Rocinha now is a city in itself. I don't know if it's true that whole families live on 16 dollars a month at Rocinha. Maybe at some other favelas. Rents at Rocinha are at least 100 dollars.
@@dolydoly5679 I get you, you have a very clear point, all you said about Brazil's history it was true! But please dont say you don't like his videos, they said they were just showing from their point of view mixed with his thoughts about it. It's much better if they see, live and in colors what is like a real favela, be presented to the real routine than just keeping the eyes closed to their reality and don't show to the rest of the world that there's human beings in there, every single one with different lives living and surviving how they can, this video can open the eyes of those who have forgotten about this people!
@@xande9957 It's incorrect because of the judgment, because he is being pety. By his point of view, favela's shouldn't offer tours because he is ashamed of his own history. So let's say people would actually hear his opinion, what would be the outcome? Favelas would be less seen therefore more forgotten. The direct effect would be that Carlos, the tour guide, would be unemployed and there would be less cash inflow thanks to the lack of tourists. But who cares about that? What really matters is that a false moralist can lie down comfortably knowing favelas aren't any european tourists "exploiting" the favelas. Great logic.
@@OskarandDan I am not 100% sure if this is still true, but there used to be a Brazil Pass that you can only purchase outside of the country. A lot cheaper and allows you to choose 5 different cities to fly to. I've used it twice when I lived overseas. Great deal... it was like U$500 at the time.

It's sad this actually happens pretty often in Brazil. The delay in the abolition of slavery, poor leadership and social inequality were combined and ended up forming the favelas. The saddest part is that the government tries to hide it, which happened in the 2016 Olympics.
Im brazilian from Rio - specifically from the other side of that Guanabara Bay, Niterói - and you guys were really respectful and comprehensive about the sad side of my country, also loved how you guys enjoyed your time around here! I will stick around to watch you guys travelling around the world!
Well done, i enjoyed the series. Visited Brazil twice and went to a lot of the places that were highlighted, Did not go to the favella when I visited Rio, thought it would be too dangerous. It was interesting to get a brief glimpse into the life in the favella.
Very good to see people like you visiting, and sharing a good and honest opinion about what you feel, and saw in & about Brazil. I enjoyed watching and having your series to share with my daughters that visited Brazil when they were so young. Last time I visited was alone for a week back in 2019. When you are here in CA,USA please let me know, and I would love to have you both for a coffee with Pão de Queijo at my home. ;)
Hey Oskar and Dan! I love that place, actually Samba was born as a rythm, mix of african instruments and european references and indigenous contributions, the Gafieira Samba Later it got mixed with Jazz and R&B and originated Bossa Nova. That's so nice guys! Most of brazilians don't know the favelas, There are are even more who have never been to one. I like to hear your perspective, as travellers who have been to preety much everywhere! Next time you can try to see more of the southern, environmental, botanical and sustainable cities. The european colonies, the mixed cultures... most of the places are also very calm and safe. Thank you guys! Have a safe trip, aways come back and have a Mery Christmas nd Happy New Year!
Thank you for all the videos, you need to come back soon, you guys didn't even scratched the surface of Brazil, you need to visit Amazon forest, Jalapão, Jericoacoara, Lençóis Maranhenses (witch was featured in the Avengers as the Soul stone planet)
I loved this series! As a brazilian, I'm truly happy that you guys had an amazing experience here. Ps: The place you went as "Pedra do Sal" in Rio is actually "Largo da Prainha". Pedra do Sal is actually pretty near, but it's a different place. You should come back to check there anytime! :)
I`m brazilian and about 9 years ago when I went to Rio, by work, for the first time I was afraid, but I saw that wasn't true all that horrible things on my mind, and millions of people and many friends live there, also many things there are like my region (São Paulo's suburbs). I agree with you, the vibe of this city is uncomparable, I went there many times and also be in love by copacabana... I specially love the rio`s sight (specially Copacabana) seen from plane depaturing at night to São Paulo... this is wonderful!
After going through the Favelas, I bet you guys are thanking your lucky stars as we all should. That’s a rough life. I know a lot of Brazilians through my tennis career but I’ve never heard of the Favelas. Great work guys!❤️✈️
Thank you for your honest account of what you could see in my country. I am happy you enjoyed it. Now, you're going to Thailand. I have been there four times and love it almost as much as I love Brazil. Have a great trip!
Thank you for visiting us!!!! Amazing 7 episodes .. I saw all. The one that I most liked was the Itaparica´s one, when you stayed with Jacyra .. I think maybe you understood why she decided to come back to Brazil and how is the life of the Brazilians in general ... Hope you enjoyed (looks you did!!!!!! ;) )! Since Brazil is huge, there is a lot more to you to see!!!!! Make Brazil´s part 2 journey !!!!!!!!!!! You both are great!
I'm so happy to see my country Brazil portrayed by you, guys :) Thank you for showing the good and the bad of this amazing country. Yes, I used to miss açai when I lived abroad (for more than 10 years), now I can have açai, guarana, pao de queijo, maracuja any time!!
Thank you for coming here, although i am Brazilian I've learned so much, because when you live in u take things for granted and doesn't actually explore, I've neve been in a favela and everything that i know is what midia says, crimes, homicides, but when i go to Rio i'll definitely go
Hi Oskar and Dan! Thank you for the beautiful and positive perspective you guys gave about the tourism in Brasil! Our country has its issues, but still is a great place, which I proudly call home! #ProudToBeBrazilian
Wow that was interesting !! I am one of those folks who hears a lot about the bad things, but isn't aware of the other side. I appreciate you shedding a little bit of light on favelas. And thank you for shedding light no the correct pronounciation of "acai".
aww u guys are so great! i was in brazil a few weeks ago and im dying to go back! i actually stayed in copacabana when i was in rio and i went to that same açai store shown at the end!! que saudadessss
you guys made me really wanna go to brazil :) i have had many brazilian friends for years who call me gringo kkkkk, but i have actually never seen the cities or favelas like this. amazing videos

Meanwhile you made the absolute most you could out of 2021 Will be keenly following through 2022. All the best to you both, Nonstop Mom and Jakob for Christmas and New Year from Perth Oz.
Its was awesome, following you guys in this journey, i think you guys in this last video is anothers ppl, in this video i had impression that you guys live here for a long long time, this journey finished 10/10
This title is completely wrong. Actually the Favelas are one of the most things known by tourists in Brazil and foreigners who never touched Brazil as well . A lot people in favelas actually lives by selling things to tourists.
True. I mentioned the same thing just now. The real side of Brazil that tourists don't see is Brazil with a high HDI, places like the cities in the southern region founded by European immigrants, for example: Gramado, Blumenau, Balneário Camuburiú, Novo Hamburgo, Joinville, Pomerode, Florianópolis, Curitiba etc (Lugares que americanos nunca imaginam que existe no Brasil).
I think they come here just to look for what is poor, more poor they cam find any other place, and lies to when he said that people in the favelas makes $16 dollars a month what a big mistake this was.
Hey... Brazilian here. Hope you guys felt all the possibilities and strength our beautiful country has to show! And thank you for showing our country with respect and true excitement.. not like a bunch of gringos that come just to see "how exotic the third world is". And of course: please come back! I challange you guys to come to my state: Mato Grosso do Sul and visit Pantanal, one of the largest ecosystems in the world (that's being destroyed by our criminal goverment). Brazil and açaí will be waiting for you guys (:
Next time try to go see more of the north and maybe visit the capital cuz it is a very different place from the rest of the Brazil. It was very fun to watch ur trip guys! Wish u all the best!!!
As a Brazilian from São Paulo, thank you!! This series is soooo amazing, I believe you know my country better than I do now! Lol I hope Dan uploads the flight reviews on his channel!! Btw, I have criticized Dan on the Widerøe E2 video. Well I had to review my opinions, because you guys are so awesome and I now believe that the comment I’ve made before doesn’t make sense after learning a bit more about you! Safe travels and keep the vlogs coming!! Lots of love from 🇧🇷❤️
If you guys come back, I very much suggest you go to the cities of Lençois and Mucugê in the Chapada Diamantina here in Bahia! They're beautiful cities, and they've got lots of nature-related things to do, like exploring caves, mountains, lakes, and cool natural formations! Also, I'd suggest going to the coastal cities north of Salvador, like Porto Seguro and Praia do Forte. There are lots of beautiful beach towns, and in Praia do Forte you can visit Projeto Tamar, a marine conservation non-profit that shows a lot of stuff about sea turtles and stuff, it's a really interesting experience!
Aqui no Rio, vocês precisam conhecer Petrópolis, Cidade Imperial.
Heyyy this is Brazil: great people, amazing landscapes, great food. I hope You had an unbelievable experience, and next time you can stay at my house LOL, xo from Brazil...

lula na cadeia isso sim.
you guys are really cute! Im brazilian from Rio - specifically from the other side of that Guanabara Bay, Niterói - and you guys were really respectful and comprehensive about the sad side of my country, also loved how you guys enjoyed your time around here! I will stick around to watch you guys travelling around the world!
Obrigado Marta!🙏
Well done, i enjoyed the series. Visited Brazil twice and went to a lot of the places that were highlighted, Did not go to the favella when I visited Rio, thought it would be too dangerous. It was interesting to get a brief glimpse into the life in the favella.

Thanks Junior!
😭😭😭😭 we gonna miss you guys! Love you! ❤
Best wishes for a happy and relaxing holiday season, Oskar and Dan.
Thanks Andrey! Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Thank you Tayná!
Yes, im glad someone pointed that out. You guys didnt go to Pedra do Sal. Maybe it would be nice to add a note in the description correcting that.
I loved your videos! Hope you both come back to Brazil.
Thanks Monica! Hope you'll stick around🙏

Watched the whole series, at the end what Michael, (favela guide) said struck me.......we as human beings has to progress!!
Awesome job you guys
Thank you so much Nelson😍
I'm so happy to see my country Brazil portrayed by you, guys :) Thank you for showing the good and the bad of this amazing country. Yes, I used to miss açai when I lived abroad (for more than 10 years), now I can have açai, guarana, pao de queijo, maracuja any time!!
Send some açaí and guaraná!!
Thank you for visiting Brazil!!!!
Thanks for having us!
The moment I saw your hotel room in Rio I thought it was the same bite were I stayed in 2018, and it was! So cool!
Thank you for coming here, although i am Brazilian I've learned so much, because when you live in u take things for granted and doesn't actually explore, I've neve been in a favela and everything that i know is what midia says, crimes, homicides, but when i go to Rio i'll definitely go
We're glad to hear it's been useful even for Brazilians!
Amazing video guys! I loved seeing 2 gringos exploring my home country. You guys are always welcome to come and have Açaí !
Obrigada! It was lovely to watch your journey through our country! I'll follow the next ones as well

Hi Oskar and Dan! Thank you for the beautiful and positive perspective you guys gave about the tourism in Brasil!
Our country has its issues, but still is a great place, which I proudly call home!
#ProudToBeBrazilian
Congrats guys!!! Among so many great places to see in Brazil you choose right the worst.
Great video as always!
Thanks Alvaro!
Thanks for your perspective of our country. Happy hollidays!
Best wishes for the new year Ronaldo!
Wow that was interesting !! I am one of those folks who hears a lot about the bad things, but isn't aware of the other side. I appreciate you shedding a little bit of light on favelas. And thank you for shedding light no the correct pronounciation of "acai".
"akay" 😂
aww u guys are so great! i was in brazil a few weeks ago and im dying to go back! i actually stayed in copacabana when i was in rio and i went to that same açai store shown at the end!! que saudadessss
Amazing Angel!🙌
Hey, Oskar and Dan.
Would you recall the name of the lunch place/building at around the 5:30 mark?
That place looks pretty cool 😎
you guys made me really wanna go to brazil :) i have had many brazilian friends for years who call me gringo kkkkk, but i have actually never seen the cities or favelas like this. amazing videos

Thank you Irma, Merry Christmas to you too!💗

Its was awesome, following you guys in this journey, i think you guys in this last video is anothers ppl, in this video i had impression that you guys live here for a long long time, this journey finished 10/10
Glad you could see the evolution!😄

Safari humano, eles encaram assim
Thank you! Hope you stick around😃💗
As a Brazilian from São Paulo, thank you!! This series is soooo amazing, I believe you know my country better than I do now! Lol
I hope Dan uploads the flight reviews on his channel!!
Btw, I have criticized Dan on the Widerøe E2 video. Well I had to review my opinions, because you guys are so awesome and I now believe that the comment I’ve made before doesn’t make sense after learning a bit more about you!
Safe travels and keep the vlogs coming!!
Lots of love from 🇧🇷❤️
Thank you! So glad you like it🙌❤️
3:45 a little off topic but I just LIVE for these Drag Race memes on your videos, i laugh everytime
Tbh, we live for them too😂
If you guys come back, I very much suggest you go to the cities of Lençois and Mucugê in the Chapada Diamantina here in Bahia!
The best series
i think i said this twice but go to bolivia. I appreciate tho that you went into depth in brazil. love it.
Heyyy this is Brazil: great people, amazing landscapes, great food. I hope You had an unbelievable experience, and next time you can stay at my house LOL, xo from Brazil...
