Great video! I got this same snowblower cheap off a co-worker a couple years ago and am trying to replace that drive gear shaft that you welded the clamp onto. I was having the same issue with the right side not propelling and it was due to a cracked cog on that shaft. So far I've got the old shaft out but can't get the new one in. I need to take the track off like you did so this video was perfect for my situation! Thanks again!

I just watched your live broadcast. I wished I had known it was on I would have sent a comment. I don't know how your fixing the John Deere hood. I fixed one this summer it had 5 fairly large cracks. I bought a fiber glass kit and used a drywall tape actually a plastic mesh. I used the mesh on the inside only cut some fine grooves in the top side and filled with fiber glass. I bought some john Deere green at home depot matched perfectly. I cost $3.00 per can John Deere wanted $9.00 per can.
I also wanted to mention that I watched your video on home remedies. Your wife segment on the floor Steam cleaner was great . I ordered one right after your video. Thanks again Ron B Ron's small engine repair. Marcellus Michigan

I'm and industrial maintenance mechanic by trade(licensed since 1991 and still going) . Your videos helped me lots on Saturday. Great video my friend. I am in Pennsylvania too. I was born in Johnstown and from your accent I figured you were out in Pittsburgh. Great area. I am out in Bangor PA now working at a pharmaceutical company dreaming about starting a mobile small engine and welding repair company with a truck with a crane like the guy from classic work or IC weld. I ope to hear from you. I shouldn't really say dreaming because I just bought two welders, a truck mounted and a trailer mounted. I also found a 1999 Ford Ranger that needs the frame welded but that will be no problem. I am slowly getting my tools together. I am also recovering from a horrible accident where I was hit on my Harley and had extensive blood clots where I was not allowed to walk for seven months. I survived at least.

I have a Craftsman track drive 8.5 hp 26" snowthrower I bought in '97, and it has this exact problem. I don't see a loose chain, so I'll just take it down to the mechanic. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix. Getting it on the truck should be fun. Not. Since it only wants to go right, not straight ahead. I bought the track drive because that was what we needed. Somewhat steep terrain, plus doing paths off of the driveway. Need that traction.

Thanks for the video! I have the same snowblower, left track won't drive. Spins free with or without the steering assist trigger applied, while the right side engages with the friction wheel and steering assist. Is there a keyway or shear pin for the track wheel? I have it apart in the garage, cannot find any reason why it would not be working. Chains on sprockets, everything seems to be within spec.

Look up Fast Trax Snowmobile I helped in the development of it. can be seen on U-Tube. 1911 Harley uses a 1-1/4" x 101-3/4" long flat belt if it is the correct material it will go 1000 miles or better factory belt 60miles.

    Hello,
I have an MTD 8/26 Track Snow blower MTD E740F000 that doesn't drive I've replaced the drive belts, friction disc and wheel. everything is free turning and spinning like it should with no weight on the tracks. When I tip the machine back over on it's tracks start the motor put in forward or reverse you can see it wants to move but something is binding and holding it. The only thing I didn't replace was the outer Flange Bushings part # 941 0339 or 741 0339 #59 on Jacks Small Engine parts diagram. I noticed when I had everything apart that those outer bushings were worn egg shaped both left and right side, Would that cause everything to bind up and not move, if so should I replace all 4 or can I get away with just the two outer ones. It's an old machine.
Thank you in advance for you help.
