Excellent conclusion. I snuck into a show about a month before they absolutely blew up with “How You Remind Me”, with a crowd of maybe 800 people in a St Pete FL park. They put on an absolutely incredible show tbh
I saw Metallica live and they butchered the shit out of Sad But True. Couldn't keep tempo and couldn't play together to save their own lives. It was pretty bad. And James has lost a lot of his edge from vocal damage too. Maybe not across the board, but Nickelback covering Metallica gives Metallica live a run for their money.
Same, their songs are probably some of my most listened to songs on spotify, really good for getting your blood pumping, and getting you to wake tf up in the morning, without being too wild
I didn't like them growing up but I’ve grown to appreciate them for what they are (in my ears/eyes): the modern Foreigner. They write harmless, middle-of-the-road rock hits that your uncle thinks are awesome. I’m never going to listen to one of their albums. If they’re on the radio, I’m not stoked to hear it, but I’m not angry about it either. But, they do have their share of haters, for sure.
Portuguese metal crowd don't like posers, but I blame the ones that green-lit that lineup, they were oblivious or just dumb... Nevertheless throwing rocks to a person for not liking a band borderlines attempted murder.
Did you know a one pound object reaches the same velocity as a 9mm bullet? So rocks or maybe even beer cans could be seen as attempted murder. Yeah, it's happened a LOT.
That's not a bad song tho. As a matter of fact I'm gonna listen to it now EDIT: I'm listening to it now and its not great but it's fine. I wouldn't mind if it came on the radio at work.
I think a lot of people may just hate them for the memes, but I am a metal head and I really don't see any problem with their music, I mean, what is it wrong? The chord progressions? The melodies they use? Wrong drums patterns? Out of tune? What? ... Musically-wise what's the problem? (And "being mainstream" or not, is not an argument to define whether something is good or not). Some throw shit at them for "pretending" to be metal.... So now there are laws that allow people to put distortion to your guitar and play some riffs ONLY if you are a brutal person that drinks babies blood every morning?... If you don't match that criteria then you are a poser and it's illegal that you hear (or even) like metal music... I don't get it, people seem to hate just because they want to
@@kungfuman82 yes it's true. It was a metal festival in the north. I don't know what the hell Nickelback managers or the festival organiser were thinking !
Same! Also it never stops amaze me how great solo’s he does for the songs - well perhaps not this particular solo, but 90% of them are so good bands should adopt them. 🤘🎸🤘
The problem with nickelback is the songs that get radio play aren’t their best songs.. if you check the rest of the albums they have a ton of great songs. And live they are fantastic, they play banger after banger and put on an amazing live show.
Nickelback will always remind me of my boss from around 2005. He was very much a mid-50s suit and tie type guy who was always blasting out Nickelback from his Lexus as he thought it made him “cool”, so I think of them as a sort of mid-life crisis band. It was a handy boss-alert alarm though, as in “s**t the boss is here!”
Everything people say about Nickleback, I can easily say about AC/DC, Guns n Roses, or Led Zeppelin. With all 3 of those bands, it's the same riffs and chord progressions in every song. Does that make them objectively bad? No. The elitists tend of associate complexity with quality.
Well I wouldn't say that Nickleback's music sucks... It's just that Chad Kroeger is an asshole and I don't like him. Other than that I don't mind their existence.
Say there friend do you happen to know when supposedly Avril Lavigne was with Chad? That also means Chad ain't as old as I thought he was. Also is there any truth to the Avril fans being haters just for that? Cause were that true, I'd think Avril would have something to say about it. Ya know like the whole Juston Selina thing. Where he came at his own fans to leave Selina be.
I definitely think the elitists or "hate trenders" dislike Nickelback because it's a thing and it makes you "cool" or whatever in the music community, which is equally dumb and hypocritical. I wonder how much hatefulness you have to throw rocks at someone just because you just don't like their music (but you're in a concert with them in the line up so kinda weird and petty).

I saw Nickelback before they were big and a fairly small venue and it was one of the best shows I’ve been to in my life. The hit single of the day was “Old Enough” and I thought they were pretty good. Chad Kroeger seems to have figured out the formula for writing a Radiohead, like the guys in Train and i’m not gonna judge anyone for cashing in if they can. The main riff to their song “Burn it to the Ground” is as heavy and rocks as hard as anything from the band Volbeat but they don’t get any respect. Here’s how you know that Nickelback actually deserves a little bit of credibility, and that’s the fact that the lake Dimebag Darrell was good friends with those guys and was a fan of the music. After he passed they wrote a song in tribute called “Side of a Bullet” that was pretty badass, and it featured previously unreleased audio of Dimebag’s playing, of which there mush have been hundreds if not thousands of hours of, because the guy kept guitars and 4-track tape recorders all over his house so he could just catalog all the sweet riffs and solos he would come up with off the cuff, and he would go back through them looking for ideas whenever he needed song ideas. So, they basically wolf a bunch of that stuff together into a guitar solo, and I think some of it certainly inspired the main riff that they recorded. As far as I know, they were the only band that the late Vinne Paul allowed access to his brother’s audio archives and they split the songwriting credits and publishing with Dimebag, so that his estate would benefit from the release. Vinnie Paul was even asked to play on the track but he declined because he didn’t think he could do any better than Nickelback’s drummer. So, there was clearly some mutual respect for their musicianship, and it’s a shame they get such a bad rap because it’s entirely undeserved. I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that they became so massively successful in such a short span of time and you couldn’t escape their music anywhere, and people like to hate on people that are doing too good for some reason and like to take them down a peg if they start acting like they deserved it. Regarding the Nickelback feud with Stone Sour, I like both bands and think Corey Taylor is a hell of a singer, but Chad Kroeger is undeniably a brilliant songwriter that knows how to write hits-and if you just look at their album sales, Stone Sour’s best selling album and best selling single are on par with one of Nickelback’s mediocre releases. The way they acted at the show in Portugal or wherever is perfectly acceptable, based on the reaction of the crowd. If the crowd was just going nuts for the opening act and then they come out and get that little of a response from the crowd that actually paid to see them, then there’s no reason they should go out there and work their asses off for a bunch of people who don’t give a shit they are even on-stage. Unless they came back out and played at least three songs, then they more than likely walked away from the money they would’ve earned for that show. Don’t ask me why it’s three songs, or however many minutes, but that’s an industry standard contract when a band doesn’t perform, because then they don’t have to refund any tickets, if they play less than that amount they have to at least give back a partial refund to ticket holders who want a refund. So, don’t feel too bad for that crowd, they could’ve said “woo!” and had a fun night, but they tried to be too cool for the room and pretended they didn’t like the band they paid to see, and it serves them right.
I didn't even know hating on Nickelback was a thing back then... I only knew it a few years ago... My whole family loves their songs... we don't really focus on their drama... it's all about the music only... I don't think I can hate them... Still listening to their songs until now...
I was at a festival about 20 years ago. There were a bunch of bands with Nickelback headlining (it was when that spiderman song came out). There was a special, non playing, appearance by Godsmack. After everyone chanting for Godsmack to play a little, a band called Jimmy eat world agreed to let them use their instruments. Then Jimmy eat world got booed off stage and took their stuff with them. Nickelback took the stage after and the whole crowd was chanting for Godsmack to play. The singer had to tell everyone that the singer from godmack got drunk and left, but that they were there to rock out all night. People were pissed but Nickelback won over the crowd and played a really solid set. I don't get all the hate.
@@nehemiahzo_ Jimmy eat world got mad because nobody was paying attention. The whole crowd was just chanting for Godsmack. I saw Metallica live and they butchered the shit out of Sad But True. Couldn't keep tempo and couldn't play together to save their own lives. It was pretty bad.

With all 3 of those bands,
it's the same riffs and chord progressions in every song. Does that make them objectively bad? No. The elitists tend of associate
complexity with quality.

Mark is trash, and so is Facebook.
