Beautiful architecture but it's a bedroom with a partial kitchen(ette) and bathroom. There is no place to sit, relax or have company, other than to sit outside which is not always a logical solution. Nice idea though. [I was a designer in my 'former' days.]

I absolutely love the concept, design, and execution of the build of this tiny home. Many architects and interior designers completely ignore concepts of passive heating and cooling when conjuring up designs for homes and I’m super happy to see these concepts were not ignored here. Not to mention, the effective use of solar panels and the off grid water solution that help further keep the overhead costs minimal is just unreal.

So much to like here - the setting, the architecture, the materials used, and the minimalism. There's a calm and peacefulness that is very appealing. One thing lacking for me however is the absence of a living area where one could congregate and entertain or even just sit and read a book. And of lesser concern, I didn't see any kind of storage anywhere. Otherwise, really lovely.

I've never understood people who whine because a tiny house is too large or too luxurious or there's not enough storage or whatever. Just take the ideas you can use, leave the rest. It's not as if we're buying it.

I get what you mean.. with housing prices being what they are today I am actually considering a tiny house in the future..The thing I like about it is if you don't like where you live you can move the house to a new location.. it's better than having to build, buy or rent another home. It needs to be large enough to be practical for everyday life though.

I love the exterior, but to me the interior feels ill-conceived. Who wants to cook right next to where they sleep, and have their bedding take on the smells of their dinner? And I find showers with no barrier around them to be better in theory than in practice, because they tend to splash water all over, even if there is a depressed area for the drain. Finally, as someone else said, it’s too bad there isn’t some sort of a seating area other than the bed. Perhaps it could’ve been a queen bed to save some space for that.

i think it's an absolutely gorgeous home and looks very open, airy, cozy, unique. Gorgeous windows and high ceilings. However, as someone who has built many airbnb studios as accessory buildings... a living space is very important, and even though the open concept tub shower looks beautiful it will certainly feel uncomfortable to use as most guests are not accustomed to it and that narrows the target market. One of the smaller studios I've built is just 370sf and in the layout it has a full living room with a 3 seater couch, full size kitchen including a full size island/breakfast bar, and of course a separate washroom - the only thing it does not have is the free-standing tub

I agree. This is just… an AirBnB. It’s not very cleverly designed at all, more than anything else that’s small that has all the necessaries. It’s not innovative. There’s not even storage or much of a living space. Which, as an overnight spot isn’t necessary, I get, but… that just reduces how much they have to innovate, makes it less livable, and not what this channel was supposed to be about, in their own words.
It’s a lovely property, but there are many of those. I find myself disappointed.

Absolutely love this, but there are two things about the design that doesn't feel right. First, the bed opposite the kitchen, the bedding is going to absorb all the smells and spills from the kitchen, i would have put the sink next to the bath in the bathroom and put the bed where the sink is. Second, is the lack of 'living room', no sofa or place to sit indoors, especially near that wonderful log burner fire. Maybe an option would be to have a sofa bed, thus combining living room and bedroom into one space without compromising floor space.
    Just my opinion :-)

The toilet and the bathroom are so big it kinda surprised me lol. Would've tried and added a little chilling space, I'm guessing that outside bench is not that comfy lol but other than that this looks so cozy

Beautifully finished with great materials, but floor plan is seriously floored, I reckon. It's a weekender, so who needs a super spacious bathroom and a seperate toilet with a seating bench? These could have been incorporated into one smaller room, freeing up enough space to move the bed out of the kitchen, and therefore creating a dining / sitting room. As it is, I think I'd start to go bonkers very quickly.

It's basically a European design copied for Australia but is fundamentally wrong in design for Australian conditions.
In Europe you have short warm summers and long cold winters thus you need to take full advantage of the limited sun. You are thus looking for the sun all the time.
However in hotter climates like Australia and Africa, the opposite applies, we do not want the sun, we need shade.
You also don't want a pitched roof which is meant for snow to slide off.
It would be better to build a flat roof which doubles up as a water storage unit from which water can flow by gravity, no pumps required.
You also need long over hanging roofs which provide shade from the hash sun and from where you can look out over the fields with a barbeque.
It's nicely built however with nice materials.

i think it's more just a visual "neat" thing than practical. some spots in australia get super cold though dude, like up in the mountains. I went to the Blue Mountains once and it was so damn cold at night holy moly. Not sure where this mugbe place is though.

When I was a kid living on a remote station; Mum used frozen veg, powdered milk, and lots of shelf-stable products. She made most of our bread and biscuits/cakes, fruit was reasonably shelf-stable (i.e. apples that last a while), frozen or off our own trees. Dad slaughtered our own meat, and anything fresh was planned and used within a day or two of getting home. You have to plan, either individual meals for however long or what variety to keep on hand for

  • @DexJedi
    @DexJedi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

It looks really nice and the surrounding is beautiful. But I do not agree with several points.
    1. The architect says 3:53 : "The main idea was that many of the dining can happen outside [...] on the concrete steps." That sounds like a really cheap excuse for an uncomfortable dining area. Like.. "Do you also have a nice chair for dining?" "No, but you can sit on the concrete outside. Have a nice stay".
    2. The bathroom really is an architects wet dream. All open, minimalistic with many windows. But let's be honest. Would it not be much better if the room for the toilet would have been extended to the bathroom? If you are staying as a couple, it would have been nice to have at least one seperate space where you can relax on your own. Besides, with the open shower AND open bathroom you will be losing a lot of heat which makes showering a lot less comfortable in my opinion. Another bad solution because the architect finds aesthetics more important than comfort.
    3. Why install a 2 point gas top? Why not a 4 point induction? With induction you won't need gas at all anymore. And you already have enough solar panels to power it.
