It’s an interesting study when he noted today’s things aren’t built to last. Yet, we call it progress. Gentleman like this hold the balance, and perhaps will one day tip the scale. Well done.
I still think about how precise the Giza pyramids were build & the fact it's alligned with the constellations tells you they've had advanced astronomical knowledge & other worldly technology
@@blznft9513 So true. I had a quick visit to them 25yrs ago. I remember stepping off the coach & just standing there in awe. After about 10 mins my wife came over and joked “You can shut your mouth now”.
The Flak Towers in Germany were built to last, the Russian Army blasted the tower with there biggest Howitzer's for hours and decided to give up as they were not getting any where or doing any damage. They will outlast the Pyramids.
The shipping container is on Airbnb. Can highly recommend. Robbie even invited me in to see his house but I ran out of time. Glad I got to see it here!
The build quality appears to be very strong, but also has that delicateness to it that makes it approachable. Thoughtful plumbing and use of water. Love everything about this home!
This not just a house this is a dream. I absolutely love that calmness, air and the clarity of all lines. Nothing occasional, everything thought through.
It’s really special when architects think about how a home will age and fit into the natural landscape. It takes great consideration to think about building a home that will only fit more and more into the earth on which it will be placed. The rest shown to the natural landscape is inspiring.
Jaw dropping. Incredible. To live there, to be there. Makes perfect sense. Everything is so thought through and considered. A house for generations to savour and appreciate. Thank you.
After so many luxe designs it’s lovely to see something thoughtful. I often think we’ll start to look at environmentally friendly homes in a different way where we will use traditional materials but more thoughtfully to produce less waste and to create buildings that last!
The build quality appears to be very strong, but also has that Delicatessens to it that makes it approachable. Thoughtful plumbing and use of water. Lave everything about this home !
This is amazing, what a simple, functional and well thought out design. The time and energy that must have been put in to get to that level of simplicity is inspiring.
Well designed project, congratulations! and for once an architect that talks to the point, without using every 5 seconds architectural buzz words. Love your style mister Walker
I really appreciate the thought process of this home, so well thought out and reflects not only nature, but the calmness of the owner. Another comment spoke to balance, absolutely present here and a model for others to condor moving forward. Beautiful home, built to last.
Mr Walker's voice is calming, much like the environment he and his home are surrounded by. I am sure, given the chance to have a home like this someday, I'd be able to get in touch with my creative side more and capture more dark sky images without the risk of light pollution. What a perfect place to unwind and focus, and practice sustainability as well.
A well engineered home, equally elegant and charming.I like the character and personality of the man the most. Hope his kids and grandkids cherish and have a great time in his home!
I'm in awe of this house. All the design features are thoughtful and efficiently engineered. My lordy.....it's stunning. The friggin' towel rack....how simple and clever is that! The sheet metal work, especially round the fireplace, is exquisite.....and the angles in the west-facing metal screens allowing the view but blocking the harsh western sun. Congratulations and thank you Robbie. The Local Project are the best home design presenters out there.
At first I thought “what a simple house. it feels very cold.” But, as he explained every aspect of building it and the thought that went into the design, my perspective started to change. At the end when he said “it’s only going to get better” I thought, “Wow. Now, that’s a home.” Well done!
My favorite house. Simple. Well thought out in terms of design, materials and habitation. Really impressed with the owner/designer from the concept to the execution. Well done.
Civil Engineering person here. I love EVERYTHING about this. One thing though @3:21 is the immense rutting from erosion caused by high intensity rain events. That driveway will need an armored rock channel there with under drains kicking the water out every 10-20 meters or that whole slope at the top could fail and LITERALLY slide off in a rotational mass failure. Use the rock that's already there!!
This is absolutely one of the most honest expression of simplicity I’ve seen, yet packed with creativity and craftsmanship and packed full of the warmth of texture..A design classic in the making..
I love your videos. Some houses speak to me; others don’t. Sometimes the Architect-speak is a bit self-indulgent, but I always look forward to watching and listening. This guy impressed me by the amount of thought that went into many of the design decisions. Thoroughly absorbing video and wonderful house
Very Beautiful house and well designed. This reminds me of when we built a modern designed house on top of a hill in WY several years ago. Similar to his situation, he said the property was cheaper than lower lots....well, there's a reason for that, and I found out why that is. I learned that living on top of a hill can be downright mortifying with strong weather systems that will attack a completely exposed structure. We encountered 55-75 mph wind storms that would last 16-20 hours. With the unrelenting force of the wind, It sounded like a freight train was inches away from the windows. We strategically placed the structure on the hill so that the winds wouldn't hit the house directly broadside. Regardless, through many storms, we were sure our house would be blown apart. Luckily, our builder did a fantastic job and the house remained solidly affixed and we never experienced any damage from weather (still can't believe that). As beautiful as the views and sunsets were, I would never consider building on a hill again. Though, I must say, we never had a bug problem up there.😉
I love it, how the plant was distributed, the place, the materials, except the walls, I never liked the raw gray block, but the house is still amazing.
"...and I'm hoping... it'll soon look like we haven't been here" was such an impactful thing to say. You can tell that this man has such an intense respect and love for his surroundings, not only the house, but also the world and nature around it. What a beautiful, beautiful home. Bravo!
What a powerful property in the middle of that landscape...would be great to check back in on this place in 10 years or so and see how the landscaping and patina has immersed even further into the surrounds.
I find the only materialistic thing I aspire to in my life has always been an amazing space like to call home one day, these videos always remind me of that goal. Another amazing video, The Local Project
This is truly truly stunning!the wide shot of him and his daughter in the foreground and the gorgeous sunset in the background nearly bought tears to my eyes!truly a dream
The house, the location, everything is so beautiful about it. The minimalist design is amazing, does not strike out too much and yet creates an ambience of completion. Given a chance I would love to live in a place like this.
Very nice aesthetic. The humble material palette has been articulated in beautiful ways. Juxtaposition of materials is consistent throughout. Overall, a thoughtful design.
Beautiful, marvelous use of materials, elegant, so well thought of, solid and delicate, landscape respectful .... GREAT GREAT thanks for open it to the public
With a current renovation happening on our house, I am constantly horrified at the amount of building waste! Love that you have designed things to minimise all that waste - Australian building practices need to really step up the game to improve on this. Love the house, love the landscape!!
I remember watching a vid about the shipping container dwelling which were being lived in at the time while the ideas were coming together for the house. I absolutely love the location, the concept, design and reality of this home. It's as if it's a living part of this family that will be nurtured and grow *with* generations to come.
What a beauty! Great location. It's sustainability + respect to the landscape. Love the idea of less waste use when building homes. Concrete floor and exposed tubings work well.
This house has really inspired me. It is my dream to build something with similar materials to last for generations in the English Yorkshire countryside. Thank you.
Dang! I love everything about this house, and the owners vision for its future - very family oriented. For sure, this property will flourish as it ages. Amazing architecture - lines are so clean, in and out looks very fresh, fixtures are efficient, it’s just bursting with positivity! Well done!
Simple, thoughtful and beautiful. I love the approach/thinking-a living breathing and ageing house. Perfectly sited, weather responsive, shelter and exposure, durable. What's not to like!?
This is what happens when a production is audiovisually in tune; music, visuals and emotions in a collaborative dance. Inspiring.
I think they need more eurobeats that drown the vocal with more aggressive cuts so it's "more dynamic" for more sex appeal XD.

The people that conceive, create on paper then manage the actual construction of a home like this, are heroes to me.

Im quite speechless. The beauty not only lies in the eyes of the beholder. But also in the utility of the design. This is stunning.
One day, maybe one day I will live in a house like this. And when that moment comes I will be the happiest person alive
