Love the smell of that cat steam at 6:57. It's been a long time since I've been on a flight deck but the smell of that steam is something I can still smell. Nice oily steam smell - uck!
I really enjoy to fly the super hornet in Microsoft Flight Simulator and it’s just a game. I can’t imagine how great and amazing it is to fly an F18 in real life. Love your videos 👍🏻
Few quick questions ;-) 1. The pilot maneuvers to the cat by his own or there's a vehicle on deck that position the aircraft in place ? 2. Does the pilot gets the signal to go full throttle just before taking off ? 3. What kind of mission is that ?
Actually the overhead marshal is watching the deck from above. They are taking the feed to waist cats as their signal to initiate the break. It's known as, "hawking the deck." If they do it right the first aircraft waves off and the second one traps.

The HUD is the primary flight instrument. We won’t takeoff without it.
Write the best sequel ever: FLIGHT OF THE GROWLER.
Great launch ! Audio would add a lot to understand what comms occur to maneuver, launch and recover
There are absolutely no comms during catapult launches. Seriously. None at all.

@Growler jams I'm wondering why pilots have their FCS page during the launch? Why do you need that for on T\O instead ok something else? Amazing videos, keep posting! ❤🔥
We want to suspend our launch if any error pops up. That’s why the page is up for the wipeout.
Back in my day we had this little thing called OP SEC. I guess that's all out the window now.
What capability did we just expose to the enemy? We have been doing this for a long time. Threat countries are constantly collecting on us. Nothing special here…until the camera goes off.
just needs to top gun sound track and it'd be perfect. hell this is probably better than the actual opening of the movie.
I thought they (pilot) used to have both hands up?
lovely views. Question around 8:47 is that another flight kissing off his wingman for a recovery?
No. That’s a section breaking the deck to land. -2 will break to follow his lead.
How's the F-18 maneuvered to the take off position? Is it done by a special vehicle on the deck?
No. Rudder pedals move the nose wheel.
Pail, at what point in your sortie do you do a G-warmup?
After takeoff. Before the tactical portion.
Is the signature move common to every pilot, just yours or does every piolot have their own variations
You asking about it in the comments?
Do all Navy fighter pilots go through Top Gun, or are they ‘picked’?
Last question, are your videos reviewed by the Navy before being posted? I haven’t seen anything blurred’ out on the control panels.
