I'm Syrian who escaped war and took refuge in Brazil, i arrived here 4 months ago with nothing to expect, and let me tell you so far everything was nothing but positive to me, i never met people so nice before, they are very cooperative, kind, and the least racist.
The Brazilans them selfs tell me that there are some rude people but so far i never met any, and they warn me of these stereotypes, but it never happened and i feel safe !
Honestly, i lived in a much much muuuuuch worse place that is no comparison with here !
The Brazilans love to live, to party , to dance, even if most of them don't have fortune, but they find a way to enjoy their life !
I would never have enough words to thank brazil and it's people for giving me second chance to live !

I am a Brit who has lived in Brazil for 22 years now. I have never been the victim of any crime and I have only witnessed 2 crimes first hand, both were phone snatches and happened because the person was flashing it around in public. The average person in Brazil is the nicest, kindest person you will meet and when they find out you are not Brazilian, they will go out of their way to help you and be even more nice and friendly. The food here is amazing and you can get food from any corner of the planet and yes Rappi is a must and even Brazilians often use it. I am not a party person either and not a drinker, so I can't comment on the night life that much, but the few times we have gone out, we have had a good time. There is a lot of crime in Brazil, but no more than any other major city, or touristic destination. One thing I didn't hear you mention, but I would warn people about, is taxi prices and that some will try to conn you. But like you said, its is much better to use Uber. I love living here and even though it isn't perfect, it is now my home! If anyone wants to visit here, I would highly recommend it and as long as you do your research and don't act like an idiot when you are here, you will be fine. I live in Sao Paulo, but I have visited Rio many times and Bahia too and loved them all. Rio is probably the most dangerous place in Brazil, but like you said, as long as you are "street wise" you will be ok. Good video!!!

@@nath4820 I can only talk about my own experience. I have been to Rio a few times and it was a place that was beautiful, but very dangerous! The beach can be dangerous because there are gangs of kids going around robbing people. Taxis was also robbing people. I haven’t been there in a long time though, but I do have friends that live there and they hate it and want to leave. Everyone’s experience can be different though, it might not be like that for everyone

Low profile is the key factor in Brazil...just take your personal car, park on a safe place and don't film and take pictures of everything smiling and chatting in English. Dressing like a local too...is not space science.
Chat in good well visiting places too...not in buses or streets.

I think we live in a dichotomy that we are either "jungle, samba, carnival, football" or "favelas, crimes, robbery" in the eyes of an unfamiliar foreigner, but at the end of the day we are just a poor country with rich culture. Down to the basics, we live like anyone else. We have our struggles with housing, we hate Mondays, we don't like out politicians, we love drama films and TV series. Racism, crime and discrimination only shows up because we were born and raised here, but assuming a place with enough freedom like France and Australia, we really are not different than them.
Come visit us! Our house is a mess, but you house probably is, as well, so we are together in this!

I am half Irish and I was not brought up there and when I was there they did not consider me Irish and the locals did not want to hang out with me. The weather is a horror movie of all year rain and clouds 😀🫣 the culture is work and material, I had many many jobs the 2 years there and their economy is strong but the quality of life compare to Brasil is zero…I see many Brasilians talk about their country they move to that it’s good because you can buy an iPhone cheaper and better salaries, but the place is super expensive, just sandwich in a pub with a coffee could end you up paying €20🤣 life is just work until weekend you get so drunk there I remember in the bus home people would literally be falling a throwing up in the bus because they drank sooooo much, crazy. In Brasil you go out and you can see 70 year old people having fun along with the young people and kids. It’s a different world but I suppose everyone like’s different things in life😀

Go to Santa Catarina ..it is fairly safe . In Santa Catarina you have the best beaches.Just watch the weather. The historical colonial towns is the Minas Gerais inland, are gorgeous and very safe . Belo Horizonte is safe for Brazilian standards . It is not a touristic city , but you can go there as a base for the colonial towns. Mato Grosso is also a gorgeous and safe place , you can visit the Pantanal there. Parana is also very safe , you can see the Iguacu falls. Rio Grande do Sul is gougeous and a lot of cities are safe . Porto Alegre the capital is less safe .There are a lot of resort hotels in the northeast part of Brazil. If you go to the resorts you are safe. Trancoso in Bahia is the fashionable place to go. But the safest capital in the northeast is Joao Pessoa. They have a very traditional hotel there Tambau.

So much negativity in this world! I spent 1 month in Brazil and still to this day people keep telling me how dangerous it is even though they have never been there. I stayed two weeks in Sao Paulo and two weeks in Rio (alone) and felt completely fine other than the odd homeless person on drugs. People have been brainwashed by the cliches and I too almost never went to Brazil because I was scared how dangerous it was! Even the Brazilian people talk bad about their own country. Don't believe anyone.

    • @rodrigoadea
      @rodrigoadea 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

No negativity at all, violence is really a big problem in our country since impunity is the law in Brazil. The police sometimes catch the same criminal twice or even three times in a little period of time just cause the criminals go back to the streets since we have a flawed and weak legislation and judiciary. Drug traffic indeed raise the numbers of violence in our country but that is not the only problem we suffer in here. We have one of the highest taxes in the world and still we have to spend a lot of money with private security and/or other ways to keep us safe.
Having those high taxes come with a price... popular services and products are all mediocre or just bad quality because most people can't afford to buy anything average. We really are suffocating here trying to pay for this gigantic taxes and still having to pay for private school, private security, private anything you can think of. If you want anything at least average, think private in Brazil.
The Violence is just so great that shielding cars is something "normal" in my town. And I'm not talking about local celebrities here. The car shielding companies here even have a wait list for the few that can afford such service.
Is no coincidence people talk about the great violence we have here but most could probably spent a few weeks on the tourist spots and never experience anything major but we can say that could apply to almost anywhere in the world. Tourist spots are always the most taken care so we dont experience the actual reality of the place we are visiting.

This video brought tears to my eyes for several moments. I'm a Brazilian living abroad, and I can say that many of these negative stereotypes come from ourselves. We have a terrible underdog syndrome, and often, we forget to value and praise everything wonderful about us.
Thank you very much for bringing such a positive vision, which I, as a Brazilian, often forget and take it for granted.

As a Brazilian, I'm flattered to hear so many good things about Brazil.
Every time I've been outside the country I've seen how people have a wrong image of here and how they're not open to getting to know our culture. It's great to see "gringos" saying so many wonderful things and helping to spread the word about the magical and welcoming place that is Brazil, and for that: THANK YOU! It warms my heart to hear about your experience here.

As a Brazilian, hearing about your experience is so refreshing! Many Brazilians (sometimes me included) underestimate the country, and often look for international trips, which are obviously nice and necessary , but makes them forget about how awesome the tourism in the country can be!
I agree with many of your takes, especially the “not visiting the favelas” one. It’s not only unsafe, but also disrespectful, and I think the poverty tourism in the world should stop!
As long as I understand what you guys said about the sensationalism surrounding the safety in brazil, and crimes like pickpocketing happening in a lot of places in the world, including Europe, inconveniences do happen here, and unfortunately they are not rare! So, even tho you guys had a good experience, next time you come, (especially to rio and São Paulo) be as attentive, or even more, as you were the last time!!
Lastly, even tho you guys had already been to what I (and many others) think is the coolest city of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, I would recommend you to visit the northeast beaches of Brazil, especially LENÇÓIS MARANHENSES, TRANCOSO and FERNANDO DE NORONHA , THE AMAZON RAINFOREST, in the north, the state of Minas Gerais, especially the lovely city of OURO PRETO and CHAPADA DOS VEADEIROS, a crazy spot in the center of Brazil, close to the capital BRASILIA, that it’s far for being the best city in Brazil, but it’s cool to visit for a day and admire the strange architecture of Oscar Nieymayer! Everywhere in the world there must be a certain type of violence. Here we are having problems in Rio de Janeiro (which I hear about most on TV), but I've already traveled there and it was a really cool experience! I walked around the Center, through Lapa, through the Botanical Garden, visited several beaches, Pão de Açúcar, took the bus, taxi... I didn't have any problems. was pretty cool. We see a lot of bad news on TV and this makes us think that everything is just violence... all the time. it's not like this. You can come for a walk and it will be cool. Just be careful with your bag, always leave it in front of your body, don't use your cell phone without paying attention. They are the easiest things to steal. :)

Eu te recomendo visitar o Sul do País. Santa Catarina; Rio grande do Sul e Paraná.

Hey guys ! Just bumped into your video and I am very grateful for the positive comments and amazing recommendations.
As a tour guide in Rio I need to share these tricks to make the tourist traps less traumatic. First, the Christ has tram starting 7:30 am - definitely the best time to visit the monument or the last one at 5pm
The Sugar Loaf for sunset is mandatory BUT do not arrive there after 3 pm ! It will take a while until the sunsets but there’s plenty to see and experience up there and everything will be easier. Trick hint… do not wait for the sunset on top of Sugar Loaf, visit it and come down to Urca Hill before the sun starts disappearing, this way you avoid the big lines to exit both hills.
These are hints from an experienced tour guide in town. You really should consider booking a tour with local guides cause many upsettings can be avoided! Thank you for this amazing video!

I’m Brazilian, living in UK, and I often come across people saying Brazil is beautiful but they would never go there because it’s dangerous, it’s hard to convince them when all they see about Brazil is violence but from now on I will just show you’re video to anyone who thinks Brazil isn’t worth to visit. But what helps to overcome all of those negative emotions & insecurities is moving forward with gratitude! So many people would dream to be in the exact situation that you are in.. take these moments in, and understand that no one is judging you at all for being alone - and even if they were, you will most likely never see them again. Use this trip to connect deeper with yourself and appreciate this beautiful world that we live on ❤️

I loved the city so much that 3 months after my visit I booked another flight and spent 10 more day in this unbelievably vigorous and lively city. It has become one of my favorites, if not the favorite city in the world, the best energy by far. As a European living in Brasil I would recommend not for love or anything I would waste my life in shit europe. It’s negative and the whole time you will waste working and living there might be ok for an experience but it won’t every be worth it in the end. Better be happy with fun people, have a lot of sun light and eat organic food everyday. Staying in europe you will end up sick from the shot nutrition they feed their people ( Lidl sick food ), it’s almost impossible for a real Brasilian at heart to live in europe, they are close minded and racist, they are always ironic and don’t know what it means to offer help and be a giver and stay kind…here in Brasil it’s normal to ask for a hand…you ask a lady madam let me help you with that and automatically she will sit back and accept and then will bless you telling you Deus a Bençõe, it’s beautiful. Try to keep the European experience short and sweet and return to where Deus lives🥰🇧🇷

oh guys, you got me in tears! im brazilian and i live in usa. i always try to talk and show a little of my country to people here because i honestly feel that what you hear about brazil is so unfair. you described everything with the same passion that i do, you truly captured our spirit! and i totally agree with you main choices of sao paulo, rio and salvador. i love your content, im sending to all my american friends and im planning to take my boyfriend to meet brazil, so he's definitely watching it too! thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much for this video! I'm Brazilian and I'm outraged by people sharing such a bad image of other countries. This doesn't just happen to Brazil. Every country has its culture, its people and, of course, its flaws too, but this does not devalue all the positive points. Thank you for bringing this attentive and caring look to Brazil. I hope that your video can reach many people and change the bad image that some have of our country. Come back often! 😘
