I'm genuinely impressed. It's great to see a manufacturer make everything in-house, in these days of outsourcing and assemblers calling themselves 'engineering companies.'
Mr. Longthorne sounds proper. Great stuff. Enjoyed that.

Written (in yellow ) on the billet which is used for making the action in Jonny’s hand is ‘EN40B’. This was the steel used to make Mini Cooper S crankshafts in the 60’s. Very high quality steel which could be nitrided (heat treated).

But after the man described how the barrels are made with 40 hours into them, I think I'd prefer to buy this gun over those historical, premium names with pedigree. Barrels are traditionally drilled by gun drills which do not follow a pre set course. When drilled they are straightened, reamed and then they are turned outside to bring the outside concentric with the bore. Then they are joined with hard solder with ribs and regulated to shoot to the correct point of aim in the final boring. The process shown here is good for one barrel, but how can the second barrel drilled to be in the correct convergence with the first? The gun drill is at the end of a long shaft which is 29 inches from the driver.

  • @felgate11

I wonder about a combination of side by side & under & over, ie barrels at 45 or 30 degrees?? Birds at left to right or right to left could determine which barrel first or could level the playing field?? Never fired a shotgun - I do Air Rifles but I'm an Engineer.
Wouldn't hurt to have a play as your barrels are one piece billets!!
