There is nothing wrong with being neuro-diverse. We have a young guy in my team at work that is dyslexic but he more than makes up for that in his technical understanding of what we do and often helps out other team members out that are twice his age. The fact that you have a channel with over 93k subs (and sure to be 100k soon) shows that you are good at what you do.
I would never leave your channel over anything mate. No one can help their dyslexia as I have several members of my family with dyslexia. I'm proud of you Dan. I love your videos. Don't ever give up. I'm staying on your channel until I'm dead.
You are who you are thats why we all love you and your channel. We never laugh about your dyslexia but how you make light of it. A sense of humour is paramount. I giggle through all challenges. Enjoyed as always
Proper felt for you at the beginning of this video. My son (he's 23) is dyslexic too and struggles exactly the same as you did, when you were giving us the details of your walk/camp. People seem to think it's funny though. It's also usually people who can read and write without any issue and it's so cruel. I absolutely loved this video, the walk looked good and something me and the other half could do. Thank you for highlighting dyslexia too, never be ashamed of it... it makes you the person you are 👍
I did my first camp Mon 9th Oct. It started off really well. Tent was Regatta Kiva V3 4 person. Not one leak on a very windy rainy night. I was really enjoying it until 5am cos I had no sleep!!! I was contiually sliding off a blow up bed n being too fat round my top half to fit in the sleeping bag. So being a small fat unfit 73yr old with Athritis I booked into premier for next 2 nights. Have learned - buy a taller tent (vango Craigmor 4) so i can stand, get a camping cot n a bigger sleeping bag. I an still going for it, thanks Dan you got me hooked.👊
One of the reasons I love your videos is that you are a regular, every day guy, down to earth and honest. There is nothing pretentious or fake about your content. Being open about your dyslexia and showing that it hasn't prevented you from living your dream, is just such positive content for others to feel encouraged to maybe try new things. A few years back I found out that I have mild cerebral palsy, i had gone through my whole life wondering why I was so 'clumsy' and struggled with certain things, but you know what, it didn't stop me from travelling around the whole country in my big white transit van lol. Some of my favourite memories are waking up right on the shore of Loch Ness, travelling over the Scottish Highlands and all over the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. I got a few giggles out of people along the way because they were expecting some big burly workman to get out the 'white van' but no, it was just little old 5ft 2" me lol.
Dan, we Dyslexics, ADHD etc etc - our diversity is not a glitch in our programming, we are completely different operating systems. And so bloody proud it. Glad to see you on the trail doing your stuff, you'll make 100,000 subs soon. 👍👊
Nice to see you doing something a bit different, Dan. I visited Top Withens on the Pennine Way in August 2020 - the night before had been hot and clear with an amazing red sunset (camped at May’s farm shop) but it was total fog at Top Withens. Then continuing over the moor for the next stop at Squirrel Wood, Ickornshaw, now sadly closed (ever so friendly).
IMO you are an ambassador for all those who are dyslexic, But I do wish you would not put yourself down so much, You are a fantastic bloke be proud of yourself.
What a fabulous video EWM, one of your best - the history stuff alone was worth the hour, but a superb place to camp an'all - nicely done 👌(thank [insert deity of your choice] that "people world-wide" don't all camp there! 😂).
Dyslexic, your an inspiration to others, your video's are brilliant, what you do is absolutely brilliant, ❤to you and your family's, 👍 ❤, THANKYOU ❤, and we all love what you do
It's too early for the rams to be out yet. "Tupping" too early = lambs born at the coldest time of year. Hill sheep (kept on hills & moorland) have their lambs later in spring because the weather is too harsh out there for early lambs to survive. The red marks on those sheep are marks to let other farmers know which farm those sheep belong to if they get lost or stray. Those sheep will all be female - ewes. The "raddle paint" used on a ram's chest (usually put onto a block & held in place with a harness) marks the ewes on their bottoms after a ram (tup) has done the deed 😉 Great video Dan. I watched your edited one but this one is so much better.
Lived it and loved it . Next time try the bus to stanbury , where it turns around there’s a footpath , not very far and you could use hainworh as a base camp , good luck and very best !
I find it hard to motivate myself to get out and do solo camps, but like you I just force myself out and all the worries I had disappear! Emily Bronte who wrote Wuthering Heights is pronounced Brontay, great video I tried to make it up to top withins last year but had a chest infection and turned back. Will try and do this in a few weeks before the real bad weather sets in!
Great video Dan the scenery was awesome the house was amazing, the little building would be ideal to shelter inside from the weather thanks Dan enjoyed watching amazing video. 😊
Great video again! And I chickened out of tenting as the weatherforecast was 5 degrees at night. (I am a newbie). I will try to "be that person" - well said.

Just love your explanation of the red dye on the sheep 😂 you are 100% right on the reason I wonder what the Bronte waterfalls were called prior to the Bronte sisters ❤❤ Keep safe and smiling

Don’t have to justify u having dyslexia . It’s a condition not a choice. U keep doing what u r doing . Which we all love your videos, u r a lovely guy. And if u get nasty comments , in my mind it’s down to jealousy . What else could it be. X
Another great video and a bit of history lesson too which was a great bonus. I want to get a down sleeping bag at least a 4 season but man so expensive, is there any out there that are a bit cheaper like £100 or is that a no no.
You are not an idiot you're saying I am too no you and I are fantastic people and people could learn from us tell him to shut the heck up I love watching you and I love your accent and your humor
there's been a few updated, modernised versions of Wuthering Heights have been released in past few years to make it easier to understand for the youngest generation so maybe there is an audiobook version of them available on TH-cam that you could listen to? Or just probably use a CLIFF'S NOTES for the lowdown on the Bronte's work. Ironically, you complaining about the remoteness of the location is one of the main features of the book. You said that 'they barely had anything to eat back then', but remember, most families would have a small holdings situ as normal practise i.e. a pig, chickens and a community around them to barter with. Nothing like today where when SHTF the majority of Brits will starve within a week once all shops and supermarkets are looted. Makes a nice bothy that yin and THAT tent looks like the perfect colour ive been looking for, cheers!
Bronte, the inspiration for wuthering heights, I thought I was on the culture channel lol! Well done you for trooping up those hills, pretty bleak countryside, would be a rough place in the snow. You said you were taking off your pants at bedtime, surely you didn't mean underpants? Ha! Well at least the rain held off but the wind must have been loud you could probably have done with some ear plugs.your sleeping bag looked very cosy, I think your sleep in strategy was a good call.
Love all your videos! keep em coming, you have been a real inspiration. only one thing,.... tents don't have 'guide' lines, but they do have 'guy' lines :0) What is the weight in KG of the pack you carried on this trek? real curious to know what the weight of peoples packs are
We eat both male and female cows. The sex of the cow does not determine its fate as food on our plates. However, there are certain factors that influence which gender of cow is commonly consumed in different ways. We eat mostly Lamb, both male and female are consumed, the farmer decides what he/she keeps for the next breeding stock and what goes to slaughter. Lamb is the name given to the meat from a young sheep, and is also the name given to the animals themselves, up until one year of age. After this, lambs are referred to as hoggets, but the meat will sometimes still be sold as “lamb”. (The terminology can differ depending on who you’re buying the meat from). When hoggets get older, their meat will generally be sold as “mutton”, although they will be referred to as hogget or sheep. My Aunt owns a farm, she rears Beef Cattle and Sheep.
I much prefer these away camps Dan. Much better than back of local school woodland ones. Oh FYI, all steaks you eat are from cows, female cows, all chickens are female too. Lol.
I studied Wuthering Heights when I did an English Literature A level back in 1984. It was described as a melodrama romance novel so I didn't have high hopes of liking it. How wrong was I. It's blisteringly good. None of the film adaptations have come even close to depicting it (in fact, none even try to cover the whole novel, only parts of it). I definitely recommend reading it.
