You are the best! 240,000 miles and the trans started to shift hard 1-2 and 3-4 immediately after I let vehicle sit for a 3 week vacation. went to multiple "reputable" trans shops, $2800-3200 for rebuilds. did exactly as you said and the trans works perfectly. if I can get your info I would gladly buy you a steak dinner. Thanks Mike

Would just like to add that this video is right on the money. I took my element to a transmission shop and was told I needed a new transmission. I fixed the shifting problems for less than $100 by switching the solenoids as recommended in this video. Can't thank you enough!

I replace the dual solenoid last year on a CRV I picked up "needing a trans", the person I bought the car from had an independent transmission shop and local Honda dealer tell them it needed a rebuild. The issue this car had was between 1st and 2nd gear the transmission would slip coming out of 1st and slam into second. The solenoid was just as shown in this video. I ended up buying an aftermarket solenoid and the car shifted perfectly, I was very happy. I wish this video was available last year (I looked everywhere before just getting down to business to figure it out myself)! Great work explaining.. I should have pulled a solenoid from a pick and pull yard!

Thank you so much! My MDX 2002 has the same problem. The biggest issue is that there is no codes! Well explained, easy to fix.

Thanks I went to 2 mechanics and one told me it could be a solenoid or the transmission and would need a rebuild… he said to drive it till it breaks down. Didn’t sit well with me. Went to another mechanic and he told me he couldn’t fix it because he didn’t have a transmission key and the previous mechanic erased the codes. So now I’m scrambling to figure it out and know the terminology to be able to understand may be happening. This is helpful now to find an honest mechanic that want to do the work.

I want to say thank you for that video I was able to replace both solenoids, unfortunately I could not get them from a salvage yard, and I did not want to spend $900.00 dollars from Honda, I purchased the solenoids from Amazon $178.00 for Both. Shifting problems are fixed, thank you.
