much easier!!! Thanks for watching!!

    Great vid as always TJ. I'm waiting for a recall/discard scene changes option between to really take my Quad Cortex out the studio and unto the stage. I hope that's coming in an update soon🤞🏾🤞🏾. Your experiences are great advice though. Especially about the adapters 💡

    Are these recording/looping at 24 or 32 bit?

    • @iamtjwalker
      @iamtjwalker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they're more likely to be 24 bit....I think that's what the QC operates at...can't find any info on it. If you use the QC as an audio interface it's at 24 bit. I'm recording on the computer at 24 bit (although I'm not using the QC as the audio interface)...but I'm sure what you're hearing has been compressed somewhere along the line!!
