I have a hand-me-down 2006 toyota corolla, maxed odometer for over a year, and a check engine light that will rarely go off after an oil change. The code i recieved is faulty solenoid. Im an idiot and after watching ur vid, realized ive been good with oil, have gone through a ton of raidiator fluid (bc every few weeks the engine starts getting hot, but settles after the heater kicks in), but have failed on the trans fluid. Just purchased a trans solenoid from rock auto. 100% positive my trans fluid is prob non existent 🤦♀️ i try lol! Thank you so much for your video! Fixing this problem def isnt rocket surgery and i need this car to keep working! Im a disabled cancer survivor and indont have the funds for another vehicle. Ty again!! Im hoping after gettimg the trans fluid up to par and replece that shift solenoid ill be ok ❤

@@UriyZ9mb8e im so happy my dads old commuter (he was a cop and had about an hour commute for a while) I am dealing with a few small issues now. Beside my trans solenoid needing to be replaced, my upper coolant hose is leaking and a couple weeks ago, my airbag light went on. I think it maybe from the coolant leak causing corrosion to that sensor. Despite it all, the car has lasted for longer than expected! ❤

This seems to be a common Toyota problem. The need for a filter change is also often the problem. They do get clogged after 150,000 miles. I cut mine in half and it was really a mess.
For a 2009 toyota corolla, the SMOG shop guy said to get it smogged and fix the pressure control solenoid prob. in the transmission (problem was P2716) , He wants $2500 / F&R AUTO. in WASCO , CALIFORNIA. im a female so I know he saw me coming. I'm glad i saw this video.

Great video, after 5 years i found someone making a fix similar to what i might need, hey man, what about p0746 pressure control A performance solenoid/stuck off. Its a camry 2003 le, its being this way since one winter going up a steep driveway spinning the tires, after that always revs before shift when stop the car, and reverse only works when its warm and jerks badly if is reversing in a steep angle. First time after got messed up it would not engage in reverse. I replaced fluid and filter, seemed be less worse but issue still going, i bought another car later but kept the camry, i was away for awhile in the army, now back home and its time to fix the camry

Well boss! Is that solenoid in charge of the Drive mode ?? Cause I have to deal with one actually, when the fluid become hot 🔥 there's no problem but Early in the morning I've to wait 2 or 3 minutes after switching on the car before the car moves in Drive mode!

You can take them off and put them in your new pan if you're going to buy a new pan they stay in place. Theyre for collecting any little shavings or metal dust
Where did you get the solenoid? I got a 2005 Corolla for my grand nieces; it threw a P0741, but the Check Engine light went out after a week. Dunno if it will come back, probably will. 131K. Fluid looked good.

My 2007 Rav4 U151E delays first gear every morning for about 5 full minutes. The rest of the day is fine, no delay unless it sits for 8 hours. I also noticed if it's cold outside, 1st gear will delay again in a about 4 hours. What solenoid would 1st gear be?
Solenoid A controls first gear. Initially I would make sure the transmission fluid is full and check for codes. Possibly could be a faulty solenoid/low fluid pressure.

Junkyard bud. Or online literally anywhere. Go oem. "07 corolla S transmission shift solenoid". Try rock auto or something. Best to go cheap at a junkyard to make sure that that's really your issue. There's many ways to diagnose a p0741 code. I have that code but I can shift just fine. Deep low hum and transmission power loss though, from dirty transmission fluid. I'm headed to a junkyard today to grab another solenoid. You best do the same unless you really wanna go brand new. They're expensive pieces.
You can buy it new from many Toyota dealerships with online discounts for a few hundred bucks, part #35250-12030, Automatic Transmission Control Solenoid. I found mine used off a Matrix at the junk yard for $79, works great. Can also get one off a 03'-08' Corolla. Just go OEM.
P0741 torque converter clutch solenoid circuit performance or stuck off. Replacing the shift solenoid restored the performance- just need to keep the fluid full

The filter on most Toyotas of that generation if not all use what would be essentially a steel wool screen. If it was a paper filter I would say change it but it being a steel wool style filter then it's okay.

after you swapped it out do did you have to do anything else? As I just swaped it out and it still has issues. Less issues but still no reverse.

I found it on a wrecked Matrix at a salvage yard, but otherwise best to get a good online discount from Toyota dealerships

Your drive Seal is bad
Same problem with 06 camry. When cold first slips, reverse is fine, once warm no issues, fluid is full.
