I agree. I think Neural would do well to make a 'smaller' unit like an HX Stomp to enter the 'mid priced' physical modeler units... Duo Cortex would be amazing!

I don't own any of the plugins, so that's not a deal breaker for me. And you can do everything onscreen so the editor isn't a deal breaker either...

Like a HeadRush Core now for $799?

the smaller units are just a ton more accessible, and still sound awesome.

A dual cortex , with one path ,8 -10 blocks, would be killer , your design honestly looks great , 6 switches/ encoders is great . I would buy that for around $999

Lowering the barrier to entry can only benefit Neural IMHO. I would buy one too, might even sell my QC for it for the form factor alone.

I want song list mode also

I'd like more complete vocal effects support. I bought the QC to replace a cumbersome vocals and electric guitar stage setup -- pedalboard, BOSS RC-05, plus cases, stands, and power. While I can get the QC to do about 60% of what I count on the 505 to do, I still have to use the 505. Also, Duo Cortex? I like it.

That's an awesome idea, with other modelers like the headrush doing the guitar+vocals thing as well.

I would like to see a store front for people to sell there custom high end tones similar to Kemper and axe fx

I just recently started playing again after 2 decades, so for me, it's about being compact for all the sounds I like. My current board is massive and I want to be able to capture my whole board and carry it in a backpack. I'll be honest... I don't ever have to play thru a "real" amp. My current amp is a blackstar amped 1.

if it works for your use case, that's what's most important. Just note that the QC can only capture drive/distortion pedals, not other effects (though it does have it's own effects, it's limited compared to other units, so look into it and hopefully it has what you need!)

The only issue I have with mine is accidentally smashing two buttons at same time. Should have been spaced a little further apart. I know it would be bigger. But come on!! Not every one wears size 10 shoes. Some of us are 13-14 wide

I feel like I need to get one now and just do comparisons for.... The rest of my life lol.

I could care less about the plugins. I want more midi commands per scene and stomp. Midi commands that can be assign to scenes and stomps. Not just assigned to the footswitch. Scene ignore for individual blocks. More/better wet effects. Cloud style reverbs to be exact.

I only had one complaint about the cortex and it’s out the door as of the first of this year. Tuner time. Two clicks and done. To be honest a lot of other modeling units should take notice of that because it’s awesome. Especially when the trails of effects are still going through. But yes dual cortex for a price of a hx stomp would be nice. Also more bass plugins

Maybe a mini QC without a screen.
Just use your phone or tablet screen.

It would have to be something very impressive for me to give up my ISP Theta Pro and invest in something else. While Neural is gaining popularity and adding more and more features...maybe??? But I don't think they are there yet. My Theta Pro does almost everything I want in addition to my whammy DT I got when Chase recommended it to me a while back.

QC is very ambigious product for nDSP and it looks hard to support top notch device.
I shall bid good luck to nDSP and agreed: new small hardware required.
It also would be good to kow more info about blocks (can't understand from manual: are interstellar reverb and shimmer here?) and ADC/DAC (like dynamic range). It's not good advertisement from themself

Definitely wish there was more documentation on their individual effect blocks.

It shouldn’t have been released without all of the needed software and firmware.

Alternatively have a better, tighter post launch plan.

My old Spider finally died. I was looking to upgrade to a Marshall or Orange tube amp when I discovered all these modeling products. I appreciate your review and will see if there are any Namm show announcements. However, I do have a newbie question. Using either QC, Kemper, or Helix, what do you play them through? Do you model a virtual JCM 800 and Marshall cabinet to actually play it through a physical Marshall cabinet? Am I missing something?

    • @TheGooseChaseMusic
      @TheGooseChaseMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

@@deang9317 all these units come with stock cabinet simulations, or you can load your own IR (a mic'd 'snapshot' of a real speaker cabinet), if you want to play through your headphones or computer speakers.
Otherwise, you can disable the cab sim/IR, and run the modeler into a power amp into a real cabinet.

I only use all of this purely for private purposes, and “unfortunately” I’m also interested in the technology.
I have a Helix Floor and an FM3 and I've been wanting to buy the QC all the time. Just to play around with it.
However, the constant topics also scare me.
I don't want presets only via the cloud.
The comparison: The Helix plays with the last Upade Akurater as well as the FM3, which is shocking for a device like this at such a price.
The form factor is great, I really like the FM3 only with the editor, I just don't like the display.
    What can you do ;)))
