I use the same mylar pouches myself and they are a game changer in my camping meals. I've had Roast chicken dinners half way up a mountain in Wales in the rain and i thought it was hilarious that i was eating proper home cooked meals this way. I spent my 50th in the peak district and it was the best birthday ive had in absolutely ages . Go easy on the trifles , they can become addictive as my waistline knows only too well

The reason inside the bunker looked like wood is because they concrete was poured in layers into a wooden surround to keep the shape, it sets and the wood texture leaves an impression in the concrete. And the iron bars would have probably held telescopes, binoculars or radio equipment, it was an observation post rather than a defensive position👍🏻

Take this from a GO employee themselves. GO previously owned the brand label OEX.. although since JD sports brought out G O including all sister brands like OEX alongside. JD sports now owns OEX, this is the reason for them “not working with people” furthermore they make products in alternative factories and just plonk the OEX brand on.. same with some of the old higear stuff, it’s all been rebranded with Eurohike. It’s a shame because two lads who were Ex GO employees founded Oex and done a cracking job at first! Now Oex as a brand is falling behind in most aspects compared to other Keep creating bud, love the mix of content it’s never the same stuff. Makes for a good taste of all geeza! 🎉
I live in a van full time with my staffie and when anyone sees me parked up they sometimes come for a chat, and say to me that they would love to do what I'm doing.. the two loosers who shouted that to you are just jealous and to be honest are just pricks. It's great watching your videos especially the one last week with the walking sounds.i was a paranormal investigator a few years ago and would love to investigate that place. Hope you go back. I had such plans for this summer. But then all that was thrown into the air. I had to find a new house pretty sharpish and managed to fall out with just about everyone because of that. Then I fell ill with shingles not the nicest experience and I'm right smack in the middle of that.
Despite major health issues, getting out camping inspired by you and others was such a relief from everyday life.
Autumn now approaches and I wondered if I had missed the bus but your little speech has pepped me up. I'm not sure if I will be strong enough to get out this year but next year beckons. So thank you for your little speech. People are listening and good luck with your endeavours

Hello from New Mexico USA. Where I live there are miles of mountains, canyons, hills, and desolate nothingness with not very many people. I really don't need to go hiking to find an away spot so I mostly car I mean 4x4 truck camp. In the summer it gets 40C and mostly throw a shade screen over a 10x10 cabin tent, it can get very hot even at 5200-foot altitude, the cabin tent comes with a full rainfly but it rarely rains until the monoons. In the winter I have a 14x14 teepee the snow can be 4 feet or deeper nearby just a few miles away. In the winter you need a tent with steep sides, the cabin tent will collapse in the snow. Everything is frozen solid for about 2 - 3 months. I put food outside to freeze it. In winter the air can be very dry because of cold. At -30C a cup of hot water thrown in the air turns to ice before it hits the ground. I want to get a diesel heater the humidity from propane in a tent turns to frost inside when it's that cold. The best thing about the cold is the mud gets frozen and the truck gets good traction in frozen mud. You can go anywhere when the mud freezes but if it thaws you might have to wait for it to freeze again to get out.
The weather is not too bad. It's just a desolate place. If you get stuck it might be a few days hiking before you can find help or get a phone signal. I don't go that far now that I'm elderly. Also, we have wildlife predators like bears, and cougars here most of the time they are not a danger but they can be. If you hear something at night it is probably someone's cows, elk, or deer not Bigfoot. I threw rocks at Elk before because they were bugling next to the camp of 4 and nobody was sleeping. Cougars can sound like a woman screaming in horror. It can sound scary but you know what it is once you have heard them.
High elevation in Colorado is nearby just an hour's drive. You can even go above the timberline off-road. People make the mistake of not bringing cold-weather clothing in the summer. It could be 30C during the day but you're putting a jacket on in the evening and you find frost on the ground in the morning, then by noon, it's warm again. The best thing to have there is a tarp tent or something that can be set up in seconds even if you don't plan on spending the night. It can be sunny then rain in 10 minutes then it's sunny again at 11,000 feet. Just going on a hike you won't see the weather coming sometimes, you can plan on an hour hike on a sunny day and come back soaking wet. If I were a young hiker again a piece of Tyvek, cord, and a tarp tent is the only thing I would put in my backpack. I used an 8x8 tarp and painter's plastic lay down on before when I hiked 8 miles into the Colorado wilderness area. It's a good idea to spray cloths with permethrin tick spray and let it dry on your cold-weather clothing for summer. Really spray everything with tick spray cloths, even the sleeping bag and tarp tent it makes a difference in some places.

Hi Dan, Those bags you showed us from Amazon. I bought some to try. They are amazing. When I cook dinners, I always do extra. What's left, I put a dinner size portion in a bag and vacuum pack them and stick them in the freezer. When the wife and I go out for the day, we have a ready-made meal, boil them in the bag, and enjoy. I had actually been looking for these bags for a couple of years. So, a great big thanks for pointing use in the right direction. As always, thanks for sharing the videos.

Just want to say you inspired us to get out and go camping so we did we got a family tent (wynnster marseille) think that's what it's called we had a great time setting up going out walking and exploring then in the evening the RAIN come and guess what the tent leaked it was dripping inside it was awful 😂 but didn't break our camping spirit I will try and get a better tent and try it again sure it will be better if the tent don't leak hahaha once again thanks for youre vids me and my partner really enjoy them stay safe mate.

If nothing else. One thing I have learned from my camping/ hikes. I don't drink anything hot from metal mugs. I use my wooden kuksa or my bigger Kupilka cup. I don't want to burn my lips :-D

I thinkbyou hit the nail on the head with the question you posed yourself. If you have an easy option out of a tough situation your mind will hold onto that and the path of least riddance is always appealing to the primal survival instinct in the human brain. This instinct is very hard to fight and can be as detrimental as the perceived threat itself.

That bunker is call a pillbox there are lots of them scattered around the country, you often see them beside rivers and older railway lines, those bits of metal would have been to hold the guns, my mates and I used to play in them when we were kids, even had the odd fire and cooked a sausage in them shhhh

As always great video Dan. Exactly my kind of camping. Only difference is cleaning dishes or food leftover is away from the tent or camp. Here in Ontario Canada we do have black bears. Not as aggressive as brown bears but still I do t want them anywhere around me. Lol.

Happy Birthday Daniel. It's amazing, you don't look a day over 40!! I would ask some of your American audience to send you some ' Bear Spray'. You know, for those occasions when passers by get a bit unruly. It's always nice to have some kind of deterrent for these t**ts/people.
I have a Vango TBS 100 tent that's about 20 years old and looks very similar to the Bobcat 1, only it's purple instead of green. I got it to take on the back of my bike. But with all the gear and a helmet, it was just way too small. And now that I am 60 and a bit more fragile, it's way, way too small. It's like trying to get comfy in Harry Potters understairs cupboard, lol.........
