    • @heartbeat8706
      @heartbeat8706 5 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      shogun harlem I kinda agree with u and then I don’t Boos mother shouldn’t get a free pass just cause she’s dying she had so many years to get to kno her daughter as herself. Just because she was given a home and fed and cloth doesn’t mean she didn’t suffer emotionally. Hell Sophia is transgender and her father wanted to see her when he was bout to die even tho he was homophobic he even called her by her new name. Which shows that Boos mother could’ve accepted boo for who she is before she passed

    • @lucytriggle4308
      @lucytriggle4308 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      shogun harlem personally as someone from the LGBT community i can say that having your existence, who you are identity wise is soul crushing and these feelings can lead to emotional issues.
      Heck i have a sister who insults me for being LGBT, and when i spoke of being Non Binary she refused to accept it.
      I only ever feel myself around people who accept who i am.
      It is hard to be around family who dont truly know you or accept you and sometimes being prouder and louder is the best way to spite their awful behaviour (like what boo is doing)
      And as others say, dying doesnt give someone a pass to being a cunt, you either respect others or die being a narrow minded asshole who never broadened their horizons
      You learn so much from communities outside your own and ones you belong in that arent ‘normal’
      I always thought ‘isnt pride just for gay people?’ When i was young but having gone to pride for years its full of people of numerous orientations, genders and lifestyles.
      And im white, but my relationships and connections with my friends of different origins has opened my eyes and helped me understand so many different cultures besides my own.
      And after developing mental health issues and being labelled as disabled, joining the disabled community has opened up my mind more to all types of disabilities and the way people live with theirs.
      Its a sad life to not broaden your knowledge or horizons of the lives of people different from you.
      Maybe thats what Boo’s parents and so many people online today need to realise.

      Some people just aren't worth your time no matter who they are to you. If her mother was going to be so upset over her ""costume"" rather than focusing on the fact that after years of not seeing her daughter she came back to her to see her one last time; then it isn't worth walking in there. There's a reason boo left in the first place, why walk right back into it after all those years?

I think he's indifferent with whatever his daughter does, but just maybe just this once (while her mom is dying in there) just to wear some other casual clothes. Perfect empowering scene! I Stan with Boo. She finally choose herself. She finally stood up for her inner child and decided to start truly living! To all the girls that are seeing this and have or will be through this, if you're old enough to provide for you and be safe, don't wait for a second to choose to start living fully because you're fear of the hurt of rejection. Let me break it down for you, by denying a part of you, you're rejecting yourself not only in the presence of others but every single second of your life, so you're already hurting before even experiencing that hurting you're so scared of!
    You're being didn't came to earth to be dead, it came to live. We each came alone, and alone we go, so our conscious choices make our life, there's thing we "can't choose", so the one we can we must choose for ourselves. If others are not happy with it, is their choice, their picture perfect, their illusion of control of other human beings. People should and can not own other people! So go be you, go live your life! No one else can do it like you can!

      because he knew what his wife's reaction would be. right or wrong, he knows it wouldn't go well. All that would happen is mom would freak out, boo would feel insulted and hurt, and then everyone leaves unhappy. vs trying to stop that from happening by asking her to change, which is also kind of insulting. There is just no way to really win here

    It makes me SO mad that there are "parents" like this. I don't care if my daughter grows up to be gay, trans, has purple hair, piercings covering her body, etc. She is MY DAUGHTER that I gave birth to. The amazing daughter that I bonded with that gave me the best years of my life. We do not have to agree with what our children do, but dang it, LOVE THEM. There is a way to disagree with them and not support a lifestyle you don't agree with and STILL love them, not abandon them! There are many more people out there that never even had the chance to have children! MY daughter is my world and my whole life! IF you've grown up Christian, that is fine, but we are NOT to abandon our children. If anything, we are supposed to embrace them MORE and show them the unconditional love that JESUS shows us every day in spite of our flaws and in spite of our sin!! At the end of our lives, what ever way we lived is between us and God. It makes me so upset that a Mother could just write off her own daughter. I could NEVER do that!!

But i can also see why boos dad sorta popped off; he doesn’t really have much time to meet her in the middle this time around, he’s clearly showing remorse while she rants about it, but he let her go because he wasn’t gonna push the issue or make her do that if she really didn’t want to, and if it was that big of a deal to her. he respected her but he also respected his wife. y’all really gotta see it from a different perspective aha

    If I were her I would have just changed my cloths and went to say goodbye to my mom. I have a butch sister so I understand all of this but what I always tell my sister you'll never ever change thier mind about this so in weddings and family dinners it won't kill you to wear a skirt just for one day for them so she does everyone happy in the end its just close inside your still the same person

      Kbear2097 You do not know me and I am not shallow at all. You can disagree with someone by replaying to the things they said rather than attacking the person who said the thing you disagree with that's how an argument should go so if you disagree with me please tell me what you disagree on and I would respect your opinion but there is no need for name calling and accusing and making things personal.

      Yeah, she should have just put on something less masculine real quick. I have a friend who was born into a muslim family, but she went the secular route. Still, she wears a scarf on her head when she visits her grandmother and other old people in her family. She doesn't like it at all, but it's just easier. She ditches it before she's even in the car.

      Your question is one that I actually spent a lot of time thinking about, especially when I was a teenager and basically in denial about the kind of person I wanted to be.
      I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that sometimes you'll never change their minds. In those situations where your own personal identity comes up against the beliefs of others and their expectations of you, you have a choice. You can do what you want, or you can do what they want. For me, and I think for a lot of butches, we arrive at our identity through so much soul-searching, confusion, discrimination, and self-hatred. And then you get into these situations, where it feels like you're asked to "undo" all that hard work- for what? To make other people happy? Other people who don't even treat you as if they like you? That becomes a really tough sell.

    Thinking about it, she's pretty bratty about the whole situation. Her father was right. You can't have everything you want all the time if you want to connect with other people, sometimes we must make concession in order to work with other people. Being a self-centered person wouldn't work in a society.

    • @AlexS-oj8qf
      @AlexS-oj8qf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@laurengeorge4251 It is. Her arguement is always about how it's who she is and other people should accept that. If she's not self centerd she would find a way to compromise. We all do it everyday, you think an outfit is good but someone doesn't like it so you change a bit. The fact that she refuse to make her mother happy by at least wear what she wants her to wear is just stupid. I wear stupid clothes my parent buy me all the time, I hate it but I find a way to still make them happy by occasionally wearing it, especially when meeting them. It's not that hard to pretend for a few hours.

    • @AlexS-oj8qf
      @AlexS-oj8qf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheJadedJames Of course. Their whole arguement is just how she like to wear a boyish clotges and her mother doesn't want that. She's in her death bed for fuck's sake just do what she wants. You know she like feminime clothes so why she didn't even make an effort?

    She couldn't have changed JUST to go in and see her mother? It's not like she was asked to change for the rest of her life. Geez... I just find that to be sort of selfish and immature. It's just clothes, put on a different outfit for a couple minutes. Nah I don't like her, her personality is shit. Good actress though.

      I agree. I understand a teenager being stubborn about her clothes and hair, but this woman is 42. It's just CLOTHING. It doesn't fundamentally change anything about you. Wear slacks and a sweater for 10 minutes. Nope, can't do that cause I have to win this fight, childishness. Yes, her mom is childish about it too. So be the bigger person for one last time. That is how an adult "wins."

    The way her body shaped and her posture, she wouldn't look right in feminine clothes! Some people just don't fit certain norms! Like I wear women's pants from time to time and I look good in them because I have fat thighs for a guy! But I see certain gay dudes try to rock those same pants and it don't look right because they have chicken legs so the pants make ' em look anorexic 😂😂
