    Eastleigh Station, Yard and Works on 1st June 1990
    Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of eastleigh Station and Yard taken on 01/06/1990. Filmed from the multi storey car park opposite the station the expanse of the yard and works can be appreciated in this view. An early morning captured many ECS movements and LE movements to begin the days busy activities. A diversity of traction was seen so I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated,but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

    What joy to watch this timepiece , so many fantastic memories. Was a secondman at Eastleigh ,moved for my drivers job to Wimbledon Park just a few years prior to the date of this footage. I even recognised a few guys during the change end and crew changes . Thankyou for posting .

    awww another lovely video, and what so sad is seeing the TC units all berthed there in the depot, looking so mucky, old, and they actually look like they really sad..just left alone there. the VEPs and CIGS all look so much youthful, clean, with many years still ahead, and still going about their diagrammed work, and then the gorgeous 442..the new kid on the block. you know what, i remember on one of my many travels on the southern with my grandpa, we travelled to weymouth one day and i was in the brake van on boards a 442 in springs 1989/90 and looked out of the window and saw some of those poor old TC units, these ones i took pics of, and still have them now and they were still dressed in their late 60s early 70s blue/grey, but just left there!! good to see all the other traction around such a busy location. fantastic!!! 🫶🫶🫶🫶

    Wow, what a video. Seeing 47123 my last 47 I needed for sight. I was actually on a coach trip from.the North East going round various depots in the South and Eastliegh was on the trip. I missed 47123 by 5mins. I eventually caught up with it 3months or so later but as soon as I saw it on here, It pinged in my memory. Not the same year. I'd seen all 4 of those new fangled 59s at Merehead, earlier that day. Even though I'd clicked loads of stuff including those southern based 08s, 09s, 33s, 50s and 73s, my pet lip still stuck out a mile cos I missed 47123😂 thank you for sharing this excellent video.

    Great video. Always something to see at Eastleigh. Unusual 6 coach formation at 1.05 heading down the Fareham line. Is that a 4 Cig + TC trailer + Rep driving coach?
    Most unusual.

      It's a 6-REP formation. Six of them were formed to provide some form of "fast" service from Portsmouth & Poole (joining at Eastleigh) at peaks while the rest of the REP motor cars were being stripped for the 442s. Formation was (REP)DMS-TBS-TF-TCK-(REP)TBS-DTS, so they had to run at reduced power if two were joined. (The trailers were all ex-TC units). I've got all the formations if you want them.
      :)

      @Thunderer0872 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Hoovers came over from Salisbury at night off the 2 Yeovil trains & the last 2 from London to Salisbury as there were no berthing space at Salisbury they would go over to be washed and berthed near the airport sidings for a few hours, the locos were taken off for fuel and returned in the morning so this must be filmed very early.

      Great video. 33117 at the end didn’t sound to healthy. Solent Blueline Leyland Nationals, EDs & TCs, 2HAP sandwiched between 2VEPs, 6REP. Brilliant 90s transport nostalgia.

    Still a great place to go. All the times I've been there, I never thought about filming and photographing from the Swan Centre car park. I'll have to try that now. I can't figure if this was just before, or jast after the line to Fareham and Portscreek junction went electric.

      About 1 min into this, there's a 12-car (CIG-BEP-CIG) formation heading off on the down Portsmouth. The "Solent Link" electrification (Portscreek/Farlington Jns - Eastleigh Sth/St Denys Jns was opened May 9th 1990.

      @ @ispvideos - Be careful if you try to use the Swan these days. My relatives were flying in to SOU(thampton) from France in July, so I parked up on the top level to film their arrival. As I was panning round to their touchdown, a "security guard" approached me from behind, smacking my camera to the ground. A pretty nasty conversation ensued, but I calmed this "guard" down, and insisted he accompanied ME to his manager's office.
      Complaint was made - CCTV was checked, he was fired (and subsequently deported). Still waiting for compensation.
