    S1: YTA. OP is beyond disgusting and not only made her sister's life horrible, but framed her for their "prank". Ironically though, cps and authorities should've gotten involved anyway because their parents were actually trash. Even if the mom decided to disown them over a lie OP told as a child, she shouldn't be keeping OP or Sandra from their father.

    Story 1: YTA. Not for what OP did as a child, but because OP continues to downplay the situation as a 28 year old adult. That lie completely destroyed their family and their family's reputation and she showed zero remorse for it as an adult should.

      There's so much of that story that doesn't make sense. Plus, the sister jumps in with her side of the story. OP denies that it is her sister.
      That had to be a heck of a "prank" for 9/10 yr old twins to pull off. Supposedly All of the adults involved couldn't get to the bottom of it. The hell their parents went through. That kind of thing would bring everyone and all of the institutions down on their parents. OP should consider herself lucky that all Mom did was B smack her and kick her out.
      What hits me is that they sat back,watched their parents receive all kinds of hell. Watch their parents being hurt. Yet neither one of them spoke up. A 9/10 yr old didn't even give a crap about their parents or the rest of the family.

      Yeah there’s something off cause by 28 you should fully understand that a “prank” like that could’ve ruined the entire family’s life and it shouldn’t be an “oh I thought she’d find it funny”

    S1: OP is a psychopath. pranks are something everyone will laugh at. not something that causes trouble and possibly gets children removed from their home. as a kid, I pulled pranks in school like turning my shirt inside-out and if someone asked about it, I would say I don't know what they're talking about. everyone would laugh later and it would be a good time

    • @TheBigExclusive
      @TheBigExclusive 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup. Pranks are something everyone laughs at once revealed. Even the victim of the prank must laugh at it. If they don't laugh, then you've gone too far or pranked someone you should have never pranked.

    S2 - i understand op's sister wanting to escape the pressures of the city, but i feel terrible for how she did it. she abandoned the family and had them wonder whether she was still alive. she could have sent snail mail or something.

    Story #2 - I understand OP's sister. I grew up in a city, and it was suffocating. The noise, the crime, the pollution, the poverty... you can live next to a million people and never really know anyone.
    Then my parents moved us to the suburbs. That was a bit better, but can still feel crowded.
    Then I moved to a rural area, and It was like a weight was lifted. My physical health got better, my mood improved, I was suddenly interested in everything, I wanted to do more. My neighbors, though more physically distant, are closer relations now, but not to the point of imposing on my independence.
    Some people thrive in cities, but I am not one of them. I like being able to walk out my backdoor into a field, with a forest behind that, and there's no one around, just nature and wildlife. I've never been one for "meditation", but as others have described it... that's what it feels like all the time now. No distractions, just being present in the moment.
    The way in which the sister left may not have been ideal, but I understand the necessity of it, and had it been open for discussion at the time, she may have compromised to appease family and never really have found what she was looking for. Sometimes you need to get away and fix your own life before you can consider others. It's like the airplane safety briefing, secure your own oxygen mask before assisting others with theirs. You're of no use to anyone if you're suffocating.

    The notion of a flawless marriage or relationship is a myth. There's no set formula for success; what works for one couple may not work for another. Yet, I've discovered that there's always a way forward, even in the most challenging times. Five years ago, my wife and I encountered significant hurdles in our marriage that nearly led to divorce. Despite the adversity, we managed to weather the storm and emerge from it with our bond renewed and revitalized

    The family in the first story is a hot mess, and the lie in the first story is only really "funny" if nothing came it (and even then it would be "funny" in a "that could have ended a lot worse" type of way.)

    The second story that sister is evil, I get wanting to get away from all the noise but that long and with contact. She never visited, called, or even wrote once in 15 years, if op hadn’t randomly run into her she probably would’ve never talked to her family again. She’ll probably disappear again.

Btw advice is one thing but when people start adding details, changing the narrative and then using that to give advice? Thats just stupidity. Advice doesn't require you to project your own issues or experiences into something where it doesn't exist. Sounds like you're mad, like you got called out or something. Maybe you ought to practice a bit of what your trying to preach.

      Its not so much that the lie happened, but probably that Op doesn’t see how bad she fucked up. There is some cases where silence is better, and I would take that secret to the grave if I ever did something so monstrously fucked up as a child.

    • @puppiekit
      @puppiekit 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its honestly baffling to me that people are calling her a horrible sociopath over something she did when she was 7 - 8 years old. She wasn't even in the double digits dude. Everybody makes up BS likes like that as a child. The only reason it was taken seriously by anybody at all is because both siblings were working together; had it been one child lying about a twin, do you really think CPS would have appeared..???? CPS doesnt even do shit when kids go to school with black eyes.
      The real issue is that OP doesn't realize just how much it effected the people around them. And truthfully that in of itself doesn't make them a "cruel evil sociopath", it just makes them oblivious and kind of stupid. Just your typical Reddit automatically assuming everybody in the wrong ever is acting out of deliberate malicious intent.

  • @TeeAiDee
    @TeeAiDee 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Guess I'll be the unpopular one and say NTA for story 1. That family has major issues if a lie-- a PROVEN LIE-- somehow results in being excommunicated by the family. Like, seriously? They don't even have a third child, so why did the extended family feel the need to cut off all contact from a situation that was resolved with a simple and quick investigation? Also, how did the mom not know her kids were the ones responsible for that lie until years later? Obviously the lie started somewhere and it's unlikely that it started outside the house. And finally, we have no reason to believe that the "twin sister" who replied is actually OP's twin. It could have just as easily been someone else, making up a story to make the OP look bad.
    She was a kid when she made up that lie. Kids do stupid stuff. And I don't think she's an a-hole just because she wants to look back on the stupid things she did as a kid and laugh about it. Her family needs to get over themselves.

    The poster with the sister shes mad at for leaving is dramatic asf.
    She wants people to acknowledge her story but she doesnt want people to comment, speculate or give her advice, shes made out that her sister was a runaway & broke everyones hearts when all she did was move away to somewhere more suited to the lifestyle she wanted, shes mad at her for choosing herself then when shes told shes being unreasonable for being mad she starts lashing out like everyones just twisted her words.... if you dont want attention around your story or to be told some truths of how other people see it then dont post on reddit. Never seen anything more pointless, youre certainly in the wrong place if all you want is people to enable, pander & agree with tour irrational reaction.
