Happy Tuesday everyone! We will be posting our review on the Civic Hybrid Sport Touring Hatch in 2 days, stay tuned for all the driving impressions on that model shortly!
The hatch looks so much better! I think that’s partially why the Si is only the sedan and the R is the hatch. The Hybrid looks amazing if I was ready to give up my clutch.
I just bought one also for 9k USD with 186K miles. Much better engine then the 1.5L IMO. Someone lowered mine it so now I have to undo it. Im returning it to normal ride height. Finding these fully stock is hard. Future collector car for sure.
I wish the civic SI could actually get more power or more changes. It seems like it’s had the same horsepower for over a decade and as the standard engines get more powerful, there really isn’t much of a performance gain. If it had closer to Golf GTI power, that’d be nice.
@@williamlevy1981 still the same 200 horsepower and 192 torque. In 2013, an SI had 201 horsepower and in 2007, it had 197 horsepower. So basically it’s hovered around 200 horsepower for the last 20 years. Meanwhile, a GTI has 241 horsepower and an older focus st had 252. So a little more power to get into that range would be nice. It’d be a nice middle ground between a normal civic and the extreme type r.
I got my 2022 Si upgraded with a few mods and a Hondata tune, it’s now making 225 hp and 245 lb-ft to the wheels. Turbo boost goes up to 25 psi. Car feels way more responsive and more powerful at the midrange.

. I just purchased a 2025 si for the manual transmission and sold my 2011 V.W JETTA TDI 6m . Man this is funny as he speaks I'm thinking about fog lights as he mentions them. Great review !
I think the problem is that there aren’t enough people buying MT cars. On the other hand, manufacturers don’t seem to be that interested in making manual cars that people really want to buy. And can afford! Sad, really.
@@housepianist very true. I'm not too informed on the situation so take my words with a grain of salt, but from what I've been told this is mainly a problem in the States, because in Europe and other parts of the world manual transmission cars are still very sought after if not downright the preference for most.
@@RatedGr8manual transmissions are also becoming less and less common in Europe too. In the U.S., it’s a bigger issue because most people aren’t taught stick the way they are elsewhere in the World, and the few people who prefer it aren’t enough for automakers to justify making it. Honda and Mazda are probably the to most popular brands for people who prefer stick, so these two are the ones keeping them alive here.
@@RatedGr8 you are exactly correct. I live in England for some time many years ago and almost every manufacturer offered MT cars. Although there are automatics, hybrids, EV, etc, in Europe today, there are still a large number of cars that use MT for many reasons such as cost (manuals are cheaper), fuel efficiency as related to their high fuel costs, topography, and to some extent euro regulations governing MT and AT cars. But there may be a time where AT cars in Europe may be a thing of the past but manuals are more readily available (comparatively speaking) than in the States.
@@KNRS927 interesting, it's sad really that it's heading that way, because one driving manual is an art, furthermore it's a lot safer for the drivers and everyone on the road because it keeps the driver more engaged. I'm so glad my friends thought me how to drive MT.
I'm a little bit tired of all the "expert" journalists who insist the SI should have more power in 2025. Why? the SI was never about pure speed, it was simply about a more sporty CIVIC, nothing more nothing less and I believe that attribute stills stands today. The SI is about a car that does everything well ... e.g. the Elantra "N" is significantly faster but does that make it a better car??? of course not, it just makes it faster. Folks spend most of their time using their car as a daily driver rather than a dedicated track car (see Elantra 'N') and that's what Honda has delivered. If you want something faster buy an "N" but don't complain to me when it's track-focused nature becomes more of a liability than an asset. Once again "expert" journalists comparing the SI to the Sport Touring Hybrid ... it doesn't matter if the HP (200) is the same, they are two different cars for different purposes. If you think the STHybrid is a performance sedan then please buy one but I simply see it as a non-sporty Civic that has good HP and gets great MPG. Keith Chicago IL aged 68 and have a 25 SI on order ...
You are the only person that makes sense in this entire comment section . Honda Improved this car where it matters the most , that is chassis balance .
I've driven only manual transmission cars since the 1980s. I had one classic olds cutlass with an auto, but every other car I owned was a manual. I just cannot stomach the day when they are no longer available.
I do tend to agree with you. On the hand, the Si could use more power but not in terms of catching up to its competition. It doesn’t need Jetta GLI or Elantra N power. I think the Si needs more power because of what Honda has done with their other Civics. The base Civic still has 150hp but now with the Sport and Hybrid Sport pushing 200hp, with the latter producing much more torque than the Si, it probably COULD have a touch more hp, no more than +15. Or even 5 more hp but maybe +10 ft/lb of torque. Personally, I think having a little extra hp and torque can make the already sporty nature of the Si a bit more “involving” because the way it’s set up now can easily handle a bit more grunt. But adding like 25 to 30 more hp would not benefit the overall set up of the Si unless Honda redesigns the chassis and suspension to take advantage of that kind of power increase. So yeah, I think you make a good point but it just needs to stand out a bit more against its own siblings and not its competition.
If Honda priced the Si at $25K, perhaps the 8.1 sec 0-60 mph time would be excusable. At $32K though, there are way better all around performance offerings on the market. Especially since the 10th gen was quicker still, and also was equipped with adaptive dampers. The Si definitely wouldn't be my choice. The 1.5T over the years has had it's reliability issues also.
@@chaarleess Nah y'all just don't want to admit that Honda has gotten greedy. The Si has no business being in the same price bracket as the GTI, WRX, Mazda 3 Turbo, GRC Core, and Elantra N.

That power level made sense when the Si was 2700lbs but now it’s basically an Accord powertrain in an Accord sized car… as you said Sofyan, missed opportunity.
My 2020 SI sedan is 2906 lbs. I'd still call that relatively light for it's size. I would say it's more mid sized than compact. The average curb weight for mid size sedans is 3300 lbs. I think Honda did an awesome job of keeping weight down without sacrificing any amenities. I could use a spare tire though.

@ oh, I’m sorry for misunderstanding. Well, the interior of my ‘13 hatch is not as nice as an Si’s. The wrx’s interior, and overall driving experience is very analog. I honestly enjoy it that way. Driving in stop-and-go traffic IS terrible, but I’m used to it. The leather seats are fine for me, and my two kiddos have enough space to be in their child seat/booster seat respectively. The seats fold flat down, and I can fit two DJ DJ speakers, a light rig, a foldable table, cable bags, a DJ controller, DJ backpack, and a folding DJ booth. I can also throw in a DJ sub if need be, and I still have a free passenger seat. Overall, I love my wrx. I drive it about 70 miles a day 5x a week for my work commute. My interior has held up quite well. The previous owner had a dog that roughed up the leather a bit, but it’s still fine, IMO. Mine is all stock, and I intend to keep it that way. I highly recommend the wrx hatch. Mine does everything I need it to, it’s fast enough, and I think it looks great.

@CarGeek360 no one thinks they will bang up a car but it will happen. You're a new driver. Stuff happens. Stay with older cars for a bit and save money on taxes, insurance and repairs
I’ve got a ‘24 Si. I like it, I just wish we could have gotten dampening adjustment, the suspension is just way too hard on rough or broken pavement. The door and center armrests are so cheap. If they get rained on they stain so easy. It’s easy enough to clean but it shouldn’t stain with only water. Performance wise, it’s closer to 220hp, Honda downplayed the hp. It’s slow, but there are tunes to really wake it up. 😊 Externally, I wish they would have made it visually different than a Sport. Same wheels too! Oh well, aftermarket it is. I’ll get 35-40 mpg in mixed driving just taking it easy. Overall I like it, if you’re on the fence go drive it. ❤
You can get the black exterior emblems for fir the H Mark and Civic Emblrm and Sport, but all these years they still don't offer a black chrome trimmed Si rmblems, snd I have not seen sny aftermartket ones.
@Interceptorconcepts I KNOW! I am saying they should come standard/included on the Sport trims. The Chrome emblems take away from the overall appearance of the car and ckashvwuthball thr blackout trim.
The si has bigger front rotors, calipers and pads compared to the regular civic, 24 Si owner here and i love it but these Si’s need more power…. After getting mine tuned and a few other things its perfect now but it should have come stock with that same extra power, the clutch is its weakness. And the lack of rear a/c vents annoys the hell out of me. But other than that its a blast to drive
@@CarlosHernandez-ss2yp the car should be around the 220whp mark. Currently on the Phearable stage 1.5r tune with prl interncooler and 27won downpipe, its only on map 2 havent tried map 3 with 25 psi and it feels really quick on map 2 alone
It seems honda may soon drop the Accord. The Civic is coming so close to the Accord and even with the new Hybrid power are so similar. I wish Honda would make a accord like this Civic SI
So now the Civic sport hybrid looks the same, faster, better on gas, and less money. Interesting. The GLI has full leather with heated and cooled seats also with an LSD for the same price. Hell you can get a GTI for the same price.
I had my 2014 Civic EX-L in to Honda for service, yesterday, and rather than sit in the waiting room, I walked the lot and sat in a few different models. Pilot, CRV, and Accord. All the interiors are nearly the same, with just a few differences. When I sat in them, I came to the realization that Honda no longer does it for me. A shame. In fact, when I sat in the Accord EX, the seats were not comfortable at all. If I have to get another car, in the future, unless Honda changes a lot, I'll have to go to another maker.
You nailed it! I tested every new Honda and the only one I loved was the Prologue, which is built by GM. Honda is very outdated and it is not worth the price
@@00_UU Yes, outdated seems to be where they're at. And I agree that the Prologue is the most innovated, though as you said, a GM. Thanks for the reply.
I have an 8th and a 9th gen Si that are "toys" that I took back to factory fresh. Ive driven the 11th and it is a nice vehicle, no denying that. Its just so effing big and heavy. No where near the "spritely" feel the previous generations have. Add another 200lbs and its an accord. If I wanted a larger Civic I would just buy an accord. Honda, like alot of manufacturers, are stuck in the rut of "bigger is better" and thats simply untrue for most of us that are passionate Civic fans. What I would really get excited about would be an EG style throwback hot hatch. 200hp in a 2100lb car is about the perfect formula for a car to still be practical while being fun. And I'm sorry but I have zero interest in a 4 door and prefer coupes. The Si's feel more and more like grocery getters instead of the smile factories the previous gens(besides the 7th. Never the 7th)were.
@@williamlevy1981Hey genius the only Integra that has more power than the civic counterpart is the type S and that's because of the "retuned" exhaust system
are you dumb? the previous civics have a completely different tune and way more conservative allowing the use of regular. The Si is pushing higher boost than the standard civic and more aggresive timing of course its gunna require premium.
Hopefully @Honda makes the next gen (12th gen) Civic Si a 1.8T engine with 230-240hp like the AP1 and AP2 S2000 and 215-225lb-ft of torque. Honda has to stop staying stagnant on the Civic Si and go all in on giving it the performance people are wanting it to be.
Si NEEDS A HATCH IDFC if it impedes on Type R Sales. I just want a Type R Lite (Si Hatch w/ 230HP & 215lb-ft) people do want it just not the Type R Price
8 seconds is just pathetic. Imagine paying all of that + markup, putting premium fuel in and getting passed by base Corollas. Honda has been asleep at the wheel with Si. It's way too close to regular civic. It is begging for another 50 hp and torque.
2024 and no wireless charging, no rear vents, no rear usb ports, and hard touch plastics on the drivers doors. 😅😂 And IMO, its a huge swing and a miss to not offer the Si as a hatchback. And I know Sofyan said its to 'not cannibalize the Type-R', but theyre not competing cars, IMO.
They should have put the 252 horsepower 2 L Turbo from the Accord in this. The Honda Odyssey does 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds. 8 seconds for the SI is embarrassment. Great car under powered! When they removed the 2 L Turbo from the Accord they should have just dropped it in the SI. The day they do this I will run down and pick one up without hesitation.
@@williammaddox3339 it fits in the Type R which is basically the same engine and car. Better yet let's put the 10-speed Auto in the SI for people that don't like to Row for themselves. Imagine that a Civic SI with 252 horsepower with a choice of a 10-speed Auto or 6-speed manual, not sure that the 10-speed would fit. If you went with the 10 speed it would be as quick if not quicker than the Type R so we just give the type R owners a choice also.
I was thinking the same thing!!!!…I previously owned a 2018 accord sport 2.0 manual. A fun quick car. Plenty of hp and torque. Def a missed opportunity on Hondas part. I did not test drive an Si. But I test drove a integra aspec manual. The car was a dud IMO….i ended the test drive early. Def needs more power and torque.
This is nice but I like my 2024 Kia Fort GT with a manual transmission. You get more standards options for the money and better warranty. Mine has heated and cooled seats as well and cost 26K . 31K for a Civic is rediculous.
I’m in the market for ‘25 si and searched 6 dealers in SoCal with a total of 9 cars available. Sadly none of them are willing to take off dealer add ons making them 35k-36k civics before taxes & fees. 5 local acura dealers only have the integra 6mt only in the a-spec + technology trim, making them 39.1k Any tips?
If those are your two options, go with Acura. You get a hatch, a nice interior and a better looking car overall. I think it's a no brainer for $3k more.
Update: 9/17/24 I gave in and found a ‘25 civic si for 37,500 OTD. Black color 31,345 (summer tires) + 2,565 dealer add ons + taxes & fees. Interest rates 7.39% for 60 months. Making this a 45k civic if you finance.
@@sayurasem I never ever agree to pay for any dealer add-ons. Those add-ons are worth zero on resale market. Why not get search out of state and have the car shipped?
I've never read an SI road test in which 0 to 60 was 8.1 seconds. 11th generation is slower than 10th generation by a half a second, but still does 6.8 seconds.

how i wish compact cars are still in the low $20k ish range
They do offer black emblems. You just have to order it from dealer.

The si has bigger front rotors, calipers and pads compared to the regular civic, 24 Si owner here and i love it but these Si’s need more power…. After getting mine tuned and a few other things its perfect now but it should have come stock with that same extra power, the clutch is its weakness. I have a 2010 Honda Civic Lx coupe. purchased a few years ago with 52k miles. I'm currently about to hit 275k Miles.... Mostly highway.
Nice vehicle. I have this engine in my Acura Integra, and it has plenty of power and its very fuel efficient.
