  • "We all know the great reputation the BMW 3 Series has made for itself over the years. But we also know that these days, that’s just not enough. There are far too many impressive rivals around to rely solely on your past performance as a marketing strategy. So, BMW keeps pushing the limits of both performance and technology. And, the 330e is the result..."

    I travel 12miles to work and leased the 330e for the same price as a 320i. In eco-pro mode, I dont turn on my engine for about 9 miles. My gas bill is about $65 less a month, not taking into account the environmental benefits.
    Why shouldn't I lease the 330e instead of the 320i? It's just common sense.

    I own the latest 330e. This is a car for someone who really wants 2 cars but only has the budget or space for 1. When driving it in hybrid mode, it’s hard to get less than 35 MPG. When driving it in Sport Extraboost mode, it uses both the electric and combustion engines simultaneously which will put a smile on your face.

    I’m a hard core conservative with the mindset of drill baby drill! However, I think the hybrid plug-in is just smart to conserve our resources and keep money in the consumer’s pocket 🎉

    I can see the future heading towards Hybrid, whether you like it or not. I believe in BMW that they will make Hybrid become fun to drive and will lead the charge to make people accept hybrid!

      It is performance vehicle. If you drive it like Prius owner drives you get much better economy than Prius.
      It is hard to drive this beast like granny. It is just so awesome.

      I’ve had this car for a little over a year here in Orlando, FL. I was really hesitant to embrace hybrid tech, but have become a believer once I spent time behind the wheel. I equipped mine with the M Sport package, which I fully suggest optioning. The car simply makes for an awesome daily driver. The hybrid system DOES add weight and infringe on trunk space a bit. Rest assured, I can still carry my stuff and straight up mug other cars at stoplights. In fact this car settled quite a few negative opinions about electrification of cars with my friends who were convinced hybrids had no soul.
      The mpg is good, even when driven hard. You never really need to plug it in, as it charges well on its own. You honestly get about 15 miles on pure electric, which actually makes my commute almost gas free. All this efficient performance doesn’t come cheap at almost $60k, but I can attest I’ve never felt it is anything but a brilliant car.

      I rented one overseas for a few days. They gave it to me with a completely discharged battery and I returned it with a full battery (never having plugged it in - the rental place didn’t even give me the plug) I left it in sport mode which (I later learned) keeps the engine on at all times and drove it as I would a normal car and I got at least 33 mpg. I had no idea how to use this car in electric mode until the last hour of the rental. I drove it the 2 miles from the gas station to the rental return on electric only so I could truly say I returned it with a full tank of gas (the battery indicator still showed full charge as well).

      You get other advantages normal vehicles do not offer - complete preconditioning before driving. Marvelous performance at cold start, instant heat, instantly a lot of power (better acceleration if engine cold). You could push normal gasoline vehicles when it is freezing but that is no good for engine.
      Very efficient in traffic jams. Whenever you enter heavily congested urban traffic all other vehicles fall to ridiculous mpg. Not plugin hybrids.
      There are multiple other awesome luxurious features you only get with electrified vehicle, not just fuel consumption drop.

    I just got a loaner of this ...29mpg vs my F10 535 24+ mpg... This car just makes no sense at all... You can get a 330 and avg about the same mpg and have a bigger gas tank.

    • @beb1527
      @beb1527 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What you say is true for most people. For me this car is perfect. I drive less than 10 miles a day on weekdays with mostly short trips. The trips are so short that my old car, which could get 35 mpg easily on the highway, would get 15 mpg or less on my typical short trips. This car is no less efficient on short trips when on electric than it is for long trips on gas. On weekends, I can still enjoy the performance of a 330i with the minor inconvenience of having a shorter range. I don’t think I can drive more than 300 miles at a time without stopping anyway.

    • @FrankW1029
      @FrankW1029 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beb1527 oh wow, this comment was 4 years ago. you are correct tho, for short trips and if you plug it in everyday. you can actually get some useful trips out of the short battery range. my sister actually picked up a 21' X3 30e and by plugging it in everyday the car gets around 35-39mpg depends on who drive it. She picked up the 30e for the carpool sticker however. i picked up a 21' 540 and is now avg 27mpg and 31-32 mpg on the hwy.
