I have been a writer’s demo singer since I was 14, which is over 40 yearsm😱. I am not a country singer and never even listened to it growing up, but many of the calls I got, especially in the 90s, were country songs. The (no) range factor you mentioned is real. No range required. And I find I stay tightly wound for those sessions because you can’t do anything vocally that a country singer can’t do, so you’re extremely limited 😂. I learned very early on to tuck any creativity away and swallow my pride when doing country sessions. As a singer, I don’t want anyone to hear them, but I do want the writer to get their song picked up. You nailed every single country-ism! It is a boring, musically brain dead genre. Great job.
Somehow i missed this video. Every time you do something like this, im absolutely blown away. You're such a talented artist, it's mind boggling. I wish you could do lessons of some sort, because that's just some top tier stuff, many other musicians could learn a lot from you. Great work
As an avid country music listener and someone who was raised in the South, this was pretty spot on. My only critique would be that the southern drawl does not necessarily come from the word "rain", but more so the understanding that words like "still" and "steel" are in fact the same words, words like "theater" have three syllables instead of two, and the emphasis of words like "guitar" are more so on the "gui" than the "tar". Otherwise, phenomenal work!
Damn, he broke every "rule" he made up and it's still a good pop-country song. He should record an album, it will break all charts 😂 P.S.: His sister is still hot 🔥🔥🔥
The fact that Steve Ts vocals have dramatically improved and he’s capable of producing full length songs with his voice tells me that if he took it seriously…. He’d be well on his way to writing full length albums of his own…. Good job Steve… your original content is awesome…
I know this is supposed to be humorous. But not gonna lie, you sound like you could easily crank out #1 hit country songs. Even the voice was spot on. 🤣
I was legit getting into this song, then Stevie Travis hit me with a vibe check and started singing "rain rain rainy rain." I nearly choke on my soda, that is my type of humor, random and out of nowhere, also I like how he says no shredding and ends with a wicked lead guitar shed. I'd say someone is compensating for a small hog. 🤣🤣🤣
Steve, once again, you have made me thoroughly enjoy a song that I would NEVER normally listen to!! You are a talent and a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale and lifeless TH-cam cornfield!!! Keep doing what you're doing!!!
I’m a southern metal head that happens to love country music as well. I love everything from BTBAM-Suffocation all the way to Earnest Tubb-Alan Jackson. This video is WIDLY accurate and absolutely hilarious. Stevie Travis for CMA nominee for best song writer 2023!
i am the exact same way. country has some very good music that speaks to your soul in a lot of ways that metal can't.. i love to exchange between the genres all after what mood i'm in. cheers
Technically this isn't country-core. It's just country. So I guess I'm not off the hook for that! Haha! Hot Sis' old glasses broke. So these are the fill-ins! 🤣
Honestly Stevie, this is the most PERFECT timing! My job is literally playing a country playlist as I type this, so thanks for the perfectly timed humor! 👍
I really like the "How to be..." videos series. However this one has me conflicted. I despise country music, but I think since your song is done satirically I can tolerate it 🤣. You hit the nail on the head with how to be county, spot on! I really enjoy seeing your creativity and versatility. How did you come up with that title? It's hilarious. Awesome video as always. Love you so much. 😍
Thanks Erica!! Well, I like to think of my song as a Tom Petty song with twangy vocals rather than a 'country' song. Honestly, I was like "What are the biggest country clichés". Cowboy boots and beers!!! And trucks.... and divorces and horses... Also rain...
As someone who's lived in Mississippi all their life, I gotta say this sounds pretty accurate. Good job Stevie. Oh and congrats, you got me to listen to an entire country song.
Stevie, I'm a country girl from Arkansas. I'm literally as country as country gets - a metalhead and a country music lover all at once. And yet, somehow, I find this video absolutely hilarious because country musicians all are kinda the same. And while there is a whole lot of amazing country music, you kinda hit some of the country downfalls in this video. But country really is just about working and living the blue collar life. It's about work and losing sometimes in life, finding love, maybe breaking up and getting over it, or just living the good life and appreciating every moment. If yall want good country music, listen to George Strait, Brantley Gilbert, or Tracy Lawrence. Country music does all revolve around the same themes and stuff like that - no blast beats or sic drumming which I kinda hate - so yeah lol you hit the nail on the head. And, yes, I am very offended by your clothing. We usually just wear tee shirts, boot cut jeans, and boots. Nothing flashy or something from a Western. We're not all from Texas, after all. 🤪 Jk love you and your hilarious personality! Keep the awesome work up! 😂
@@Histgyph I know, right? It's something that I absolutely love in metal because I grew up on country music, which never had killer drum solos like Slipknot or Mudvayne. The blast beats and double kicks get me in every song. It makes me appreciate drums in any song I hear now. Heck, I can pick out the individual pieces of the drum - cymbals, hats snare, and bass - for the most part. I just really love drumming. It looks so exhilarating and enjoyable.
@@CountDain7 if you actually mean that, thank you so much. I just love how Stevie makes such a funny video while basically pointing out everything that is wrong about country music. Anyways, have a great day! 😁
The thing about Stevie T, he knows how to mix and produce music in a way that most people are trained to expect and associate with "quality music." That's why even when he's taking the piss, it still comes through sounding like "top 10 quality..." Cause it is. Top 10 radio uses the same tricks and shortcuts to appeal no matter the genre. And like any songwriter worth his salt, Stevie T knows how to use the tools to make things listenable. It really says more about what music listeners are trained to expect, than how good or original his songs are. I mean, they're well built and flawlessly executed, but they're designed specifically to appeal to popular music expectations, so of course they feel genuine.
Don't ever write comments but been watching your stuff for couple years now and you make me and my gf laugh and cheer us up when times get tough. Somehow i missed this video. Every time you do something like this, im absolutely blown away. You're such a talented artist, it's mind boggling. I wish you could do lessons of some sort, because that's just some top tier stuff, many other musicians could learn a lot from you. Great work
9:48 "I been through one or two duhvorrrrrsss-us" 🤣 Greetings from Houston, TX Steve, you nailed this. 🤠
As an actual southerner knowing the fact that a Canadian just nailed a song perfectly as a “country” song is telling me how basic our music genre is 😭
don't worry, Steve T is very talented so every 'parody' song he makes ends up being a banger lol
A lot of country stars are Canadian
COWBOY BOOTS N BEERS! 🍁🎸🤘🤷 HE NAILED IT
As an avid country music listener and someone who was raised in the South, this was pretty spot on.
I am curious how theatre sounds with only 2 syllables?
You’ve probably guessed already I’m from the South lol.
@@stormrunnercore [THEA-tur] is the most common way I've heard it said in my neck of the woods (West Coast)
West Atl Ga. here and I can attest to that😃👍
As a northerner, I've never heard someone say Thee uh ter with 2 syllables. Though I do associate Thee AY ter with southern pronunciation.
Congratulations to your immense talent and amazing sense of humor. Regards from Paranaguá-Brazil. Success in your career! 🤘😊👍
ordem e progresso
These are always so hilariously exaggerated and yet so incredibly accurate. So good
Damn, he broke every "rule" he made up and it's still a good pop-country song. He should record an album, it will break all charts 😂
P.S.: His sister is still hot 🔥🔥🔥
its her gf not sister 🤣
@@raizen4271 who cares, I think she's both his sister and girlfriend. It's not like they'll have kids anyway😂
@@raizen4271 same thing if it's a country music video.
@@raizen4271 How you know that?

The fact that Steve Ts vocals have dramatically improved and he’s capable of producing full length songs with his voice tells me that if he took it seriously…. He’d be well on his way to writing full length albums of his own…. Good job Steve… your original content is awesome…
Stevie is a musical genius, plain and simple!
Idk.. UNDER A MILLION SHOOTING STARS reeled me back in 😂
And that’s why Stevie is depressed
@@Hopeless_Husker Easy there sport, I'm just messin' around.
That wasn't exactly country music without those banjo rolls n chicken picking but that sounded so good and probably the best personality of Stevie T ❤
Everyone should share this and get it to the top of the country music charts lol that would be epic
Steve, once again, you have made me thoroughly enjoy a song that I would NEVER normally listen to!!
You are a talent and a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale and lifeless TH-cam cornfield!!!
Keep doing what you're doing!!!
Only Stevie can appropriate every genre of music flawlessly. Next genre: classical music!
Yeah, let see him trying that, or jazz.
I haven't seen industrial yet, that might be something ....
Even better Math Rock
For sure
How to be Baroque
jajajajaj man the country music its for you , that sounds so natural , congrats , I love all the songs you do
Cowboy boots & Beers legit is a banger! It needs to be on Spotify
It is!
I’m a southern metal head that happens to love country music as well. I love everything from BTBAM-Suffocation all the way to Earnest Tubb-Alan Jackson. This video is WIDLY accurate and absolutely hilarious. Stevie Travis for CMA nominee for best song writer 2023!
i am the exact same way. country has some very good music that speaks to your soul in a lot of ways that metal can't.. i love to exchange between the genres all after what mood i'm in. cheers
Put it on spotify and surely we can get it into the Country charts 😂
THATS THE BEST COUNTRY SONG IVE EVER HEARD
1, 2, 3, 4, now we got our country-core! 🤣
Gotta enter the charts with this one! 😉
Did Hot Sister get new glasses?? 😆
Super cool vid!!! 🤩
Technically this isn't country-core. It's just country. So I guess I'm not off the hook for that! Haha! Hot Sis' old glasses broke. So these are the fill-ins! 🤣
@@SteveTerreberry was u tryna record a skit with her and fell over and they broke??? by any chance
Whenever Steve posts, you know it's going to be a good day.
Mhm you got that right! 😁🤩
Looks like you love saturdays then
Honestly Stevie, this is the most PERFECT timing! My job is literally playing a country playlist as I type this, so thanks for the perfectly timed humor! 👍
Thats honestly one of the best country songs ive heard
I also hate country music it makes me want to barf-
You'd like the super suckers.
Me and a friend wrote one called "The Price of Corn" and it was absolute trash, but still better that anything non-satirical country.
@@lucithebean4422 Try steampunk/dark cabaret. It's like country, but with edgier aspects of death, cannibalism, and murder.
As someone who's lived in Mississippi all their life, I gotta say this sounds pretty accurate. Good job Stevie. Oh and congrats, you got me to listen to an entire country song.
me too lol! wonder what he could do with rap or grunge.....
@@wrenmichael8471 he’s done Drake before
Steve Travis is the only country music I’ll listen to
@@champagne_papiiii no like real rap, NWA Ice T, or Public Enemy. Not that pop stuff.
Hey I heard that high note at 9:27. Rascally lawbreaker!
"under a million shooting stars (in the night sky)"
genius lyric right there (tell you what)
and that guitar solo was epic
What's great is how accurate and good the song actually is.
As someone from Tennessee, I can confirm that this is 100% accurate!
Texas also concurs.
West Virginia confirms too minus the boots no one here wears they’re boots with the jeans tucked in most of us make fun of that lol
Steve that solo freaking slaps. You just have insane skills overall, I wish you would publish ur own songs soon :D
@Atlantean's Blood lmao who says weebs can't have good taste in music, if not so why would I watch steve
@Atlantean's Blood nobody cares about your opinion
He has a few old tunes on spotify
Here we have a country big hit from Steve T - Cowboy, boots & beer. 👏👏👏
If a big country “artist” released that song as is, it would be a summer time hit lol
Jk love you and your hilarious personality! Keep the awesome work up! 😂
Some people would argue that real country doesn’t have drums
@@Histgyph I know, right? It's something that I absolutely love in metal because I grew up on country music, which never had killer drum solos like Slipknot or Mudvayne. The blast beats and double kicks get me in every song. It makes me appreciate drums in any song I hear now. Heck, I can pick out the individual pieces of the drum - cymbals, hats snare, and bass - for the most part. I just really love drumming. It looks so exhilarating and enjoyable.
Nice. very constructive response
Exactly
@@CountDain7 if you actually mean that, thank you so much. I just love how Stevie makes such a funny video while basically pointing out everything that is wrong about country music. Anyways, have a great day! 😁
The greatest country and western song of all time...."COWBOY BOOTS AND BEER." I love it.
This sounds like something that would actually be on Country radio 😂
It basically already was in 2013. This is Runnin Outta Moonlight with a slower tempo 😂
Steve Travis: "Shredding is overcompensating for a small hog"
Also Steve Travis: *Proceeds to shred like a God on the solo*
And also ... some tones were quite out of "the range" :)
he's compensating..... for a small hog...
I think Stevie will explode (or implode?) if he goes too long without shredn a solo 😄
😂
Lol
The thing about Stevie T, he knows how to mix and produce music in a way that most people are trained to expect and associate with "quality music."
That's why even when he's taking the piss, it still comes through sounding like "top 10 quality..."
Cause it is.
There are no original songs at this point.
That is exactly the point of this video
9:39 that moment when he says cowboy boots and beers.🤣🤣
O. M. G. I can’t wait to show the wife this one! She’s a big country music fan and this is how I describe it too. BRILLIANT!!
Don't ever write comments but been watching your stuff for couple years now and you make me and my gf laugh and cheer us up when times get tough. And just wanted to say this video was amazing and this would be great to see at some live show as it's pretty dam good would love to see more original songs from you !
bump
This dude is mad talented... I would love to hear his serious music.
Freaking awesome. The only complaint anyone could have with Steve Travis is that he just sounds so much better than the real thing.
This and Signal Music Studio’s are the absolutely best country song writing lessons I’ve ever seen on TH-cam
