Yes, great video, Mike put me onto the Cortex last week in Nashville August 2023. I ordered it came in 1 week ! My first download was this preset and "Bobs your Uncle"!. Thanks Mike and Petterri ,this is going to be big fun! You guys rock your acoustics!
Thank you Pete! Amazing stuff and you revealed it all even to those like me, who dont even own any OC or QC, cheers to Boss, NeuralDSP, Mike Dawes, Jon Gomm, Waves
Man... i wish that music indutry was different... i'm a modern acoustic lover since the Begining of Candyrat records... It's a shame ...i remember listening to your rendition of Wake me up before you Go go i was blown away. Hoping soo much success and notority for you and all the modern guitarist right there. Thank you for the tutorial.
Hello dear Peter! Can I somehow find out what kind of spatial effect you use on the magnetic pickup?I see in your photo there are 2 reverbs and two delays, it’s very interesting which ones they are?Thank you so so much!!🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗
Hi! The signal chain is a bit complex. In a nutshell: there’s a subtle slapback delay that is usually always on. Then there’s a longer qurter note delay and a shimmer reverb I use for ”the big moments” in songs.
Pleaseeee do. Will it be on Spotify? I can put that song on repeat while I’m at the gym or something. Right now I’m just rewinding that short 15-30 seconds on your video haha
@@petterisariola Hey Petteri! I'm still checking here monthly for that rig rundown. I'd legit pay for a course to learn how you get your guitar tone through electronics.
Great video and great Octaver sound. PLEASE post more Quad Acoustic videos, for us that play only acoustic (multi source pickups) and want to buy a Quad. Pleeease ;)
Thnx! I use QC for creative ”drama” FX and it’s only on my mag pickup. My other internal pickups and the mag sound are summed in my QSC Touchmix 16. That’s where I’ve setup the real ”guitar sound” 👍On this video you hear a blend of studio mics and QC on the mag pickup, no Touchmix (and the internal piezos) as this is a QC demo and not a full pedalboard rig rundown. My recording studio setup is completely different from live setup.
Sounds great Petteri! I'm looking forward to seeing your next video about the Quad Cortex because like Jon said below, it could replace my entire board too.. Does it have Loop and Freeze functions?
Nice👍 Yea the Waves was pretty good but Waves as a company honestly sucks, they make people pay for the plugins they’ve bought again and again. You can also create the OC sound using individual EQ, pitch shifter etc. plugins.
@@petterisariola I'm still working on getting you down under for some shows ( hopefully with some of the other boyos ), so stay tuned I'm getting closer with a location for a guitar camp Down Under... Down Under Low-End Thunder? Perhaps.. either way the wheels are in motion. Looking forward to whatever you're putting out next.. don't stop making content about signal routing though.. it keeps me intonated ( within reason ) and tickles my electronic fancy. Keep well Petteri!
Great video! Thanks for sharing your preset as well. Just a noob question; I think this works best with the magnetic pickups, right? I have K&K Pure Mini on my Martin 000-28 but it seems not suitable for this type of usage. Am I correct?
Thanks! I can’t say as I don’t have experience with K&K stuff, but yea I do presume this works best with an isolated source like a magnetic pickup. More microphonic pickup = more trouble 😅 Under saddle piezo might work as well, but I think feedback issues etc. can arise.
Excellent - thanks! This has me even more interested than before in the QC! Question: If you set the bass frequency on a guitar in standard tuning, what happens if you then tune that guitar 2 or 3 half-steps (to D or C# standard), or slap on a capo for various songs? I suppose one would need an extra preset for every song having a deviant bass range?
@@petterisariola Thank you very much for this uplifting reply! I think you just sold me on buying one of these, as a „central brain“ for acoustic and electric, each benefiting from the bass sim. Amazing that it can produce this kind of bass in all those different positions! I believe you said only the lowest note is turned into bass, right? So if one want’s to do a bass run over the E and A string, e.g. for something like Superstition, some finetuning of the bass would probably become necessary, right? But in the end, it‘ll all come down to experimentation, and I‘m ready to do this.
I would say the best thing to do would be to try the QC out yourself, and you’ll see how it feels etc. We all have very personal preferences so one setting might not work for someone else and so on. BTW you’ll find more boss OC poly -tutorials and presets by other people on TH-cam and Cortex Cloud ☺️
Thanks for the unexpected shout out! I started using the OC3 pretty much as soon as it came out. Pete, are you running vocal & guitar through the Quad Cortex? I've thought about trying it. It good theoretically replace pretty much my entire board...
Ahoy Jon! ❤️ Just the guitar, I’ll shoot a detailed rig rundown this or next week. I’m only running my magnetic pickup through it and summing everything in QSC Touchmix 16. I had not thought of using it for vocals but that’s a great idea! Personally, I’d probably need another QC for that as I’m pretty maxed out with the processing power on this. What unit were you using for vocals these days?
Legend says that when someone plays boss oc through a acoustic guitar Jon appears to remind us he was the first to ever use it 😂 He is using Tc vocal live 3 for voice as far as I know.
@@zeegfajutaum8571 Ha ha! All I did was literally just use the pedal for its intended purpose, so I think 100% of the credit goes to whoever designed it!
Hi Petteri! why do you cut at 130hz at last? it seems you basically just want a ‘’fake note‘’ an octave below which creates harmonics rather than a subwoofer, however, the real note on the 6th string does the 60-100hz job, Does that make sense?
Hi! Yea I don’t want the polyoctave sound making ”more bass”. I have quite a bit of low end on my clean magnetic signal, that’s my ”bass”. That’s why the polyoctave sound gets a heavy low cut, I want the note but not sub bass 👍
Fantastic video mate! Was so lovely to hear this live the other week, it sounded MASSIVE but controlled. Next level boundary pushing for the scene
Thanks mate, much appreciated! Right back at ya ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

Nope, my setup got significantly lighter. It’s also a lot easier and more options to do sound design with the CQ plugins/blocks than hardware.
Sounding as clean as ever, bud!

Plenty of good options out there. I’m using DiMarzio Angel, active. It soft clips the peaks and the mids are scooped.
