Sorry dude, coupes are everywhere.... I bought the convertible and I love it. I get stares and compliments everywhere I go. Even coupe owners say they wish they had gone with the rag top.Camaro owners always wave and beep when they go by. Great niche vehicle. It's a gift from my lovely recently passed away, wife. It's my 4 wheel therapy session. Rest In Peace my lovely Letty. Mahal Kita , Babe and thank you.
I think it depends what climate you live in. If I was in southern California, the convertible for sure. But here in Indy, between the rain/a little bit of snow , it either being too hot & HUMID or too cold I'd be lucky to get a month's worth of having the top down in a calendar year. That said, if handling & performance were equal, I would've gone with the ragtop to get THAT 30 or so days of being able to let the wind blow where I ONCE had hair.
@@terrencewhitten7946 the problem with convertibles is when you get over 60 miles per hour the air rushing into your ears can cause you to get tinnitus, ringing in your ears. It's not good for your ears.
Convertible. Both the coupe and convertible are very beautiful cars. But I would love to experience the open air! I've never had a convertible but I will get myself a convertible Camaro next year! And I have no issues paying the 7-8k premium to have the open sky above me! I'm 32 now and it's about time I get a top-down.
own a car that's convertible from the get go for no compromise. the miata and s2000 are the only drop tops I love and it has to do with it being made as a drop top from the get go.
I'd rather have the convertible honestly! I love my performance but I love a fun car all the more and nothing says "fun" like a fast cool-looking ride with the top down. I enjoy tearing up the road every now and then but I'm a family man and a convertible is perfect for me, my wife and son!
Actually he is totally wrong here. This car was designed to be a convertible from conception and does not require extra stiffening much like the Vette doesn't. The extra weight comes from the top mechanisms. On another note these old men 0-60 reviews are getting so old. Everything they talk about or at least 98% is subjective.
I've always loved convertibles. They are not about all out performance when compared to their fixed top alter egos. It's a totally different driving experience and they're not for everyone. Personally, I think it's an apples vs oranges comparison.
the convertible is a 6000 dollar option if you dont know.. i bought an SS convertible and i love it .. im only commenting because that same blue car in a chick fil a parking lot made me buy one..
The exhaust sound you get with the top down vs top up is so amazing. I test drove a 2017 V6 coupe and V6 convertible both with the performance exhaust and the convertible had the sound surrounding you vs the coupe it felt like it was more outside the car. The convertible was really fun. Both cars felt really quick and handled great. These were 10 minute test drives but this is what I noticed in the first 10 minutes. Both amazing cars however.
The way the top was wiggling and the wind noise sounded terrible inside the convertible. That was with the top up. 🙃🙃🙃 my friend has a couple and it's fairly nice.
@@gummybear41283 it's been a few years back. It was just a little too noisy for me. I just realized my comment says couple instead of coupe. But my friend had a coupe and it was okay. The convertible was just less secure sounding with the soft top. Which isn't a knock specific to the camaro. Most convertibles lose alot of rigidity and it makes them a little more loud and secure sounding and feeling on highways.
@@gummybear41283 there's nothing inherently wrong with it. If you plan on using the convertible top as much as possible it'll be great because when it's down you don't even think about the inconveniences it may have while it's up. You also have to factor in care for the top though. If not cleaned properly with convertible top cleaner it can stain over time and of course even further over time tops will need to be replaced. But if you just wanted a camaro and a little air time you can get a coupe with a sunroof and let in a little light that way
@@tylerharvey8299 I sat in a Camaro and felt kind of cramped and felt the roof line was really low, especially after I sat in the Dodge Charger, It was a lot more roomier and comfortable. So I dont know
Convertible. Cant' give me the coupe. Well, maybe, for free. BTW, the Camaro is way way more money than a similarly packed Mustang here in Canada. I'd go with the Mustang even though I prefer the Camaro.
for the same price as the convertible you can have the v8 so it really boils down to if you want to spend the money whats more fun a drop top or a v8... I think the v8 is gonna win more
shawn benfield well its just my opinion but I'll rather drive a convertible then a coup v8 its a neck breaker ,looks clean tbh just my opinion get more bitches lol
Can the top be dropped on the convertible remotely in a 6speed? I was told that only automatics had the remote top because of lack of autostart on the 6speeds. But in the beginning of the video, you used the remote to drop the top... Was the one an automatic?
Coupe of course. The coupe is lighter, faster, handles better, and cheaper. I would only get a convertible if it is designed from the ground up to be a convertible. i.e. Miata.
Love the review but you missed the main thing man. The Camaro has the worst blind spots ever and feels like a bat cave. The convertible totally fixes that. If you're 6.4" like me it's so much better. And the performance exhaust sounds way better with the open top vs the coupe with just the windows down. Some really big missed points. And the Camaro convertible is way better than the mustang convertible for many reasons
Just drove a new 2016 2SS this past weekend (My mother bought it). Has every single option available. It has a lot of nice things about it. Except that I don't physically fit. I am only 6ft 3in tall, but with the seat ALL the way down, my head is into the head liner. Meaning I could never drive it on a regular basis. That and I could never with with the poor visibility. The price for this convertible makes it a really poor value. That is WAY more than any competing convertible.
lies every person who drives the camaro says it ain't nothing wrong with visibility and a tall ass person trying to fit in a 2 door coupe what would you expect
+ervin bunche I just happen to own a 2dr coupe, and have 1.5" over my head to the head liner. Not sure why you assume I am lying, what reason do I have to lie? What I just stated are very common complaints against the Camaro.
A Mustang of course, it's cheaper, easier to live with and it looks better. If I was a Camaro guy though I would go with the Camaro SS A8 because it's batshit stupid fast.
the problem with convertibles is when you get over 60 miles per hour the air rushing into your ears can cause you to get tinnitus, ringing in your ears. It's not good for your ears.
Convertibles just aren't a very good idea, unless you're an older gentleman with a 20 something girl beside you that's only there for the money. Other than that, for the modern man, its a bad idea to have half of your car sliced and open for some birds to take a shit on you while you're trying not to rage at the bumper to bumper traffic we have nowadays.
If I could afford a Camaro Z 28 that’s the one I buy. I’ve never buy anything but the Z 28 if I want to Coralville yes I buy a V-8. I would not buy a section.
I live in upstate New York and I'm stuck deciding between these two cars. My heart wants a convertible, but we get 3.5 months of winter. But summer road trips with the top down are so much fun! Just not sure if it's worth the extra cash for the convertible :/
No way. The automatic has some really annoying slow shift times in manual mode. And in automatic, if you go to jump on it, it takes at least a full second for it to find a gear to down shift into. I think because its actually down shifting several gears. The manual is a MUCH better driving car. Unless you drive in traffic everyday, get a manual.
Convertibles are overrated imo. They are cool at times but the extra maintenance, costs, and risks make it not worth it for me. Plus, American women my age are only impressed by famous entertainers and super cars anyway, so no reason to get a convertible to try to impress them.

Not exactly. If that was the case then diesel cars would be the best performers and they are definitely not!
