  • Well you got to give it to BMW engineers, staying on top with the 3-series has not been easy. On one hand, luxury minded buyers demand a softer, more hi-tech car. While on the other hand, rivals continue to challenge its legendary sport sedan credentials. So could the new gen “3” be the one that sorts it all out? Let’s find out.

    Base model 3 Series without X Drive for $60K. Waaayyyy too much tech, fake gauges, sounds, and feelings, and the size of a 5 Series. You need to look back to the year 2011 and previous to the E90, E46, E36, E30 to a more compact, nimble, rewarding, analog, tactile, thrilling experience

      @Donald Trump is Ghetto Trash That is the unique position BMW has found itself in for the past decade or so, they made a reputation off of vehicles with a particular character that does not really have as much widespread appeal as one would think. So they have moved away from those very same traits due to customer preference for them to do so, but the brand was built on the traits they have moved away from.

    The 3 series for me has really lost its appeal. It’s entered a boring phase that it hasn’t been able to escape. Making it bigger sure hasn’t helped, and packing it full of technology is even worse. Adding to that list is subpar reliability and it just doesn’t seem like a worthy opponent to Lexus or Audi anymore.

    • @tomtom255
      @tomtom255 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're better off going backwards to an E90/92 M3 or older, the current generation of M3/M4 might be faster and more capable but they've become less fun to drive, less of a driving machine and more of a hammer you destroy the pavement with. People have become so obsessed with numbers and lap times that are totally meaningless that they forgot what makes a car fun.

      Luxury? The exterior is bland and the interior looks like an econobox. I don’t want a giant iPad in the middle of the dash and cheap looking dashboard and controls. If you are a techie, get a Tesla, if you are a car person get a real luxury car, there are many to choose from without shoddy build quality.

    Sorry, but Genesis G70 = BMW 3 series these days. And the dealers actually care, too.

      I recently purchased 2019 Genesis G70. When comparing the two cars, BMW lovers are going to hate on the Genesis G70. Genesis G70 owner's have an extra ten thousand dollars in their pockets and peace of mind regarding the G70's reliability.

      @Donald Trump is Ghetto Trash Indeed it is. However all BMW's are so soft and boring now. I have had them for 20 years and the build quality and driving dynamics have gotten worse with each gen. As all cars have, it's the world we are in. But BMW has lost its way in many ways.

      @japanwatchconnection yeah even Mercs have better steering feel at this point. I agree the E-series were not all that reliable (for the F look at the huge problems with the N20 timing stuff), but driving dynamics were always well above the rest of the class

    Yeah I'll take a better driver's car in the Genesis g70 over this overpriced 3 series. All BMW does nowadays is offer useless tech gimmicks that will malfunction all the time.
