I have been cleaning carpets, lounge suites etc for 15 years. The recommended method is to use an extraction machine using hot water and low foam carpet and upholstery cleaning chemical
seems a wet vac or hot water carpet extractor sucking out all those dirty suds would be better than pushing a towel down on them.i think that would lift the dirt out
AKO SI-ANO ...Your right have they used a steam carpet cleaner that would have came out great ! Instead of trying to use a billion towels.. And he is worried of the suds damaging the extractor !The shampoo suds and dirt will not harm a extractor, that's its job, extract the rug shampoo and dirt..
AKO SI-ANO: I was thinking the SAME thing. Maybe use a steam cleaner to loosen the dirt, then apply some soapy water to further loosen the dirt along with some scrubbing action and then use a high power wet vacuum to suck up all the dirt.
1st spray a degreaser all over carpets let set up for 3-5 mins.. 2nd use warm/hot water with dish or laundry or a soap of your choice in a bucket.. 3rd use a nice brush to scrub carpets ... 4th use dry/wet shop vac to suck up soap and water and degreaser ... 5th repeat process 3-4 times depending on severity of dirt. 6th finally dry with towel..Bang Biscuit carpets will look pro.... Always worked for me!!
Only blot after you have use the extractor, also a really good wet/dry vac 6.0hp will do great and then blot the water, if you are blotting and your towel is dirty then stop and clean and extract more
he's wasting his time scrubbing that carpet. should have gone straight to extraction. my civics driver side is as dirty as the car he's working on i've been through 5 tanks of cleaner on my bissil little green extractor and the water as finally turned from black to brown. no way he's getting that carpet clean with a brush and a bit of shampoo.
I once removed the entire carpet out of a car, and cleaned it with like laundry soap, and a bit of dish soap i believe, and hosed it a lot and I removed so much from it. I had a brand new looking carpet in the end!
If the carpet is badly stained take it out, hang it up, add cleaner and waterblast... Let dry, condition and reinstall. Yes it takes time with removing seats and trims but I think that for a presale it's the best way
didn't even show progress to the end result. how do we know you didn't use carpet dye? vacuum the soap up not wipe it. not trying to bash your video but could've been made so much better and wouldn't have all of these negative reviews.
Works 10x better if you Flood/Saturate the carpet with cleaner... let it sit.. then use a trickling hose .. flooding it with water from the edges inward while sucking up with a SHOP VAC with Upholstery attachment........ rinse, repeat... then leave car doors open for 5-6 hours.. IT WILL DRY... Make sure it's a nice warm day.....
Pulling the seats for me is a way to really get at it throughly and when the seats are out you’d be surprised how much work gets done in a shorter amount of time.
I’ve worked in the detailing bizz and that final “wipe” was basically brushing the carpet forward so it “looks” better or brightens up the carpet. Once he brushes the carpet back it still looks brown.
First I tried this meathod, but I noticed all the dirt I thought I was "lifting" was just setting the stain even worse. So I modified the setup, brushing the carpet fibers up before and during the first vacume then spreading soap using the hand brush and the DA as needed. Finally I did a final wetvac with a 1 1/2 inch hose.
I see a lot of places scrub and scrub and scrub and use all these chemicals. It would be much easier to remove the seats and remove the carpet. Once that is done, you can hit it with some degreaser and soap then pressure wash it. Hang to dry and reinstall. Business wise, it would be faster, easier, and more cost effective. No need to spend hours scrubbing, using towels, using costly chemicals, and so forth.
+Federico Contreras Great tip! If you're able to build something like that into your price and are capable of doing something like that then yes. But some carpets especially in some higher end vehicles are not as easy to just remove and if not not reinstalled properly or if something has goes wrong on taking apart or the reinstall then you might be out some money lol. Great tip & thanks for sharing!!
True, but the suggestion of course is not a one size fits all. Some cars are easier to brake down than others. Always a good thing to hire previous audio installers as they know how to break down cars quite well. Also, the person giving the estimate must know how to estimate the cost of such processes. I would not break down say a Lambo or Bentley, but a Honda or GMC is quite easy to do and would yield more profit. Overcharge the expensive vehicles as more care is required and over estimate by say 15% on domestic or easy imports to play it safe in case something goes wrong. Once you have experience breaking down X vehicle you can lower the 15% over estimate to say 5% or no percent. Good luck!
You're trying to tell me the time it takes to pull seats center consoles door sill moldings and all of that(potentially risking having to replace those parts if broken) is more cost effective than taking a rotary buffer with brush attachment and using a hot water extractor is more time effective? Personally if i were to pay someone to detail my carpet i would 100% not feel comfortable with them taking out anything other than my seats!

Yes it is more cost effective. Trust me I know what I am talking about. What do you drive? A Bentley? Its a few bolts to remove front seats and a few bolts for rear seats. I could turn the argument around and tell you that if your under padding becomes soaked, you could be looking at rust damage. 99% of the cars on the market today are easy to break down and minimal work is needed to obtain an awesome finished product. This type of work is not for everyone and especially those who are unskilled. However, with the proper skill set, breaking down and removing a carpet in the majority of vehicles is pretty easy and the end finish is 100 times better. Similarly, it would be like cleaning a vehicles cloth seat when still attached to the car. Can you do it? Yes. Will it look good? Maybe, but removing the seat and treating stains and washing it with a pressure washer and leaving it to air dry would achieve a much better result. I've done it several times in my Jeep and others and the results are way better. To each his own, but you can't knock something you have no clue about. I doubt you are car savvy.....
I just brush it with dishwasher and degreaser then hit it with the pressure washer. Vaccum the water out and let the doors open on the car for a while for it to dry..faster better and easier
Great video, I really like how you worked on a car that had a dirty carpet. Unlike some videos where "other guys" work on relatively clean cars. Great job.
Why would you put all that soap in a small area? I doubt that will ever come out. I would just as soon see it diluted and sprayed around. Seems half the work was just getting the soap spread out.
All you really need to do is use purple stuff or simply green and pour it onto the carpet and no use a scrub brush and when you are done scrubbing the carpet use a shop vac vacuum and suck up all the dirty foam that the scrub brush left behind. And the purple stuff or the simply green only cost a couple dollars and it really works and it's very easy to do.
Step One=Spray any good general purpose cleaner and soak area followed by hot waterStep Two= Scrub area with stiff brushStep Three=Vacuum with shop-vac
Very labor intensive and as a high foaming cleaner. it will leave a large amount of residue. It would need an acid rinse solution with hot water extraction to prevent rapid resoiling !
Dilute the solution in a spray bottle with distilled water to get even dispersement of your stain-lifting detergent. Follow up with hot water extractor to be done in less than a minute and charge your customer $50. Do the entire car for $200, include cloth seats if applicable & charge more.
What works really well is to lightly wet the carpet with a light degreaser and agitate the carpet with a firm bristle brush then extract the carpet with an extraction machine but don't wipe off the light degreaser as that will make life so much easier extracting the carpet
How many times did you actually apply the shampoo and brush before you deemed the section of the car "clean"? I'm really impressed with most of your products, but that looked like a lot of work for just the passenger floorboard.
+Tyler Crane Not going to lie that carpet was really bad. We did have to go over it a few times really good. It was on an older Pontiac Grand am so I'm sure you can imagine how bad it may actually be in person lol. But it still came out pretty good!

Agree with most of the comments here. There are better ways to do that. I normally spray my cleaner to loose the dirt, then brush, then spray shampoo and then vacuum with a dry-wet vacuum machine. think I would have soaped it up first then let it dwell for a few mins the shampoo should stop any dirt from reforming but by leaving it to dwell would bring more grime out
Neither would I but even with another cleaner, no way I would have used that much. For that dirty carpet, I would have applied some cleaner, scrubbed, wiped excess, used the Tornador, used an extractor, then the Tornador again, and then the extractor again. Long process but cleaner carpet. Oh, and tell the owner, "ever heard of floor mats?"
its much easyer to land your car to some profesional at car care centers and he will do this cheaper than to buy all this and much better with extratcors and disassembling seats and everything ,trust me i worked at that places and your car will be like new
I've tried that before. Hang the carpet vertically & hose the crap out of it. Works great. A pound of sand will fall out. Unfortunately, the plastic trim pieces you must remove will never go back like before. You'll have broken clips & they will be loose.
Have to call bs here guys. The yellowing in that carpet was not coming out In the video as he was cleaning and the only place it was out in was a still shot... carpet dye anyone? This method would work fine In a cat with soiled carpet... Not one like this where the carpet fibers are clearly roached...

I don't have an extractor but after scrubbing and wiping with a towel, would it be good to use a heavy duty shop vac to get any extra residue? Also, is it the same process for fabric seats?
Thats crap, you took a before (clean) and you passed that pic up as dirty....then you put crap on it to make it dirty and then passed that off as a "before" you put cleaner in one spot and didnt water it down in the spray bottle, I could go on and on as to the lies you told, people dont clean like this you will have carpet cleaner residue in your carpet making it sticky and will pick up dirt again in no time
To get it like the after you had to use a carpet chemical with peroxide such as Esteam Vanish or Pros Choice Red Relief or Pro s Choice urine stain remover . Use iron on damp terry towel then spray product in area and steam out for instant results or spray brush and and gone by the next day . Damn Im good !
I think the buffer idea is a great idea. Soap looks bit to thick like a dish soap. I personally use commercial carpet cleaning detergent. Use a buffer to agitate and scrub hard to get areas. Then finish off with a acid rinse hot water extraction. Then towl dry if needed.
Man, I don’t know if I would have put this specific video up. Maybe the carpet is too far gone but there’s no substantial difference in look for this to work as a product endorsement.
I have been cleaning carpets, lounge suites etc for 15 years. The recommended method is to use an extraction machine using hot water and low foam carpet and upholstery cleaning chemical

The remaining detergent will pull dirt off of shoes. Detergents must be rinsed.

If you look closely its because the da was only vibrating and not spinning and oscillating. Speed was way too low to agitate the carpet.

Thats crap, you took a before (clean) and you passed that pic up as dirty....then you put crap on it to make it dirty and then passed that off as a "before" you put cleaner in one spot and didnt water it down in the spray bottle, I could go on and on as to the lies you told, people dont clean like this you will have carpet cleaner residue in your carpet making it sticky and will pick up dirt again in no time
degreaser, a brush, and a vacuum would work 10x better. notice he never showed the carpet after he "cleaned" it
Man that orbital attachment with the way we shampoo carpets at work would be amazing
100 passes later it still looks like crap. I commend you on your efforts though.
😂
To get it like the after you had to use a carpet chemical with peroxide such as Esteam Vanish or Pros Choice Red Relief or Pro s Choice urine stain remover . Use iron on damp terry towel then spray product in area and steam out for instant results or spray brush and and gone by the next day . Damn Im good !
the footwell area looks just as dirty if not worse than how it was before the clean?? 🤷🏼♂️🤔
I love how your after picture is in black and gray and your before picture is in color. Fail.
What was the last part you said what ,so don’t use a extractor wile is dirty.
Sorry the language barrier!!!i just want to learn how to do it right
To much work would it be better if u take of the seats and take out the carpet and pressure wash it
Which hand machine n brush pad did you use..
You do know that Porter Cable is a brand. name and not the name of the tool, right?
I need the brushes!
