    Had exact same problems with 2002 Odyssey. Got small metal shavings out of one of three solenoids and resolved issue. Had been told it would require transmission rebuild or replacement but this fix saved me some big problems. I added a quart of Lucas in the new fluid. Thanks for the video.

    With the two barrel solenoids below the starter, the starter must be loosened but its easier if you remove it to get to the upper black solenoid. The one that is brown goes down below the black one. Don’t reverse them because they’re not exactly the same.
    I will try removing the solenoid you did tonight and hopefully will have as much success. My transmission will occasionally shift above 2nd when cold but then goes below 3rd again. I hope to have a van I can take more than five miles from the house soon!

    This is the 2nd time I've watched this video of yours and I had the slipping in 2nd or 3rd gear and I replaced the 3rd and 4th pressure switches and so far no more slipping, but this video is very interesting because looking at the diagram for the AT sensors, this one is really the only one I see with a filter so thank you for this video, looks easy. I will buy a new gasket though, it's $10.60 plus shipping. I put so much work and $$$ into this thing I'm going get new parts. your van looks really rusted, you must live by water

    my 3rd gear is gone.. have to start in d2 and shift to D like a manual car... smh I have an 02... will definitely have this checked out

    The checking of these solinoids are all being done when they are cold. Consider checking them at the transmission operating temperature.

      Doris ryan Checking solenoids at operating temperature seems like a great idea but how to do it? If I have everything prepositioned with shields & covers off I can only get one at most off before the motor is cooling.
      Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    At 3:30 that looks like the second gear solenoid. I was told to remove it and clean out two small filters one is in the solenoid the other is in the block. I have a 2002 Odyssey that is slamming into second and third gear.
    I was told to temporarily shift manually starting at gear number one

    Have a 01 Acura TL P0730 code Smfh which solenoids should I go after mileage is at 171350

    Check the number 6 fuse (drivers lest bank .. top to bottom) for looseness. As the fuse box connector ages the fuse come loose and shows sporadic transmission, lack of shifting and other codes. The easy check and fix is to put a slight bend in fuse electrode on both sides to ensure contact. If shift and engine/transmission codes clear ... and stay clear ... the issue resolved. I also removed fuse box and fixed connectors but over time same shift issues and codes started again. Fuse bends are now permanent on my 2002 has 250K with the original as is transmission. This fuse 6 issues started at around 150K. First tranny oil change was after the incident and also took place around 150K miles. Then tranny oil and filter (under battery tray) changed approximately once per year 150k forward. Other codes pointed me to fuse 6, often dash blackouts and charging issues also occurred. If you are having similar troubles - I hope this works for you. Bought it new in 2002 and its been a great van!

      Well I didn't catch it quick enough and it went out on me. So I went out and got me another van. 2006 Honda Odyssey. And so far so good

      Glad it helped! Ours is still working after doing this solenoid work, still have some ragged shifting at times but no CEL or other indicators. Probably about due for another ATF change :)

    The dual Linear solenoid : 28250_P6H-024 resistance: 5.6 ohm.
    Valve A - Black sol (: Red is +, White is - )
    Valve B - Brown sol ( Brn/Wht is + , GRN is - )

    91301-PC9-003 Oring
    The single Linear solenoid: 28250-P7W-003 resistance: 5.6 ohm

    I searched and searched and can not find that second solenoid (4 screw one) that you showed on my 2000 odssey are they different? I even looked at some diagrams online and some pictures show that solenoid being there and some do not so I wonder if there was a design change from my 2000 to your 2003? Any feed back would be appreciated.

      yes there was a design change, whatever the diagram shows is what you have, if you do not see a gasket like this than it doesn't apply to your vehicle, I believe the 2002 -2004 is 5 speed and older 1999-2001 are 4 speed transaxles

    my 2005 odyssey lost power suddenly, checked the code, and got a ttc solenoid circuit switch.It's not driving in drive, but neutral.

    Cleaning the screen isn't going to fix anything. Maybe for a little while, then will become plugged again. That's clutch material in the screens. Somethings coming apart in the trans. Very common to see this in Honda's and acuras.

      is long term solution to take apart the tranny, replace the clutch pack friction ring material and then rebuild to factory tolerances? the torque converter appears to have problems too. The transmission I have is the flawed 5-speed BYBA model.

      There are 2 codes for this. One is transmission response. Which is normally the screen clogged. The other is Torque Converter. Which clogs all the screens. One being the Internal one. Which can not be cleaned. It has to be replaced with the updated one...

    i have a question:
    my honda 2003 accord is fine when driving in D or any gear. it's ONLY when i FIRST start the car, and shift to D, it would delay a good 3-5 seconds then have a jerk as it shifts. after driving , that doesnt occur. also, the fluid hasnt been changed on the tranny for a year, and i plan on replacing 1/4 of it or 1/2 to be safe. would you say this is a solenoid based issue?
    anyone has suggestions?

      ItsGigaHDMyNigga I think that's the torque converter going bad since I have the same issue with my 2004 odyssey. few seconds then sudden lurch forward, like it finally slips into gear. do you have the v6?

      +chad007 You are welcome, good luck! It's been over a month now, several hundred miles and the CEL hasn't returned on our van....I still haven't gotten to that solenoid under the throttle body area, but the van is running ok and we were able to get her through inspection

      Bernard Sanidad might have to do with the sensor air conditioner pressure sensor something like AutoZone should tell you or take it to a mechanic

    Just curious, I have a 2003 Odyssey experiencing the same transmission issues yours did. Slipping between 2nd-3rd. Code p0730, TCS light and engine light comes on. Do you still have your 03 Odyssey and how is the status of your transmission after cleaning the solenoids? thanks for your help.

    remember to take the fuse out and leave for one minute to reset fuse 13 in the passenger side

      Could do to reset the code, correct, but I opted to leave it and run her for a few cycles to see if it would go off, and it eventually did...that gave me confidence that I'd actually fixed it.

    My 3 gear is getting rough to go into and going through town it kicks out of gear and acts like it's in neutral and then comes back on after switching gears. I'm thinking it's a selinoid but haven't had this issue before.

    My Odyssey 2003 has the same issue. The Van's gear slip once time at high speed (over 60mph). If I run at low speed it's okay. The code P0740 also appears only at high speed (over 60mph). If I clear the code, and run slowly, the code will not come up. Do you have any idea? Thanks

      Sounds like your van's symptoms are a bit different than mine, ours had issues with the 2nd to 3rd shift which is common on these transmissions...but you might still be able to help things by cleaning the solenoid screens, particularly if you can get at the one involved in the shift your tranny is having trouble with. We did have the P0740 CEL code on ours, and the solenoid cleaning I show here did do the trick, no code or CEL after I did this work and she is still working. About the screen that you asked about, that one is in the body of the tranny and I teased it out with a q-tip so I wouldn't damage it, it slides back in easily enough. Just don't drop it or you might never find it!

      I did it today, yes, the screen was super dirty. I cleaned and put everything back. The car seems okay now. But I can see that the rubber gasket is going to fail. Do you know where can I buy it. I did some search but nothing so far

      No you can't, I tried rotating all positons & pulling at same time on the 2nd solenoid- closest to the Starter /transmission & can't be removed until removing the bottom starter bolt & loosening the top starter bolt & move or wedge starter up top until u have the enough room/space to remove the 2nd Solenoid all the way out!

      it can cost you $0.00 if you use RTV but the gasket he shows with the filter only cost $11 so just buy a new one, RTV is a mess and really hard to get off if you need to get to this part again

      Take about three hours plus new gaskets if they are just cleaning the strainers on both solenoids. So safe to say like 500ish

      Not sure, but probably the solenoid would clog with debris at some point and then not work at all, and then you'd have to replace the entire solenoid.

      it's a lot easier to clean screens than the valve body. It's even easier to do regular maintenance with ATF 3x3: pay a little to save a lot else they'll get you?

    Did you ever find a way to get that lower solenoid removed that was so hard to remove? (that wouldn't clear an obstruction)

      I changed mine. It's blocked by the starter. Just pull the starter and replace the two solenoids.

      The starter only has to be loosened and tipped up to get it out.

    with soo many issues with honda automatic transmissions, I don't know why or how they are still in business. what a junk company. great motors but fucking hell if they will ever get the transmission right. don't think that will ever happen. i'd rather buy a ford that this shit, and that's saying ALOT. or... just stick to manual trans.

      Well, did you change ATF as scheduled? My 03 Ody has 234,000 miles on it and I only changed one time at 200,000. It started to show this problem. I have to say that I should have followed Honda's maintenance schedule. Nobody talked about ATF seriously so I did not know how important it was back then.

      +SHASTA LEWIS Good luck, I hope it helps...make sure to do a fluid change otherwise if it's a solenoid screen that's clogged, it will probably just clog again.
