Thanks. However, now the real VERY SAD issues with these feral and stray cats that are suffering, and if you are watching DW German News and BBC UK News is that the people in war-torn Gaza are starving due to the lack of food coming in from Rafa (border town with Egypt), are now resorting to hunting down for feral and stray cats and kittens, and setting traps with bait in hessian sacks, so that when these cats enter them for food, they are immediately TRAPPED, and could NOT escape, and the sack is then tied-up, and with the alive cat trapped inside, the cat or kitten is STABBED to death inside the bag while the blood is drained-out. When no more blood is dripping and the sack is no longer moving, you all know the rest. Then the dead cat is prepped to be eaten by the starving people of Gaza due to the lack of food coming in from Rafa. Thus cooking it on an outdoor pot is required, since many residential dwellings are now destroyed since the October 7, 2023 attacks. So where is God or Allah when you need him ??? Its NO FAKE NEWS either. Have a nice day, and have some compassion for these suffering people there as well.☹

By that logic I as a Turk have no respect and love towards Russians because they don't treat animals like us. And no, there is nothing to change my ideas I guess. I can't believe how people like you say such things and think you are being kind. Russians and their arrogance and childish behaviours aren't loved here. We love kindness
Ruslar Türkiye de yaşıyor. Nasıl Türkiye hakkında bu şekilde konuşursun . Bizim ülkemizde bir çok Rus var . Keşke herkes Rusya'ya dönse . Soğuk insanlar.
Istanbul is the capital of cats... Even in the modern complex, there are dozens of cats roaming freely in the garden and inside the buildings. As soon as you enter the building, they surround you and meow.
All that hunter-killer instinct and they still manage to charm the pants off of us. Let's face it, some predators can be soft on the inside and fall hard for those they like. Another cute hunter is jumping spiders.
As an American and a Californian, the symbol city of American development, how do you evaluate Turkish development? Do you think we are close to Europe and America in terms of modernity? What is missing? What is more?

Cihangir is a rich neighborhood so it's normal that their cats are well fed but surprisingly enough even in the poor neighborhoods you'll rarely find a skinny cat

While I was in Turkey, my Turkish friend told me to look at the stray animals of the place you are moving to. If it's friendly to people, it's a good neighbourhood. If they are running away from people, he said stay away from that neighborhood 🙂
Compared to west, where virtually no street animals exists, Turkey is obviously a cat heaven in comparison. Surely, we got things that we can improve but hey, who doesn’t. I would like to thank people like Hilary for supporting our animal friends. There are LOTS of people and organizations that are helping street animals on a daily basis. Chin up! And thank you for this video that is showing another layer of this diverse land. Hope it brings joy to the viewers.
You're right. I think the biggest issue with animals in our country is that there aren't actually any laws for animals. People can just... do whatever they want. And there are a lot of psychopaths in Turkey.
I didnt know this and my heart feels so full watching this video!!💖 This is the perfect place to bring my sister for vacation! We have been feeding and caring for street cats all our lives. This was so beautifully made!🙏
I live in Istanbul and there are many cats on our street and that's why we are very happy. Since there were many cats and they had a family, we named them grandmother, child and grandchild. I don't know what name we will give for the next step :D
Lol yes, I live in Eskişehir and our neighborhood cats are also 4 generation orange cats. Others also have families but their kids decided to venture out into other neighborhoods. The ones we feed and take care of are great-grandmother orange cat and her children the grandma orange, grandson orange and 4th generation greatgranddaughter orange lmao.

I am in my thirties and always lived in cities of Turkey both in center towns and close neighborhoods and I only have seen a mouse or a rat maybe five times at most in my whole life; I don't even know what is the different between mouse and rat, they all mouse for me. Anyway, when I see videos of big cities like NY, London and like many others with rats running on the streets everywhere no matter day or night, I always think the problem is the lack of cats and dogs in those cities. I love seeing cats on streets even if I hate their loud meeting fights in the middle of the night. Gülü seven dikenine katlanır.
I lived in Turkiye absolutely newer seen any pesticides problems house or streets.. right now I’m live in US here’s rat or mouse haven🙀 we try every think for stop them come.. unfortunately just spend money ☹️ then suddenly we found one street cat and we feed it right now more then 10 street cat everyday 2 times feed them our deck last one year any mouse we not see anymore.. 😺
As a second generation 45 yo local of Istanbul, I can confirm that majority likes and enjoys the cats. It has been always like that. A cat can cross your way somewhere totally unexpected and can make your day with their friendly cuddle. You just forget your anger, problem or whatever keeps your mind busy and pay your attention to it. This possiblity alone makes them worth to have around. Burying own poop, being usually quiet and hunting rodents are the bonus.
I live in Eskişehir, another city in Turkey which is right next to capital Ankara, and the situation is the same here as it is in most of the country. We all have street cats who are fed by the locals, neighbors, and shop owners, cafes and restaurants. It's not just something specific to Istanbul, but you guys just know about Istanbul and don't care about other cities in Turkey so that'a why Istanbul is famous for its cats. Normally it's not a specific situation to Istanbul. For example our neighborhood cats are 4 of generation orange cats. Other cats also have families but their kids decided to venture out into other neighborhoods. The ones we feed and take care of are great-grandmother orange cat and her children the grandma orange, grandson orange and 4th generation greatgranddaughter orange lmao. Our neighbors or whoever is available feed them and they seek shelter in our gardens where we all built small houses for them.
Don't take that guys view like its general, that dude from Cihangir obviously doesn't know anything else outside of his neighbourhood. I am from Istanbul but his statement also made me frown. We know that this is how the people of our country treats to animals as whole not just istanbul or cihangir etc.
That is a wonderful Turkish characteristic in general then ! So happy to hear this ! It's only human to fasten onto recognizable things, take heart in Ontario Canada we have 250 thousand lakes but no one knows anything about canada, or they've heard of Toronto or Vancouver or couple cities. We love cats and I wish streets were like this in the towns and cities.

A tremendous and well researched video. Thank you for keeping us all informed and showing us so many examples of the adorable cats, and wonderful people, of Istanbul. Just like any human these dear little creatures want safety and comfort. They lead such dangerous and wild lives. Often, when i see them appreciating the affection we give them, I fear for their sanity and wellbeing. They appear to gain so much relief from our care. One can barely imagine the pressures they go through.
I think its amazing how everyone embrace and all share the care of the cats around the city. Sad to see the lady being so negative, your going to get odd poorly cat but its the circle of life and these cats are living free. People accept them to move in to live if they want to, but the cats clearly don't want to be domestic pets. i think she was right on one thing they could spay the set number a year everything needs a happy balance and to prevent too many unnecessary poorly cats so they cant be cared for then she has a point

I can't believe how people like you say such things and think you are being kind. Russians and their arrogance and childish behaviours aren't loved here. We love kindness

Istanbul is the capital of cats... Even in the modern complex, there are dozens of cats roaming freely in the garden and inside the buildings. As soon as you enter the building, they surround you and meow.

While I was in Turkey, my Turkish friend told me to look at the stray animals of the place you are moving to. If it's friendly to people, it's a good neighbourhood. If they are running away from people, he said stay away from that neighborhood 🙂
I love istanbul, I love the people of istanbul. They really take good care of the cats.

Cats can also enter mosques because according to Islam, cats are clean animals. The Prophet Muhammad loved cats very much.
it has nothing to do with islam. You can't see stray cats in any Arab country. this is old turkish culture
Don't talk nonsense. Cats are valued in Islamic culture. There is even a friend of the prophet named father of cats.@@sscourcher522
The love of all animals with Turks goes back millennia way before there was Islam. Look at other Islamic countries and see how they treat animals, and stop assigning anything and everything good to being a Muslim. You are turning people agnostics and atheists through this shop window Islam that’s being displayed by the cohorts of this regime.
