    Hi, good informations. An another thing that I found on my MTD, is the space between the second stage propelers and the drum. I had a distance of approximatly 0.5 in. Snow was trown only at 15 to 20 feet. I have added peace of rubber, on propelers, to close the gap to 1/8 of an inch. Now, snow is trown between 30 to 40 feet.

    Darn. Snowblower season. In order to preserve the auger gear case i usually take my Dremel with a cut off disc and cut 2/3 of the way through all the sheer pins. That way they break under much less stress.
    Of course sometimes I need to change 4 or 5 sheer bolts with each snowfall, but thats a small price to pay to keep the blower going.
    Okay. So I dont do anything so stupid but your video did make me think about my blower - gotta make sure its good to go. so thanks.

      If your using the proper shear pins i do not think that is necessary. Some of our customers have been buying their shear pins at the big box stores and they are made in China and breaking way too easily and i have never seen a gear box go when using proper shear pins. But you have to be able to add 00 grease every now and then because the original lithium will be separated off to the sides and away from the brass or bronze gear in the middle.

      I personally like the older models since i can access the carb and have it in the ultrasonic cleaner in 10 minutes max, with these it takes so much more time and we actually had one come in that required 24 bolts to be removed to get at the carb. Additionally the metal was so thin that reassembly of those bolts took forever just getting the holes to align.

    • @EliminatorPerformance

    I hit a big stick a couple years ago and instead of sheering, the pins were half sheered but still in place. Instead the belt squealed and smoked for a few seconds before stalling the engine. Ever since I've had a vibration in the auger drive. I can't visually see any issue. Nothing looks bent or out of place. Very hard to diagnose without tearing the whole thing apart.

    • @EliminatorPerformance
      @EliminatorPerformance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Start the engine, and put a small clamp on the auger lever like I did in the video. Then you can walk around to the front to have a look at the rotating assembly. I had a 3 stage come in and the front accelerator shaft had a slight bend to it causing a bit of vibration.

I would describe it as if the snow is too heavy for my snowblower - but I can confirm the snow is light, not wet, and my snowblower is a big one with auger blades (not rubber) and has worked with this same snow in the past.
