It's definitely a mental thing, but cars absolutely feel better to drive when they're clean. I feel like getting into a clean car in the morning gives my day such a nice fresh start. It honestly makes me feel more confident and less stressed.
With my 3 busy kids we do a weekend clean out ideally every weekend sometime. Get all the books, shoes, clutter out. I empty trash at each gas fillup and then try to head to the carwash station to use their high powered vacuum every 2-3 weeks. It's easier to manage than a corded one at home.
Great advice and product choice for cleaning the car! Usually I see people using ArmorAll or lysol wipes and it ruins everything. I can tell you've done your research.
I think I just fell in love with you 😄 I instantly like people who keep their cars clean! Dunno what it is about your presentation style - you make me WANT to clean my car! 🚗🚙🤣 I have 14 year old car and am “guilty” of using this for my gardening needs, dog transport, and chicken & rabbit feeds. I maintain the engine, but never worried about having a CLEAN car. 🤷🏻♀ Ok, a once-a-week light cleaning I can handle. Question: Why Invisible Glass for the car? I used this years ago and it’s a great cleaner, I simply abandoned it due to (stinky) petroleum ingredients. I use the Sprayaway for house interior. Thank you for great tips and inspiration!
That P&S Express is my favorite, it gets things really clean and everything stays clean. I usually dilute it by half. Also a rinseless wash like ONR diluted to the right ratio makes the best gentle interior cleaner. After getting into car care products I now use them in the house! Keep a small sprayer of cleaner and a couple microfibers in your glove box and you can just do one or two spots like your steering wheel and cup holders, takes a few seconds now and then to maintain any deep clean you’ve worked hard on.
Can you do a “how to deep clean your car” video please ? I got my first used car recently and I want to clean it really well to give it a fresh start ! ✨
I assumed you'd use the vacuums at the car wash, since I imagine they're stronger (but maybe not!) Is that just because you like doing as much as possible from the comfort of your home?
Exactly! Not only do I enjoy doing it in my garage, but most of the vacuums near me require payment to use. They can be a bit stronger, but I’ve also encountered some that are very neglected and full, so they don’t work very well.
I remember those! My mom got one when she got her first Benz- the dealer insisted she got one. They told her to use the duster and a car cover every night since we didn't have a carport.
It’s like you read my mind. I’ve been waiting for this video. Thank you so much for all the wisdom you share with us! My partner and I love watching your videos and getting recommendations on which products to use
As a detailing enthusiast, I was pleasently surprised to see you using P&S Xpress Interior and Stoner's Invisible Glass lol Those are legit, high-quality and affordable detailing products. And yes, those automated car washes with the brushes will certainly scratch the paint to oblivion. For anyone interested in this channel, I'd recommend getting a pressure washer and learning how to properly wash your car. It's insanely satisfying and not as expensive as you might think. Beware though, it's a one-way trip!
It takes too long for most ordinary people to actually get the willpower to do… Fellow professional detailer here. Better path would be to show them how to waterless wash every 3 days or so. Foaming and all that can take 1-2hrs. for someone to do if they really hit every corner of a vehicle [in&out] and most normies don’t have that in them on a regular basis.
Thoughts on the touchless car wash that this video mentions? I'm thinking about that as an option in between paying $20 for "hand wash" with pressure washer.
@@MambaForever8_24 That “$20 hand car wash” is going to scratch up your paint. [fine swirls] Unless they’re legit detailers doing that hand wash, they’re pretty much guaranteed to do it wrong simply based on them using those same mitts over and over all day long for every car that comes through. That’s the main problem with “hand car wash” places. Their drying towels are far from proper as well.
@@Samuelfish2k, thanks for the response! All fair and valid points. Unfortunately, it appears most brand new cars (even high-end) are delivered with micro swirls in the clear coat because of the new environmentally friendly paint that is not as strong as the past, and most dealerships are not having their cars professionally detailed before delivery. Thus, it seems like options for regular maintenance are: - regular professional detail (expensive) - touchless car wash (harsher chemicals, doesn't get tough dirt or grime off) - regular brush car wash (very risky and likely to scratch or add swirls to clear coat) - $20 "hand wash" w/ power washer (adds swirls {if not already there}) - DIY rinseless wash (only good for light dust/dirt, doesn't get tough dirt or grime off) - DIY two bucket method w/ hose or pressure washer (time consuming, need proper space and equipment to prevent swirls, scratches, water spots)
@@MambaForever8_24 Don’t believe the hype.. Most of the people who say rinseless wash is only for light dust are people who live in fear. The truth is you can safely rinseless wash pretty much anything and still do it safely without scratching your paint. It’s all about technique and tbo you don’t even have to be crazy careful. [most important thing is to use plenty of the liquid] Heck, I waterless wash my own car when it’s full on 2-3 weeks dirty sometimes and I don’t scratch a damn thing.
As a former messy car person that looked like she lived there here are my tips Everytime you get out of the car remove the trash When you get home remove everything that does not belong Weekly vacuum the car and wipe down the seats /console /door panels / dashboard/ steering wheel; floor maps with a damp cloth or baby wipe … while you are gassing the car is best to do this . To top off the dash and interior plastics, use a plastic dressing with anti static properties to reduce the amount of dust and its UV protectant will preserve the color and prevent cracking. Koch-Chemie Top Star is a great product for this. Mercedes approved it for use in their cars.
A small nylon sweeper brush [the kind that usually come paired with a plastic dustpan] can do small wonders in a matter of seconds if done frequently. Ditch the pan and keep the brush in the seat pocket.
I dilute isopropyl alcohol with water in a 1:10 ratio and sometimes add a few sprays of my fav cologne or perfume for an all purpose cleaner. I then completely spray the dash, doors, vents consoles, as well as a good amount in the air (avoiding the delicate headliner) 10-20 sprays, approximately, let it cover the whole car both surface and air. AC on full blast and wipe away with 2 microfibers. As a food delivery driver, this has been a weekly ritual for me 😅.
I was a car detail for a short while, and I will swear by a lily brush for dog hair everytime. I tried regular brushing, lint rollers etc. Nothing compares to those. Wish I kept my lily but I sold it off with all my other supplies
Instead of those little tree air fresheners which are a punch in the face of fragrance everytime you get into the car, try and UNOPENED sachet of fabric softener in a ziplock bag in the pockets of the doors, one sachet in the drivers door for a subtle scent or one each in driver and front passenger door for a stronger smell. Once the fragrance fades you can still use the fabric softener in the washer.

although I hate cleaning the inside of my car and not being able to wash it bc for me it doesnt feel complete. But cleaning the inside every week is a must, just to touch up. Iv noticed if I have to was then clean it takes more time.
Just a quick note that folks here hopefully find helpful. Touchless carwashes use significantly higher acidity soaps to compensate for the lack of agitation from brushed car washes or detailer/home methods. This results in lifespan reduction of things like waxes, ceramic coatings, or even the clear coat. With this info, know it's OK to go touchless, but really only if you have another coating on your clear coat, and you'll need to refresh it more frequently i.e., quarterly/semi-annually rather than annually or less frequently. If you frequently go touchless without another coating on your clear coat, you'll eventually reduce the UV protection on your car, and your paint will fade much sooner.
