    Edinburgh Waverley Station on 19th January 1990
    Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of the much awaited for clip (First of several to come) of Edinburgh Waverley Station. Perhaps one of the most iconic stations I have visited, certainly in Scotland during this decade. Sadly missing is the distinctive drone of the "Deltic" but at least we hear the un automated announcements and scream of the HSTs on their many duties out of the Scottish Capital. I hope this video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated,but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

    I worked in Edinburgh in the 90s. Haymarket was my stop for the trains to Falkirk. These trains had real character. Memories and the sounds too. Wonderful .Thank you. ❤

    Thanksfor this, such a great location, I used to love Waverly West, before the wires went it, and even now it's a great place just to watch the trains.

    great video, really interesting selection of trains there. lots of back & forth shunting of coaches, Motorail GUVs, a WCML-bound Mk2 a/c set with Mk3 RFB, Aberdeen p/p arrival with Sleeper (probably from previous night's Glasgow-Aberdeen service) and an original p/p Mk2 coach (ScotRail livery), Glasgow p/p set with Mk2d TSO and two Mk3 in InterCity (red stripe). A time of transitions.

      @spompey  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes a lot of transitioning to come which is why the decade was interesting yet sad in other respects.....many thanks.....you are most welcome.....Mark

    Good footage here.
    For anyone wondering why push-pull 47 sets had InterCity liveried coached mixed in with ScotRail rakes... the ScotRail Mk3's were going through works as a part of their transfer to InterCity.
    However, because the Class 158's were delayed, InterCity had to loan their Mk3's to ScotRail to bridge the gap.
    By this time, a couple of DBSO's had already gone through Derby Works and TDM conversion at Devonport Dockyard, and had been delivered to InterCity Anglia for driver training for push-pull services on the Great Eastern route out of London Liverpool St.

      Many thanks for the great info you have provided, it is all very much appreciated and answers a lot of questions about the mixed stock...again many thanks and best wishes....Mark

    Once again, another video for me to look for 47s that I have, and it's 47708 and 47715, the latter carrying NSE livery on my layout. The curious thing about 47715 pushing its train back out was, although the video doesn't show it, I think it was just a shunt move, to allow the Mk3 sleeper to be released from the push pull set, because the driver is in 47715, not the DBSO. Great video once again!

    • @spompey
      @spompey  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe it was just a shunt release as you say....many thanks.....you are most welcome.....Mark

    By 1990, the first 158(701) was on test, and the 47/7's were being prepped for sending down south. There was several running around in NSE colours for a while. The video also highlites towards the end of the pushers, any coaching stock going spare was thrown onto them as the mk3's were shiped out. Great video for highliting this.

    Great action
    Thanks for posting.
    My favourite years of the railways with so much variation in livery's and stock.
    The very noticeable thing from videos of the era was the terrible state and appearance of the locos and rolling stock. Filthy,paint peeling off as well as the numbers! 🙂

    I said I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 37 Octagon and Every 17 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 142MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 142MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Pretty Please!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 17 Tonnes for all of those 142MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!!!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!! And please do something about these Very Very Very Very Very Very Very important Professional ideas Pretty Please? Prime Minister of England, Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister of Germany, Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London?

    If I recall some of the Scottish 47 7s went south to fill in for flaky 50s, 156s taking over the Lothian turns via Falkirk as loco hauled services were phased out in the year.

    The 47s were clapped out by then and so were the older mk2s in the rakes. Using what they had available back then. Those 1st gen DMU's as well, imagine the just stop oil lot if we still had those things spewing out fumes like that nowadays.
