I've been living in Texas for 30 years and your right about no one can drive. I see so many on thier cell phones.. all the cowboys driving the big trucks believe they because they have 4 wheel drive they can go as fast as they want even on ice.
I can answer the 1st question about traffic signals. According to a TXDOT signal worker I spoke to long ago, his response was..."Vehicles that sit directly above the cuts trigger the lights better than those that sit outside of them.” Here's where this can cause some issues for motorcycles. Due to motorbikes lacking weight and conductive materials, the induction loops sometimes can't detect the waiting vehicle". The newer signals are more advanced and require less weight or have more sensitivity in the electrical "Loop" under the pavement. Typically, the older the "trap" is, the more it has been paved over, the more it requires to be tripped. There you have it from the guys in the know. Glad to be as helpful as I can. I DO run them, after a couple of cycles if no other vehicles are present...lol
