no one hates the percy jackson movies more than rick riordan (the author of the books). he read the script and wrote them an email with his suggestions, which was ignored. he refused to watch them because honestly theres SO MUCH wrong with this movie i wouldnt know where to begin. BUT this year he announced that theyre adapting the books again as a tv show on disney+ starting with the lightning thief in season 1. hes going to be heavily involved in the script, casting, etc so we can look forward to that
He probably wasn't happy with a straight white male being the hero and the most powerful demigod character. He was very happy with a race swapped Annabeth in the Percy Jackson series. 1 yr later and they have the cast up and ready and they are filming, I didn’t enjoy the movies either, even though I’ve only the read the first two books there were so many differences and I didn’t enjoy how different they made it. I really hope this series goes well I have high hopes for it especially hearing that the author will have a big part in casting and script
I get why it reminded you of Harry Potter! Thats why they decided to take teen actor because in the book percy is like 11 or 12 and they didnt want to be even more similar To Harry! But the book are soooo good nothing like the movies
The Books are so much better! They changed so much in the movies, it’s like a completely different story. If you’re interested in the concept I’d definitely recommend reading the books.
Yeah, agreed. My friends and I have all read the books and watched at least the first movie, and we all said that the movie sucked. But Same as Suzie! I'd recommend reading the books.
@@ANGELINAA Apparantly, Rick Riordan, the author, was emailing them that he did not approve of the script and the movie company ignored him. You would not even recognize it as Percy Jackson if you did not read the name of the movie first.
King Triton and Percy Jackson are both sons of Poseidon (with different mothers), and Ariel is Tritons daughter, so that would make Percy Ariel’s half-uncle 🧜🏻♂️ Also Also, in Disney Hercules is Triton’s cousin, so he’d be Ariels second cousin.
Idk how well the movie explains the ~ Mist ~, but to answer your question in the description, I think Chiron manipulated the Mist to make Percy appear as the victim (which he was technically 😂) instead of a fugitive I highly recommend the books if you haven't read them! The movies don't do them justice at all 😔
@@ANGELINAA In the book, they use the concept that humans twist things in their head to make it fit into their reality. In the book a reporter did an interview with percy jackson and long story short made him the victim.

@@kavang2700 what went wrong with annabeth was that they didn't put annabeth in the first movie they just made the character clairice and gave her annabeths name
PERSPEHONE IN THE UNDERWORLD IN WINTER IS LITERALLY ILLOGICAL! I can't believe the screenwriter's didn't even get this basic mythological fact right, not even mentioning the books, they got so much of mythology wrong that it hurts
These movies leftout or changed things alot from books that are soo short. I love these books from Greek to Roman, Egyptian then Norse with Apollo's Quest hilariously mixing a bit of all.
The worst part about this movie is they didn't even say "the monsters reform in tartarus". They gave no explanation in the movie why greek monsters that died thousands of years are still walking around in modern times.
You: “I’ll give this movie...a 5...maybe” Me: I’m giving it a 1, there was literally no detail compared to the books. Okay 1st: Annabeth was supposed to have flickin’ BLONDE hair and GREY EYES 2nd: Percy needed to be CLAIMED, you can’t just go around telling people they’re sons of Poseidon 3rd: They’re supposed to be 12 YEARS OLD, not frickin’ 16 4th:They should’ve told how sally gets rid of Gabe. 5th: Percy had SEA GREEN EYES Okay I could go on and on and on, but I’m not gonna do that rn.
not to mention you know THE CLIMATIC ENDING. Rick purposely made the books to teach the readers that looks and half knowledge can be deceiving. Hades was not the big bad in the books, in fact his story was quite sad and even Percy felt sorry for how short end of the stick he got. Ares was the one that stole the bolt because hes the god of war and just wanted that "War", and Luke was much more suave and manipulative in the book that even us the readers were surprised he was the one pulling the strings.
@@ethansolorzano5989 Exactly. And on top of that, what makes Luke such a great villain was that he actually HAD a point and it was a good one, no matter how badly he went around trying to prove it. He was desperate and extraordinarily sympathetic and the movie literally just makes him into a pathetic, power-hungry guy. In all actuality, he's actually doing his best trying to protect and take care of the other half-bloods he sees as family while struggling with his relationship (or rather lack of) with the Gods they're supposed to be worshipping. He's supposed to be manipulative and suave, but partially because #1- he's charming, and #2- he's not actually lying about anything he tells them when discussing his points. Annabeth is also basically useless in the films when in the books she's basically the only one keeping Percy and Grover alive. Grover's character has been changed entirely and NOT for the better, mind you. No sign of Mr. D at all, and no sign of Clarisse, taking out two comedic reliefs and two of Percy's frenemies. The books also do a good job of subtly pointing things out from Percy's POV. In the movies, it's either not there entirely or it hits you in the face like a truck. Nothing is subtle and it's really disappointing. No Ares or mention of Kronos, either, which takes away the entire freaking plot of the series itself- I don't even think Luke MENTIONS Kronos at all, and then they shove him into the second movie as almost a second thought and it's terrible. Percy has 0 humor in the movies and either knows too much or too little. Percy in the books is 49% humor, 49% sarcasm, 1% self depreciation, and 1% dumbass- which makes him both hilarious and oddly intelligent even if he's kind of oblivious to a lot of things. In the books, he's a relatively good judge of character even after being thrust into an entirely new world, and he's also rather empathetic and kind, as we see when he talks with Grover about Thalia (who they cut out entirely in the first movie), and when we see him feeling bad for Hades- and we also see him sympathize greatly with Luke later on. To sum up my rant, the movies are TERRIBLE. The books are a masterpiece. The musical's also really good (and do a really good job of making Luke a VERY sympathetic character).
@@novascott1313 Also the fact that luke almost killed percy AFTER he returned the bolt The lack of nectar and ambrosia A. K. A. One of the main healing products Luke giving him a shield even tho he only gave him the shoes Percy being on the same side as Annabeth AND Luke in capture the flag The pearl being obtained under water by a voice and not on the dragon, Medusa, or the casino Cerberus and his destroyed ball The amusement park The fates Mrs. Dodds sisters Annabeths fear of spiders Only Zeus and Poseidon in the throne room The beach percy loved THE DAM BLUE FOOD!!! And I could go on for days not even being halfway done, so in conclusion the movies suck
Annabeth not having blonde hair isn't as bad as annabeth not having a character, her backstory erased, her goals erased, her yankees cap erased, even her inteligence erased. She just becomes the love interest to Percy which is crazy because Rick did a great job at giving her a character and personality and only having her and percy become a couple in the final book. They should not have been flirting and making love eyes in this movie when during this time percy and annabeth were 12 year old kids.
What's pissing me off the most is that Hades is literally portrayed as the devil in this completely nonexistent movie, when he's not even evil in real Greek mythology and PJO books. Compared to his brothers, he's a saint in the PJO books and in the Greek myths. Edit: Persephone is literally called Dread Persephone, and she's scarier than Hades (And she literally turned a nymph called Minthe into mint because Minthe wanted to sleep with Hades). it would make a little more sense if she was the one portrayed as the devil. And why on earth is Persephone in the underworld in JUNE??????? She's not supposed to be in the underworld in the summer; she's supposed to be with her mom, the goddess Demeter. And, Persephone loves Hades. Lastly, is Annabeth (in this movie) really a daughter of Athena? She's acting as if she's a daughter of Ares. So Athena would probably curse her daughter for being like that. And yes, the daughter of the goddess of wisdom and warfare thought that the best way to fight Peter Johnson is by fighting him one-by-one. Hmmm. I could list more problems with the nonexistent movie but I'd rather you figure them out. However, I dare say that there are some parts of the Peter Johnson movie where the special effects are kinda good, but I don't really care. Wait, what am I talking about again? There aren't any Percy Jackson movies, right??? Ah, I see, Peter Johnson movies.
Rick Riordan was given the script for the movie before it was filmed, From March 2009, notes to producers on the Lightning Thief movie script Hi XXXXX, Thank you for letting me look at the script. It’s very important for me that the movie does well. I also take my role seriously as an advocate for fans of the book, who have been pleading with me for four years, “Please don’t let them change the story!” In my view, the two go together. When I look at the children’s books that have been made into movies over the past few years, I see a direct correlation between how faithful an adaptation is and how well it does at the box office. I’m not sure the movie industry sees this connection, as they keep making the same mistakes over and over again, but it’s pretty clear to me and to the young readers I talk to every day. There are things I like about this adaptation. The beginning works well. The opening scenes do a good job getting into the story quickly and setting up the characters. The first part of the story has been made more economical, but it is still more or less faithful to the spirit of the book. The scene with the Minotaur is nicely crafted. I liked the Minotaur appearing out of the field of cows. The gate with words that rearrange themselves as “Camp Half-Blood” was a nice touch. Annabeth’s first appearance was good. I like how’s she been made a more physically challenging rival for Percy. The scene in Las Vegas is mostly good. I have a few suggestions on that, but they are easy changes. I like the entrance to the Underworld being at the Hollywood sign. The way Gabe is petrified at the end makes sense, and the idea of the heroes toting XXXX’s head across the country makes me chuckle. Having said that, here’s the bad news: The script as a whole is terrible. I don’t simply mean that it deviates from the book, though certainly, it does that to point of being almost unrecognizable as the same story. Fans of the books will be angry and disappointed. They will leave the theater in droves and generate horrible word of mouth. That is an absolute given if the script goes forward as it stands now. But the bigger problem is that even if you pretend the book doesn’t exist, this script doesn’t work as a story in its own right. The good news: It is eminently fixable. When I first read the script I’ll admit I was plunged into despair at just how bad it was. If I were intentionally trying to sabotage this project, I doubt I could have done a better job than this script. But as I began to make notes and look specifically at what was bothering me, I realized that the script could be made palatable to fans and the general movie-going audience without really changing its present scene structure, lengthening the script, or adding new sets that would increase the budget. I am choosing to take heart in your assurance that this script is not finished. That is one thing we can agree on: It needs help. So if you’re still with me, here are my specific thoughts and suggestions for a fix. My concerns fall into three basic categories: age appropriateness, structure, and writing. I’ll address these in general first, then follow with specific suggestions in page-by-page notes. Age-appropriate content: This is the easiest fix, but an important one. The Percy books are family-oriented. They are read primarily by children age 9-12. You will have (I hope) a large number of parents bringing their 9-12-year-old children to this movie, expecting to see something appropriate for that age range XXXXXXXX. As one of those parents, I would walk my kids right out of the cinema if the movie included some of the language and content presented in the script. In the page-by-page comments below, I’ve listed the words and scenes I’m concerned about. I don’t mind being a little subversive and pushing boundaries, but there is nothing radical, fresh, or interesting about biyotch, ass, or shit. It’s a lazy attempt to make the script seem hip to teens, but such language has been overused to the point that it doesn’t even rate a cheap laugh anymore. If you go this route, you lose the entire demographic of families with younger children. School groups, who otherwise would take field trips to see this movie, will stay away en masse. Neither do I believe you have to have cliché crude language and gutter humor to engage a teen audience if you have a script that is funny, fresh, and original. As it is, the script will offend the parents of younger children and alienate what should be its core audience while gaining nothing. I’m talking with fourth and fifth graders all the time about this upcoming movie. I would be horrified if I steered them into a movie with this kind of content. I wouldn’t see it. I wouldn’t let my kids see it. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else see it, and I certainly wouldn’t want my name associated with it. Please do not “sex up” my children’s story. If you take out all the lines I’ve flagged and put in something funnier and fresher but not blatantly crude, you will have a stronger script with a wider appeal. Structure: I have no problem with changes for the sake of streamlining. I also understand the need to limit the number of sets to stay within budget. The script does this well in many places. You’ve cut the Oracle at Delphi, Dionysus, the search for Pan, Clarisse - I could go on and on - but those changes don’t upset me because they don’t affect the story’s core. I’m not so understanding of adding scenes and plot lines that are completely foreign to the book and make the story read like an illogical hatchet job. The most prominent examples: Persephone’s pearls. A truly bad plot device. In the original, Percy must go across the country because he cannot fly, as Zeus would zap him out of the sky. He’s got a timer - the summer solstice. He’s got double motivation - find his mother, and find Hades, who supposedly has the lightning bolt. He’s got a goal: Los Angeles. This gives him plenty of reason to go to the Underworld without tagging on some superficial quest for pearls that don’t have any basis in Greek mythology. This is the point where the script takes a hard left turn into weird. The story ceases to be the Lightning Thief, and it will have fans squirming in their seats and demanding a refund. Nashville, the hydra, battle bugs. This entire scene is awful and completely alien to the story. I’m guessing it was added because the set is easier to make than, say, St. Louis Arch, or you’re thinking the hydra is more recognizable than the Chimera. Again, this is a place where you will lose the readers of the books in droves for no good reason, but I think it could easily be fixed. It could also be a place to insert Ares, as you mentioned you’re interested in that. I’ve given my ideas for this below in the page-by-page critique. Luke: In the original, Luke is a rival for Annabeth’s affections. He’s older, good-looking, col, and suave, with an important backstory. In the script, Luke has become a sniveling little slimeball. This a) takes away a great source of romantic tension, b) makes it much too obvious that Luke is the villain, c) destroys the series storyline, in which Luke becomes Percy’s archenemy and eventually morphs into Kronos, and d) makes the script ending anticlimactic. I don’t think it’s a bad idea to fight with Luke at the end (though I still think it’s not nearly as exciting as a fight with Ares). But if you fight with Luke, he should be an attractive, powerful enemy. Who wants to see our hero fight a little creep? Why is that exciting? Persephone: Talk about deus ex machina. She had no part in the original and has been added to patch up a storyline that no longer makes sense. The ending now, with Grover getting out of the Underworld off-stage, has no tension and no believability. I would strongly encourage you to restore the mystery of the original plot - Percy believes Hades has the lightning bolt, and he discovers along the way this cannot be true, which leads them to the realization that they’ve all been played by Ares. Again, I’ve put my specific suggestions below. Kronos: This is rather important if you want to preserve the possibility of a franchise, as Kronos is the master villain in the series. Having said that, I can see making a script that works with only a passing mention of Kronos, but at the very least, it should be Ares manipulating Luke, and there should be some question at the end of the book: Why would Ares do this? Was he working alone? This would at least leave some opening to introduce Kronos later. The fight with Ares: Honestly, this is the best, most cinematic scene in the book. It’s a crime to exclude it from the movie, and Ares is the best adult role in the story. You mentioned that the script is still being revised for logic and motivation, and I can understand why. The plot has been chopped up so thoroughly that it no longer holds together. As I said, I think this could be fixed without radically changing the scene structure that you’ve developed, but it would take better writing by someone who understands the story, which brings me to the last point: The Writing: The dialogue needs to sparkle. I’d like to see it be fresh and original and funny. Right now there are some good areas, but mostly it is flat, tired, and uninspired. It’s certainly not funny. I’m not expecting lines to be lifted from the book verbatim, but it would be nice if they resembled the source material at least in tone and spirit. One of the things that define Percy is his sense of humor. He doesn’t have one in the script. When XXXX first acquired the book, I was told one of the main selling points was the humor. Why then do we want to settle for a script that is completely devoid of the story’s trademark humor?
Nor have I read the book now have I seen the full first movie, but with all that I have heard about it and all that I've seen second hand, what Mister Riordan stated in the opening of the letter is exactly what happened D: from a marketing perspective many more people should mayyyybe take a look at it and learn about what is important: Target audience. Looking at you, Disney
The books are amazing. Not just the original series but also the follow up series when Riordan brings in the concept of the Greek gods switching to Roman gods.
Personally I love the movies since because of it I got interested in it and when I got the books I saw why people hated the movie especially the characters lol but I would think of them as different alternate universes really tho I adore the movies and I finished Percy Jackson book series and hero's of Olympus but I still need the cane chronicles 😅.... Love your vids lol❤
annabeth is blond and has gray eyes and was literally on his team in capture the flag, the girl who hates him is Clarisse, daughter of Ares IUREGTAUWREghoi\wghO;EWR THEY ALSO GOT THE PEARLS FROM LIKE MERMAIDS OR SMTHN FOR FREE HE WAS JUST GOING TO FIND HIS MOM AND THE BOLT also they just took the bolt to zeus there was no epic fight with the bolt involved AND ANNABETH DIDNT BECOME A REAL LOVE INTEREST UNTIL THE 4TH BOOK NOOOO
So many people hated the Percy Jackson movies not because they where bad movies, they aren’t actually that terrible, but instead because they are a gross representation of the books and had a dedicated fan base who took issue with that. Also there was great explanations for everything, which they didn’t really explain. Like the time limit of the summer solstice was because that’s when all the Gods had their annual meeting and Zeus couldn’t afford to look weak. That’s just one example. The supplementary material made it worse because it clearly showed the actors had zero knowledge or respect of the source material. When asked there thoughts on blue food for instance all they could give was confused laughs because what does that have to do with anything. Which is like asking if it mattered that Harry Potter had his mothers eyes. Or if it mattered that Katniss did the goodbye salute after she was recruited. Anyways sorry for the rant, and yes I could go on, but I should stop.

ALL casinos allow children in the building, just not near the gaming areas. This is because: They are also hotels and restaurants, some of the best and cheap foods are in the casinos. In fact, there is even a casino called Circus Circus that has floor shows with acrobats and motorcycle cages. It also has arcades and redemptions games. It is GEARED towards both the parent and child. The parents usually take turns watching the kids while the other goes and gambles.
Rick Riordan was always open about hating the movies. He came to my middle school in TX because he lived in the same city, and he even said he wasn’t looking forward to a movie. But he’s SUPER nice though.
12:50 I'm sure in this universe they actually did date. But in actual lore Poseidon right Medusa on the floor of Athena's Temple. And athena, being a bitch, curse Medusa because she got raped, she was too beautiful and it was her beauty that caused it. Goes to show that real life gods are complete dog shit piles of trash.
The thing is, the films have a STELLAR cast. All of the cast members are fantastic actors. The problem is, they are working with a script that doesn't do the books enough justice.
Bro they didn't have Anabeth have even the right hair color. Like wtf. It's like they took the concept, and the basic premise of the first book, and pretended it was an actual adaptation. Like, I understand that you have to change some things but seriously the musical did a 100× better job.
The books are actually good. But this movie is soooooooo bad. Like they have missed everything that is good and messed up everything. The casino scene is good in the book but not in teh movies

Yeah I’ve been starting reading the books and it is a lot different than the movies, also you forgot to see the scene where Percy mom ex boyfriend opens a fridge which has the Medusa head in there
Miss girl You shouldn't have watched the movie without reading the books because they live out details that you supposed to know if your u read the book. That's how it works, your confused half of the movie bc you didn't read it. That's wasn't the end of the movie because there's like 3 more movies, and it's clear you don't understand greek mythology. "Why would Luke want to be lead if he's so young?" "How did they know that he's percy jackson just by looking at him?" BECAUSE ITS COMMON SENSE IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY TO KNOW THESE THINGS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE CONFUSED BUT BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T READ THE BOOKS AND YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND GREEK MYTHOLOGY YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH CONTEXT so duhhh it doesn't make sense miss girl
Thing is, I also watched the movie before I read the books. And I actually kinda liked the movie. And then I read the books. The movies (or at least the first one) are ok on their own. Not the best, but they have their moments. But when compared to the books, this movie is awful. Not only are the characters not correct and the story completely changed and not in a good way, but the movie had less than half of the magic/mythological stuff that helped make them so good. A lot of exposition was also left out that would’ve helped the movie make sense.
Percy Jackson Movies never heard of them, thought they were called the Peter Johnson Movies. Must have read it wrong. (This is a lame attempt at being funny.)
Have you ever watched SpiderWick, The Last Mimzy, or Stardust? These movies have real life people and similar cgi magical vibes. They are movies of my childhood and I think they are SO UNDERATED❤
You should definitely read the books it explains so much. They messed up so much in the films but yet I’ve watched the movies a hundred times even tho there is SOOOO much wrong with them. The books are so good and I’ve read them over and over again throughout high school.
*I found this after seeing the Percy Jackson series teaser for D23 . And yes the books are way better. But the 2010 movie holds a special place in my heart cuz I worked Security for the Lotus Hotel car scene on The Strip (at **15:53**, I was just off cam, to the left doing crowd control). When the PA told me that the movie was based on a YA book series, I got the, then, 4 books off eBay, then researched the author and how he wrote the books for his Dyslexic, ADHD son. Which is why I hate when people call Percy a Harry Potter rip-off. But anyway, I REEEEALLY hope D+ does the books justice.*
As a very long time fan Personally I do not hate the movies, their production is pretty good in my opinion and the plot is alright- independant from the books. Like an alternate universe version but it can still not even begin to compare to the books ofc
You forgot to watch one more scene at the end where Percy mother packed up Gabe(I forgot his name) stuff and he see the refrigerator locked and he breaks the lock and opens it and it had Medusa head in it and he got turn to stone
believe me, these two movies are the Percy Jackson equivalent of the Last Airbender movie. It's genuinely that far off from the source material. Just one example: In the book this one is based on, Percy and Annabeth were 12. And Grover looked 12
Luke:literally could have lied to them because he didn't want them to get out. Percy: cuts the heads of a monster who exists in the cultural zeitgiest, you could know nothing about gods and know about the head growing back. Everyone is a huge fool in this movie.
The Percy Jackson movies are a disgrace to the books and the author Rick Riordan I beg of you please read the books and do a review on them they are so much better 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
As a Percy Jackson fan. I hate the movies because of how different they are from the books. I still watch them because the characters are hot 😶 but ya know. I totally recommend the books and honestly all of Rick ripped and books. They explain how their powers work and that stuff a lot better and it’s funnier as well. 100/10 recommend these books. Don’t judge Percy Jackson on the movies because that would be unfortunate

I get why it reminded you of Harry Potter! Thats why they decided to take teen actor because in the book percy is like 11 or 12 and they didnt want to be even more similar To Harry! But the book are soooo good nothing like the movies
PERCY'S 11 OR 12 IN THE BOOK!? wild..
12
If they were 12 we wouldn't get the GORGEOUS Alexandria Daddario to look at. :)
It has the same director as the first few Harry Potter movies, too.

The Books are so much better! They changed so much in the movies, it’s like a completely different story. If you’re interested in the concept I’d definitely recommend reading the books.
I've heard the books are wildly different too! :) I have the series at home too - I shall check it out!
Yeah, agreed. My friends and I have all read the books and watched at least the first movie, and we all said that the movie sucked. But Same as Suzie! I'd recommend reading the books.
I KNOW RIGHT
@@ANGELINAA Apparantly, Rick Riordan, the author, was emailing them that he did not approve of the script and the movie company ignored him. You would not even recognize it as Percy Jackson if you did not read the name of the movie first.

If Percy is Poseidon’s son, would that make him Ariel’s uncle?
LMAOOOO. my life is now complete
Actually ariel’s brother
King Triton and Percy Jackson are both sons of Poseidon (with different mothers), and Ariel is Tritons daughter, so that would make Percy Ariel’s half-uncle 🧜🏻♂️
Also Also, in Disney Hercules is Triton’s cousin, so he’d be Ariels second cousin.

@@RandomPerson-vl4wl ok but its true lol... in the myth hercules and triton are cousins so disney ariel would actually have herc as a second cousin
Idk how well the movie explains the ~ Mist ~, but to answer your question in the description, I think Chiron manipulated the Mist to make Percy appear as the victim (which he was technically 😂) instead of a fugitive
I highly recommend the books if you haven't read them! The movies don't do them justice at all 😔
oOoo - im going to have to give these book a try when i get a try!
@@ANGELINAA In the book, they use the concept that humans twist things in their head to make it fit into their reality. In the book a reporter did an interview with percy jackson and long story short made him the victim.
The series made the Mist into a spray you can apply HAHAHAHA

The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
These movies leftout or changed things alot from books that are soo short. I love these books from Greek to Roman, Egyptian then Norse with Apollo's Quest hilariously mixing a bit of all.
Hope they'll add other big pantheons as well, like Japanese, Chinese, and Celtic.
I'm the book you can feel the chemistry between Annabeth and Percy!! You have to read them
Tye books are so much better and they portrayal of anabeth and grover in the movie was terrible
The worst part about this movie is they didn't even say "the monsters reform in tartarus". They gave no explanation in the movie why greek monsters that died thousands of years are still walking around in modern times.
You: “I’ll give this movie...a 5...maybe”
Me: I’m giving it a 1, there was literally no detail compared to the books.
Okay 1st: Annabeth was supposed to have flickin’ BLONDE hair and GREY EYES
2nd: Percy needed to be CLAIMED, you can’t just go around telling people they’re sons of Poseidon
3rd: They’re supposed to be 12 YEARS OLD, not frickin’ 16
4th:They should’ve told how sally gets rid of Gabe.
5th: Percy had SEA GREEN EYES
Okay I could go on and on and on, but I’m not gonna do that rn.
not to mention you know THE CLIMATIC ENDING.
@@novascott1313 Also the fact that luke almost killed percy AFTER he returned the bolt
The lack of nectar and ambrosia A. K. A. One of the main healing products
Luke giving him a shield even tho he only gave him the shoes
Percy being on the same side as Annabeth AND Luke in capture the flag
The pearl being obtained under water by a voice and not on the dragon, Medusa, or the casino
Cerberus and his destroyed ball
The amusement park
The fates
Mrs. Dodds sisters
Annabeths fear of spiders
Only Zeus and Poseidon in the throne room
The beach percy loved
THE DAM BLUE FOOD!!!
EXACTLY YALL
Ikr! The part when mrs Dodds turned into that thing I FREAKED out
YOU DIDN'T READ THE BOOKS?!
I KNOW im a disgrace...
Watching a non book reader react to the movie really emphasizes how nonsensical these movies are.
I think that the author of the books said something along the lines of "If you want this movie to fail, you're doing a great job"
this movie is completely different from the book
Percy Jackson movies don't exist
The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
Rick Riordan was given the script for the movie before it was filmed,
From March 2009, notes to producers on the Lightning Thief movie script
Hi XXXXX,
Thank you for letting me look at the script.
Age-appropriate content:
This is the easiest fix, but an important one.
Structure:
I have no problem with changes for the sake of streamlining.
The most prominent examples:
Persephone’s pearls.
As I said, I think this could be fixed without radically changing the scene structure that you’ve developed, but it would take better writing by someone who understands the story, which brings me to the last point:
The Writing:
The dialogue needs to sparkle.
The way this man caught my attention and had me hooked on this revision letter
The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
"Why do they look exactly the same?"
Me: Exactly! That's what I said!
Oh Gods, this movie was just a really bad hallucination. Doesn't exist.
It unfortunately does exist
The books are amazing. Not just the original series but also the follow up series when Riordan brings in the concept of the Greek gods switching to Roman gods.

No not "high school" they're supposed to be 12
still can't believe they were supposed to be 12 in the books !
Love your vids lol❤
annabeth is blond and has gray eyes and was literally on his team in capture the flag, the girl who hates him is Clarisse, daughter of Ares IUREGTAUWREghoi\wghO;EWR
THEY ALSO GOT THE PEARLS FROM LIKE MERMAIDS OR SMTHN FOR FREE HE WAS JUST GOING TO FIND HIS MOM AND THE BOLT
also they just took the bolt to zeus there was no epic fight with the bolt involved
AND ANNABETH DIDNT BECOME A REAL LOVE INTEREST UNTIL THE 4TH BOOK NOOOO
also in the books percy fights Ares not luke, because Ares knew luke stole the bolt but wanted a war among the gods

The thing is, the films have a STELLAR cast. All of the cast members are fantastic actors. The problem is, they are working with a script that doesn't do the books enough justice.
They only same thing with the movie and the books are the names, the plot, appeareance, etc, they invented everything -_-
that's annoying - i feel like there are only a few book to movie adaptations that ACTUALLY did well ...
Bro they didn't have Anabeth have even the right hair color. Like wtf. It's like they took the concept, and the basic premise of the first book, and pretended it was an actual adaptation. Like, I understand that you have to change some things but seriously the musical did a 100× better job.

I love how everyone is being vague about it like every single detail in the movie is either wrong, or just under develped
Percy Jackson is the Son of Poseidon
His name was cleared in the books after he defeats Ares. The police think that it was Ares the whole time who kidnapped Percy AnnaBeth and Grover
I remember waiting for my mom in the tv section watching the movie in parts each time she went shopping
The books are actually sooooo much better. The movie ruins it. I read the books first and the movies were a letdown
Percy Jackson Movies never heard of them, thought they were called the Peter Johnson Movies. Must have read it wrong. (This is a lame attempt at being funny.)
I watched this first, thought it was pretty fine, then happened to read the movie and thougjt it was pretty good.
As a Percy Jackson fan i despise this movie with all of my heart, but i still cant resist watching this video
She turned into a fury
Have you ever watched SpiderWick, The Last Mimzy, or Stardust? These movies have real life people and similar cgi magical vibes. They are movies of my childhood and I think they are SO UNDERATED❤
You should definitely read the books it explains so much. They messed up so much in the films but yet I’ve watched the movies a hundred times even tho there is SOOOO much wrong with them. The books are so good and I’ve read them over and over again throughout high school.
The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
I kind of remember having the same reaction but I liked it, like the first Mortal Kombat movies, trainwreck in a lot of ways but still fun.
I used to tolerate this movie. It was a solid 6/10 before I read the books. Now it’s a solid 2.5/10
The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
15:18 me: no there supposed to be 12❤
Can you do a reaction to Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Sea of Monsters!!!!
The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
The author hates the movies more than us book fans do.
As per usual, the books are streets ahead! Great video tho 👍👌
Was that a community reference??
As a very long time fan Personally I do not hate the movies, their production is pretty good in my opinion and the plot is alright- independant from the books. Like an alternate universe version but it can still not even begin to compare to the books ofc
Monsters know because demigods have a certain smell depending on their parent depends on how potent the smell is
Oh don’t worry, we all hate the movies
No, i dont
No, I love the moovie
Bruh the book was so much better
The books are ok
@@stopy_chip4406 what in the fake fan
Ares was supppse to be there. Kinda disappointed that they didn't include him.
Dam you havent read they you really should *wink wink* only a few under stand the joke here
Luke:literally could have lied to them because he didn't want them to get out. Percy: cuts the heads of a monster who exists in the cultural zeitgiest, you could know nothing about gods and know about the head growing back. Everyone is a huge fool in this movie.
I searched this bc were reading this in class we just finished Ch 6 ! And idrc if it skipes ahead and I just watch it bc ur entertaining
The movie is watchable if you've never read the books. It also doesn't ruin the books because they are not even remotely the same.
If you read the books, you'll see that Gabe asked Percy to not get a scratch on the car.
The Percy Jackson movies are a disgrace to the books and the author Rick Riordan I beg of you please read the books and do a review on them they are so much better 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
And no one who has read the books likes the movie
i love the books but also love the movies as a separate franchise.
The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
This movie is a shame to all the Percy Jackson fans and -1 out of 10
in the books, the ROMAN demigods are in san francisco. right next to TITAN territory.
wait til u find out that there are characters that sacrifice teddybears to the gods.
The book series helped me get away from all of the drama and expectation in the world and in society. I hope that the TV series does the same for me.
I hate the "I used to date your daddy" comment so much 😡
