I have a tip for the supercharger gears. If you use WTRTI to display engine horsepower, you can toggle the gear at about where u think the switch is - if the power goes down, then you're too early with the switch, and if it jumps up, you were too late. You can time it so that you switch at the exact altitude where the power from gear 2 starts becoming higher than the power from gear 1 It is of course extremely sweaty but it does remove the need to test and/or memorise all the gear-switch altitudes
you need to manually switch if you're using MEC to control your cooling. i haven't noticed an instance of the auto switch being anything but ideal. i wouldn't call running WTRTI sweaty at all. i would call trying to test and memorize all the gear switch altitudes sweaty.

what frustrates me about these changes, is this thing used to kick ass back in the day at its original battle rating. "look how they massacred my boy."
Played this thing right before the changes at 5.0 and it felt like a monster when spaded. Held 29-25m/s climb rate from the deck to ~5000m. For reference... that is a whole ass Griffin Spitfire's worth of climb rate... now at 4.7 with more speed than practically anything it faces. This thing being able to face 3.7's is just criminal 💀
the bearcat’s 1st super charger gear works best on high ram air which means it produces more horsepower the faster it goes but only works best near absolute sea level and loses power fast any higher. It can climb at 30ms but only very near sea level and rapidly drops to 27.5ms at the first supercharger switch at 1km. It can sustain that until it’s critical alt at 3km, and continues to drop and is under 21ms at 5km. So no it does not have a whole griffon spitfires climb rate. Undertiered yes, but you’re making it sound way better than it actually is. The engine can’t sustain that speed without overheating and opening rads to cool it down produces a lot of drag.
@@greenpepperant Dawg, I just leave the engine controls on auto, get to 360kmh, pitch to 20 degrees, and enjoy 31/s climb rate slowly dropping to ~25m/s at ~4,500m still holding 20 degrees. I am at 5,000m faster than almost anybody else, and have the top speed at that altitude to make up for any drop. I feel nearly untouchable in downtiers. Shit is straight busted
The only reason the bearcat should ever go back up again is if they fix the broken flight model, IRL it's retention while not great was nowhere near as bad as it is in WT
Plays definitely better now, but still, T-2 is my choice. F-1 have alot more chances to face mig-21 bis, mig-23s with all-aspect missles, while T-2 only faces Su-25s and A-10s which is fairly easy to boom and zoom out of the air.

It's a great plane that is everything both Gaijin with short mission timers and players with zero attention span, can't stand to let shine. If everyone wants every match to be "climb straight into the furball and win or die after the first turn" then american stuff that has to be played more strategically with speed and not maneuvering too much so you don't bleed speed, is just going to lose. Gaijin is complicit with lowering match timers and trying to force quick furballs but the players make it worse than it has to be, too. American planes are great if used right but nobody wants to.
So it's a plane with good climb rate and good top speed, compresses at high speeds, doesn't turn particularly well, doesn't have good guns and is completely dependent on BNZ gameplay. If I want to fly something fast that has good guns but mediocre turn rate, I'd use my Wyvern at a lower br instead.
Defyn always gives me the “ nah id win Typa vibes “ cuz I’ve been watching for like 4 ish years now I think and so many of his videos and just dogfights start with him like having the worst fucking positioning in the world like the enemy is 3 lm above him and he still wins….
The Bearcat is probably the most accurate aircraft in WT. Not that the FM is accurate but because it’s on paper performance doesn’t match its actual in air performance.
Hey Defyn, in your search for the worst plane you've been focused on bombers and stuff that really shouldnt be used as a fighter, and I get it. However I want to suggest the C.R. 714. Its supposed to be a fighter and it's still terrible at it. It's at 1.3 but its a mono-wing so it cannot out maneuver the biplanes it faces, and its 4 7.5mm MAC French MGs shoot very fast but do little more than tickle the enemy planes. You can easily dump all 1200 rounds into a single plane and not even get a severe damage. Surely the fact that it's meant to be a fighter and still sucks at the job should give it an edge in the worst plane race.
This thing irl is a legit superprop, one of the fastest propeller driven aircraft at the time and still today... it become one of the fastest race plane on this planet.. Still holds the record and probably forever. Why 4.7??

For me, the 4 12mm’s have been laser beams at times even without the gunpods so you should defynitely try it at one point with the performance increase
Me when I'm going knikkeren at the children's playground (yes I can move 20 tiles up and keep my bonk, the 6-year old with the dorrel did not see that coming)
I have no idea what you're talking about. knikkeren? bonk? dorrel?
@@johnmosley9376 just like uncle I'm going to give you one tip: I'm from the country where 130 meters is a mountain
performance based match making + american teams = under tiered vehicles
same formula for german mid tier tanks and american premium tanks (mah abrums hur dur)
@@codexjerry1156tanks have a completely unique issue tough - lineups, not single vehicles, matter. And because grinding is slow suddenly giving a nation the best tank will not change the fact that, well, basically more people have full Ru lineups and respawn to the end compared to any other.
When it comes to up to BR 6.7 it should just be not allowed to pair Ru and Ger, it's auto-win, and not because one specific vehicle is OP.
its only gotten worse with the 20 minute hard time limit on matches, i used to enjoy winning 1v8s with p47s when you had plenty of time to set up each target 1 by 1
The largest problem is the design of Air RB. If one team side-climbs the enemy team wins on ticket bleed because of how influential ground pounding is. This incentivizes the low altitude furballs that dominate the Air RB meta and heavily favors the planes with good low altitude performance.
It might be time for me to remake the whole performance vs ergonomics video.
cheeseburger?
this thumbnail do be looking hella good
Actually bad fighter idea: c205n, fat zero A6M5 Hei, Firebrand, ki87
The C.205n2 is a real stinker as of now. I second the recomendation.
what about the last Re.2005 ? i heard it got nerfed heavily in the past that noone use it anymoree
@@irgiefarras it suffers the same condition as the c.205 and the G55: they’ve slapped 2 x 20 mm cannons on the wings and raised its BR. The engine is the same so it flies worse but meets higher BR planes
J7W1, still 6.0 :))))
Mr Defein whats your MEC setting for the bearcat to compensate for the overheating problems?
Just open your radiators and you can wep all you want
If you don't want to open the radiators much, 90% prop pitch will keep it cool with a very small performance loss
@@reinbeers5322 this is my go to way for p47s and p51s, regulate with engine rpm instead of radiators.
4.7 would have been fine with older FM where you could rip your wings instantly, but now the main weakness of pedobear is gone.
its insanely good and overpowered, every game i get 5-6 kills with it. the 50cal even if it doesn't rip enemy to shreds it cripples them for easy second pass kill
I'm so old I remember when this thing had M3 .50s
I immediately tried it yesterday because I too thought it was going to be absolutely nuts and didn't really get much going, I had a 3 kill game here and there and a 4 kill game, but a lot of the time I actually did nothing. It's absolutely bizarre how brutally this thing can rinse people when you can kind of isolate them and don't have to think about anything else for a moment, but the shit rudder, retention in maneuvers and especially the mouthbreather teams really don't do it any favors.
You have to be quite prudent and think 2 steps ahead in one of the fastest props in the game that also can pull energy literally out of its ass if you don't want to spend half the game flying straight and doing nothing, it's a fairly odd playstyle. You can get away with maybe half the things you think you actually can.
Makes me feel slightly less mentally handicapped that even someone like Defyn who's actually good says basically the same things I thought.
Oh hey my 3:35 am spree payed off!
Bruh the Yak-3 just legit ricocheted a .50 cal round off of its fuselage 19:22
))))))))
That is because the fuselage is made of high quality Stalinium!
I think thats a new thing, i never saw such a thing until a few days ago and suddenly start seeing some rounds bouncing off once in like every 2 games
@@ozan1234561 This has always been a thing and it used to be substantially more common lmfao.
There's always a chance for a glancing shot, and also sometimes you just have desync issues (where it looks like you hit someone but the server didn't pick it up. This can also be in the reverse, you've probably run into situations where someone is shooting no where near you but you still get hit).
@@DaisiesTC nah these bullets go into a completely different trajectory after the hit so they really just bounce off
I still prefer the yak9u at 4.7
My favourite plane of all times
La-7 better
The f8f was a plane I could always tell was really good, but I could never get it to work for me.
muh "only four guns" but people slap four more
Gaijin knows and that's why they're pretending they don't
Gaijin in their infinite reasoning are using average statistics instead of median...
A rookie mistake 😮
gunpods in my opinion are very bad on the f8f
@@Cerce7 heard they make the plane a chunker but so do most gun pods
@@kingghidorah8106 They are some of the worst gunpods in the game in terms of performance impact. I mean, you can kind of tell just by looking at them lmfao.
I don't use gunpods on anything but at least with something like the 109's gunpods they don't add that much drag and the weight is distributed better.
@@DaisiesTC yeah on f8f they're a detriment but that's mostly too because the f8f is tiny and has a weird center of gravity very forward as many of the extreme taildraggers do that have a tiny tail gear and some noticeable angle nose up when on ground.
is there some reason why gaijin doesn't rework the instructor or whatever to take into account bad rudders? like it seems it assumes a certain amount of rudder authority when it tries to maneuver the plane to point at your crosshair, but that just doesn't work on planes with rudders like this where it ought to use the ailerons more instead
I mean I got a kill on one of these with an SU-100P yesterday so given that's a 6.3 maybe I'd agree it's balanced where it's at?
The flaps also never break, so that’s another plus
what frustrates me about these changes, is this thing used to kick ass back in the day at its original battle rating. "look how they massacred my boy."
Now the Me262 A-1/U4!
What MEC settings do you use for the bearcat?
can u make a key bind guide for top tier? its a lot of things i need to click and idk how u do these manuvers that u often do with just one hand
Taiwanese F-5A is 10.7 with AIM-9P now. Any chance for a video on it?
yoooo no way i was in a game with defyn 12:36
(and yes i'm fucking stupid lmao)
3:09 Another one bytes the dust
would be cool to see a replay angle to see whether or not the damage you assume you did is actually the case like with the 109 at the end
Good idea actually
@@Registered_Simp if you insist those climb rate numbers are accurate I have nothing to add lol.
Damn defyn uploading early in the morning is not on my bingo card

I love the F8, I love the firepower of the gun pods…. I hate the way it flys with the gun pods though. 😢 they turn it into better P47😅?
Have you thought of streaming on twitch? I would love to watch some streams!
Whats the difference between it and the F8F-1b, besides the guns
RIGHT. time to sealclub with this thing until gaijin realizes their stupidity, and fixes it. (they wont)
This plane is not op or some shit. What are you talking about
The only reason the bearcat should ever go back up again is if they fix the broken flight model, IRL it's retention while not great was nowhere near as bad as it is in WT
@@тебяебатьнедолжно-ы1йit literally outperforms every single plane at 4.7
@@TheRandomshite123are you sure this isn’t just because gaijin lets people pull way more g’s in game than they ever could irl

Did the me 262s get dropped down as well? Tired of fighting jets with aim 9s
Only the rare 2 gun one.
Pretty sure it's just constant uptiers at that rank anyway but idk
I mean considering that Gaijin put the spitfires at 6.7 so they can face jets (even the la200 lmao) this isn't really too surprising
How can I fight this on a P-63A-5 or a P-39K-1. Do I actually have to worry a lot about this thing if I'm flying those
Im pretty sure P39 can outturn the F8f in a sustained ratefight cas of the shit energy retention.
@@panzerwafflez7228 alright thanks. Guess I don't have much to worry about
Is the F-1 any worth playing again at 10.0? Seems like a better T-2 with more missiles at a only a slightly higher br now.
Plays definitely better now, but still, T-2 is my choice. F-1 have alot more chances to face mig-21 bis, mig-23s with all-aspect missles, while T-2 only faces Su-25s and A-10s which is fairly easy to boom and zoom out of the air.
Never tryed US props what are the Go tos besides the p39
late P-51s, F4u's, and Sabers
P47D28
How is your engine not overheating at all?
good video like always. Could you try the Italian Macchi C.202 or her sister the Macchi C.205 (Serie 1 or Serie 3 or even the Macchi C.205N Orione)?? Thanks a lot mate. Have a nice Day.☺☺
The last match was a bit of a game of throws.
So you still think it's undertiered 0:31 but it "makes total sense" according to title so it's not undertiered actually? I know all the war thunder people online have decided it's a criminal undertier but that doesn't mean they you gotta waffle on the middle of the fence
The title is sarcastic
Its undertiered
But it makes sense its doing so badly because its quite tedious to fly
It's a great plane that is everything both Gaijin with short mission timers and players with zero attention span, can't stand to let shine. If everyone wants every match to be "climb straight into the furball and win or die after the first turn" then american stuff that has to be played more strategically with speed and not maneuvering too much so you don't bleed speed, is just going to lose.
Gaijin is complicit with lowering match timers and trying to force quick furballs but the players make it worse than it has to be, too.
American planes are great if used right but nobody wants to.
Any tips with MEC for this aircraft im new with MEC
Swap supercharger gear on WEP at 1300m, mix to 95%, prop pitch at 100% and keep the radiators around 35% to sustain WEP
I was weirded out because I was playing it and between the matches it changed BR. Or maybe I didnt notice?
Your game mode automatically switches between what you usually pr what you last played so if you played rb and it switched to ab it would switched br
@@EurofighterTyphoon-EF2000 I was thinking about a switch from 5.0 ARB to 4.7 ARB. Bit yeah it's also in a weird place because it's way lower in AAB.
Defyn always gives me the “ nah id win Typa vibes “ cuz I’ve been watching for like 4 ish years now I think and so many of his videos and just dogfights start with him like having the worst fucking positioning in the world like the enemy is 3 lm above him and he still wins….
This thing is a lower BR than the Fw 190 A-8.
What's crazy is that the 1B version with the cannons is almost 2.0 br higher with the same performance
do the one with the 20mms again pls defyn🙏🏼🙏🏼
Don't worry with my skills I can bring it down to 4.3😂
Man. this game looks amazing when you are not always at ground level 4:10
This thing irl is a legit superprop, one of the fastest propeller driven aircraft at the time and still today... it become one of the fastest race plane on this planet.. Still holds the record and probably forever.
Why 4.7??
Do a F8F-1B or F7F now
I thought the thing was pretty fine after they buffed the overheating, but 4.7 is quite ... shocking
havent played ARB in ages

Though a lot of CAS players in this think they could turnfight the Spitfire. So far, I've been proving them wrong.
@@YataTheFifteenth well, stupidity is always a factor. I remember back when the french air tree was added I used a plane that is a good turn fighter but looks like a heavy fighter up to 5.3 because it could kill everyone but spits and zeros in 1 turn fights. Good times.
@ DEFYN, I've recently redid the F8F-1 performance guide if you'd like to see it and give some feedback

you killed me in a ki 61 ( me )
Was nice at 5.7. The other one would be good at 6.0
What belt is the best for 50cal right now?
I do not understand why Gaijin is so allergic to directly buffing and nerfing aspects of planes that can't seem to perform well at their BR. You have one of the best props of the post-war period at 4.7 where it still struggles because it pisses away all its speed instantly, and the 4 .50 cals aren't amazing. Stop moving stuff down, start making mediocre planes perform better.
try out the 6.3 me-262 u4 🗣
