The church fight scene will go down in history as one of the most well-shot, well-choreographed and absolutely batshit INSANE fight scenes in movie history. Kingsman should be remembered as a modern classic!
Yeah. There are so many action sequences of this type, but none were as impressive as the scenes in this film. Until Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was made.
I remember when the film came out I saw part of an interview with Colin Firth saying he wanted to do as much as possible including the church scene because he thought people wouldn’t expect it from him
Oh I meant to say non-British audiences always miss that Michael Caine's snobby character is actually a "commoner" and he switches to his natural cockney accent as he's dying. It's such a witty touch that makes him even more despicable. Another film you'll initially hate him in is Zulu. It's an incredible film and has influenced so many directors, most notably Ridley Scott who used the Zulu war chant for the Germanic tribe at the beginning of Gladiator.
Ohhh that's so true, I completely missed that!! See, that makes his reluctance towards Eggsy even worse!! We're adding Zulu to our list then, we trust your recommendations!! Thank you for always having such lovely energy in the comments, we both appreciate you!
Good point. When I watched Kingsman: The Secret Service with my British friends, they drew my attention to it) When it comes to Michael Caine's snobby characters, I always remember funny mini-dialogue: - You British don’t have a monopoly on snobbery, you know. - Well, not a monopoly. More of a controlling interest.
I love this movie because it shows just because someone is born poor or in the working class doesn't mean they can't do just as good as someone born with a silver spoon in hand
You're absolutely right. The evolution of the consciousness and spirit of humanity allows it to get rid of the prejudices of dividing its attitude towards a person depending on class, gender, age, social status etc. and appreciate the best qualities of a person as such)
And they’re born with inherent exceptional combat abilities and related to someone who was part of a secret spy agency so they get to tryout in the first place 😅 I guess it’s a good “metaphor” but I think nepotism had a little bit more to do with it than him being a working class hero.
I was on a night flight when I saw this one the first time. Most passengers were sleeping, and this scene literally made me laugh out loud, waking my “neighbours”. 😂
The way they reveal the villain's plan is so well done. They keep us in the dark, only hinting at stuff here and there, and then they show us in the church scene, without any exposition.
For my money, the church scene is most of what makes this movie so damn good. The camera work the choreography, the music, Harry's resourcefulness in using anything reasonable within reach as a weapon. Every thing about it just makes for a brilliantly fluid sequence that you can't quite find in many other movies. Also, the whole thing of showing that birth circumstances and 'breeding' aren't what's important in achieving great things or even 'just' being a gentleman, or whatever you see as the equivalent. Manners Maketh Man says so much.
The Dog Test isn't fair, you're right, but neither is life. An Agent may be tasked with killing someone who they later find out is someone they know, and are emotionally attached to. The Agency needs to know they're capable of killing, regardless of emotion. However, the Agent needs to know the Agency wouldn't ask them to kill an innocent target, they need to trust the Agency, so it was a blank.
Amazing movie. Freebird is used in so many scenes, movies and clips out there. For me the use in this one - and the one in "The Devil's Rejects" are the best ones. Stellar cast here. And Colin Firth really can do it all: Drama, comedy and action. It's just great fun with so many creative moments. Those puppy eyes though when the pug faced the gun...who could pull the trigger. There's no way....Eggsy did right turning the gun to Arthur.
I love the part in the church when the grenade goes off near Harry', he has a brief respite from the mind control effects due to him being shellshocked momentarily, and you can see him sane for only a short time in his eyes before the effects hit him again. If only very briefly.
'Shaken, not stirred..' Put the martini into a shaker with ice and mix it together. I always liked that, it meant JB could sit and drink watered down drinks all evening long, keep his head, and look cool doing it.
Oh Denise I love you so much!!! Of course you know who the true Mr Darcy is🙌🏻❤️😂 This series of films is awesome. Golden Circle got a lot of flack that it really didn't deserve. I love them all❤ BTW London is lovely. Don't believe the US press propaganda
Omg omg omg YESSS, someone who gets me 😭❤️ We had such a blast with this movie and we're super excited for the next ones! Also no we can guarantee it was a joke haha. I (Denise) lived in London for 3 years and it's actually one of my favorite cities in the world and I have nothing but great things to say!! Now I just gotta take Ari there haha
Best little moment in the church fight is when the explosive goes off, Harry comes to his senses briefly as the blast was louder than the signal produced by the sim cards. Then he's right back in the chaos.
Probably my favourite Matthew Vaughan film. Charismatic cast, stylish action scenes, awesome villain with interesting motivation. All in all, great love letter to old fashioned James Bond movies 😊
The test with the dog wasn't to see if he would blindly follow orders or shut off his humanity. It was a trust exercise. All the previous tests were revealed to not be as dangerous as recruits were led to believe, meaning the Kings men are stern, but not ruthless. Eggsy didn't pick up on that, but Roxy did, which is why she fired the gun. She trusted that the Kings men would never force her to harm the dog.
theres something most dont catch, during the church scene you can see everyone filled with rage, doing anything and everything to inflict harm with an angry expression, arthur is stone faced and acting as if hes just completing a mission, it just goes to show how well trained and experienced he is, he doesnt let anger or pressure get the better of him.
Matthew Vaughn ,my fav director, directs this movie. I want you to react to Layer Cake which is my favorite Vaughn’s movie and also make Daniel Craig be James Bond❤❤❤
This is THE BEST action film of all time!! 9 out of 10 (9 because nothing has any right being perfect! ✨🤣✨) I don’t care what Colin Firth is in, he is amazing!! Yes, he was taught the action sequences in the church. Sofia Boutella was taught a different form of martial arts for this film and she killed it! Taron was so built it was distracting. I didn’t know if my tongue was hanging out the whole film or not, but my cheeks still hurt from smiling! I can’t give this film enough praise. I can’t believe y’all haven’t seen this and I’m glad you hadn’t. This way I got to share in your reactions! (Chef’s Kiss!)
The director Matthew Vaughn also did Kick-Ass and Xmen first class before this one so he was definitely in a purple patch as a director during that period. He's also been a producer on a number of good Taron Egerton movies too so they seem to be building a nice relationship there. I like Taron Egerton as an actor. Maybe it's just me but i feel he is underrated or doesn't get the appreciation he deserves but alot of movies he's in are enjoyable and he's done well in imo
This movie is of course funny badass and awesome, but i love the breaks it takes to be serious and develop characters with the good dialogue. It manages to juggle so much so well which is why i adore it
Such a great movie. And _profoundly_ British, not just because of the cast, co-writers, director and obvious riffing on James Bond but because class is right at the centre of it (always tickles me watching US reactors because you often ask "What's that supposed to mean ?" when Caine makes his "Not one of us" comment - here in the UK _everyone_ knows _exactly_ what that means :). (the "exploding heads" sequence is probably riffing on the Last Night of the Proms BTW, the finale of a summer classical music celebration we have every year. The audience joins in to sing Elgar's "Land of Hope and Glory", lots of people bring flags etc. - i'd say it's one of the few times we come close to US style "overt patriotism" - and though the concert itself is in the Royal Albert Hall, outdoor screenings sometimes have fireworks timed to the music which, if you squint a bit, especially through a lens of _jet black_ humour, _could_ be multi-coloured exploding heads :)
one of the skills they mention eggsy had early is olympic level gymnist. the parkour is almost expected after that. also his step dad is a mid level organized crime guy the other guys aren't friends, they're his gang.
Hey guys! I absolutely loved your reaction and review on this movie. You did an amazing job capturing the essence of it! I’d love to see you react to more Indian movies-there’s such a vast variety of films here, from heartwarming stories to action-packed thrillers and stunning visuals. I’m sure there are so many movies you’d really enjoy watching and reviewing. Keep up the great work, and looking forward to your next reaction video!
Taron, the actor who played Eggsy, recently starred in a Netflix movie called Carry On. Now i don't necessarily recommend it for the channel or patreon, but i thought it was a pretty decent watch. It's also is kind off a Christmas movie😂
"Manners...maketh....man. Do you know what that means? Then let me me teach you a lesson. ARE WE GOING TO STAND AROUND HERE ALL DAY, OR ARE WE GOING TO FIGHT?" - Harry Hart/Gallahad
I'm surprised how often I'm going about my life and randomly think of a movie, and the first thought that pops in my head is "Oh, I'd love to see Ari and Denise react to that."
This movie, totally blind, what an excellent flick. This is one of the best movies of the last 20 years in my opinion. The church scene is worth the price of admission alone.
the way they do long takes is actually with just a hidden cut by making someone/something be right at the front of the camera, it's a simple technique but they did it so well with this and the sequel
Excited to watch this reaction, love this movie. Matthew Vaughn is very underrated director, especially his comic book movies such as X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass and this. PS: Taron Egertons last name is pronounced Edgerton. Also as much as I love this movie and am happy y'all are watching, I'm desperately waiting for Gremlins 2 reaction. It's my favourite movie ever 😊
I absolutely loved First Class when I watched it, when I saw it was the same director I got extremely excited to see what he was up to with this. This film was so much fun, the jokes landed and the action was superb. Gremlins 2 will most likely come to the channel early 2025 ❤️
This movie is so much fun!! One of my fave Sam L roles, especially with that lisp 😂😂 That church scene is epic and my fave but I do also love all of the 3rd act including the song choice for the villain party! I feel like I would be that kind of baddie, just doing my evil plot with the disco vibes 😂😂 Can't wait for you guys to see the other 2 they're awesome! 👍 If you guys want another awesome Sam L role, you have to watch Hitman's Bodyguard where he teams up with Ryan Reynolds! That's a fun time too 😂😂 Keep up the great content Ari and Denise! You two are cool! Thumbs up from London 🇬🇧 👍😎🔥💯
I saw this movie in Theaters by chance on a date not even knowing this movie existed ( think we were going to see something else and we missed it)and I was hooked from the start
This movie never gets old the fight scenes are top notch. The cast is incredible the second one is good the prequel is ok. The church scene is my favorite scene all the close quarters and ingenuity of weapons are awesome. I bet the penguin is jealous of the umbrellas 😂
You guys has the best reactions when it comes to movies. Top 1 for me. Hopefully your channel grow massively! God bless you guys. Im a fan from the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤
Colin Firth did most of his stunts himself. it was a point of *pride* for him and a dream to star in an action movie (and beat the *prejudice* of typecasting - ok, ok, point made I think :D) so yes, none of us knew he could do that. I don't think even he knew. but he did it and I cannot love him more. he used to be Mr Darcy but now, as Harry, he is even hotter ^^ do the next one! you will like it too - it is amazing as well! also, lots of familiar faces in that one too - the Kingsman movies are full of A-list actors ^^ (if you do early access to that one, I'd love to sign up for Patreon / join whatever you want me to join :D)
Best part about kingsman is that scene when room is filled with water, it went wrong and they were actually in danger of drowning - Just put it in the movie, realistic.
This movie was so much better than it had any right to be, and is one of those movies that only comes along once in a blue moon, and makes you ask why all movies aren't this good? Which is most certainly proven by the sequel, as I watched that movie once, with zero desire to ever watch it again, while this movie I've lost count of how nay times I have re-watched so many of its best scenes.
JB was adorable haha Loved that this movie doesn’t take itself seriously but then absolutely kills it when it comes to the action. Such a refreshing take ❤️
Hey guys! Speaking of Sofia Boutella, have you guys seen "The Mummy" from 2017? It's the Tom Cruise vehicle with Universal Pictures/Dark Universe. It's a lot of fun! You should see her, Tom, Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis, and Russell Crowe in that flick!
Banger reaction! The "Kingsmen" series is a blast, to say the least! I'll never look at British tailor shops the same way again! If you like how Colin Firth handles a gun in this one, wait 'til you see how Pedro Pascal handles a whip in "The Golden Circle!" Hopefully, you'll also review "The King's Man," which is the origin story! "Manners Maketh Man," indeed! 🤓 You should also react to the "Sing" movies, which costar Taron Egerton. His performance of "I'm Still Standing" in the first was so good that it made Sir Elton John choose him to play him in "Rocketman," which you should also react to! 😎
Manners Maketh Man. Harry was an absolute boss! What dog would you guys choose as your companion? And also...would you have the guts to get rid of him when the time comes? Let us know! I got two shepherd mixes & a pit dane that I would choose everytime
Glad you got round to watching this, definitely worth watching! If get the chance, check out the sequel
the 2nd movie kingsman the golden circle is worth a watch but avoid the 3rd at all cost
The church fight scene will go down in history as one of the most well-shot, well-choreographed and absolutely batshit INSANE fight scenes in movie history. Kingsman should be remembered as a modern classic!
Omg…that scene! Haha I had to immediately watch that scene again right after we were done. So damn epic!
can't listen to that song without thinking of this movie
and the final combatant who murdered and outlasted everyone along with the Agent?.......THE PREACHER! lol
I remember when the movie came out, that they shot that scene for a week.
Yeah. There are so many action sequences of this type, but none were as impressive as the scenes in this film. Until Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was made.
I'm a middle school teacher and i stuck a poster saying manners maketh man in my class after watching this movie... Best quote
Haha best teacher ever!! That was an awesome move on your part!
Fun fact: the code Eggsy types in to enter the room at the end spells A-N-A-L 😂
Ahahahah of course it does 😂
I came here to comment this and you beat me! Lol!
If you thought Colin Firth couldn't get any more badass, you should know the man did his own stunts.
Holy cow that is nuts!!! We LOVE that he did his own stunts!!
I remember when the film came out I saw part of an interview with Colin Firth saying he wanted to do as much as possible including the church scene because he thought people wouldn’t expect it from him

I went straight to the church scene 😅
Hahaha oh cmon! Let it build up 😂 we get it though, that scene was freaking insane
@ Don't worry, now I'm watching from the beginning. I wouldn't miss the complete reaction
Thank you, we appreciate you❤️
I love this movie because it reaches the right balance between being a genuinely awesome spy flick and not taking itself too seriously.
Yes and yes, the balance they found with this! Absolutely adored this movie!
I love this movie because it shows just because someone is born poor or in the working class doesn't mean they can't do just as good as someone born with a silver spoon in hand
YESSS!! Given the opportunity, Eggsy excels and it's so important to show that you can do it, regardless of your background!
*just as well

Way too deep😂. It’s a silly comedy/action film. Get your deep life lessons from maybe something a bit more serious
Whoever thought "We'll explode a lot of heads in the most colorful of ways along with graduation music" is a goddamn genius
Hahaha seriously though, what an iconic move!
you mean "land of hope and glory"? graduation song??

For my money, the church scene is most of what makes this movie so damn good. The camera work the choreography, the music, Harry's resourcefulness in using anything reasonable within reach as a weapon. Every thing about it just makes for a brilliantly fluid sequence that you can't quite find in many other movies.
Also, the whole thing of showing that birth circumstances and 'breeding' aren't what's important in achieving great things or even 'just' being a gentleman, or whatever you see as the equivalent. Manners Maketh Man says so much.

I spit my drink out laughing when he threw up on himself the first time I saw this lmao.

The guy who plays as Lancelot, I actually recognize his voice Jack Davenport he was in Pirates of the Caribbean
I love the part in the church when the grenade goes off near Harry', he has a brief respite from the mind control effects due to him being shellshocked momentarily, and you can see him sane for only a short time in his eyes before the effects hit him again. If only very briefly.
Geoff Bell, known for portraying antagonistic characters such as Dean, is in reality a very kind individual.
He played a right arsehole in "The Business"!

Yes for sure, it's fantastic how they've managed to retain the fluidity and continuity whilst hiding the cuts!
09:17 so much so the man is now Galactus 😂
I demand they keep making these movies. They are WAY too much fun
fights on that church is one of the
most absurd-weird-horrific-bloodiest fights i've ever seen on a movie😂
From the great Scottish comic author mark millar. Kingsman, kickass, wanted.
One of my fave Sam L roles, especially with that lisp 😂😂
That church scene is epic and my fave but I do also love all of the 3rd act including the song choice for the villain party! I feel like I would be that kind of baddie, just doing my evil plot with the disco vibes 😂😂
Can't wait for you guys to see the other 2 they're awesome! 👍
If you guys want another awesome Sam L role, you have to watch Hitman's Bodyguard where he teams up with Ryan Reynolds! That's a fun time too 😂😂
Keep up the great content Ari and Denise!
This is so kind of you, thank you so so much!! Much love to the Philippines!❤️❤️
The church scene is iconic, just like "Free bird".
I love this movie and you guys so much 💗
Omg thank youuu, it means the world to us!! Much love to you❤️❤️
Colin Firth did most of his stunts himself. it was a point of *pride* for him and a dream to star in an action movie (and beat the *prejudice* of typecasting - ok, ok, point made I think :D)
so yes, none of us knew he could do that. I don't think even he knew. but he did it and I cannot love him more. he used to be Mr Darcy but now, as Harry, he is even hotter ^^
do the next one! you will like it too - it is amazing as well! also, lots of familiar faces in that one too - the Kingsman movies are full of A-list actors ^^ (if you do early access to that one, I'd love to sign up for Patreon / join whatever you want me to join :D)
One of my favorrite movies of all time!
Awesome movie. So glad you guys got around to this franchise.
Love this movie for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which, introducing me to Sofia Boutella. ❤
Tarron Egerton is great. He's excellent and competely different in Eddie The Eagle, and Rocketman.
This was the movie that made me a fan of Mark Strong, such a quiet bad-ass.
Britain's answer to Stanley Tucci.
This was such a great movie. I love spy movies and this movie was better than I thought it was after I watched it.
Best part about kingsman is that scene when room is filled with water, it went wrong and they were actually in danger of drowning - Just put it in the movie, realistic.
I like the 007 vibes in this movie! I enjoyed so much when I saw for the first time! Great reaction as always! 😊
"Yes please".
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This movie was so much better than it had any right to be, and is one of those movies that only comes along once in a blue moon, and makes you ask why all movies aren't this good? Which is most certainly proven by the sequel, as I watched that movie once, with zero desire to ever watch it again, while this movie I've lost count of how nay times I have re-watched so many of its best scenes.
Stellar cast, action packed and best of all it doesn't take itself seriously. Such a fun movie. JB FUR-EVER! ❤❤❤❤❤
This is basically James Bond but rated R and i'm all for it 😂 Hopefully you cover the other two!
And we loved the tone! Excited to check out what’s to come 😃
Banger reaction! 🤓
You should also react to the "Sing" movies, which costar Taron Egerton. His performance of "I'm Still Standing" in the first was so good that it made Sir Elton John choose him to play him in "Rocketman," which you should also react to! 😎
The pug was the best part in this movie :)
this is another one of those franchises that have sequels that are at least as good as the original
Great movie! LEEEEETS GOOO! 💪😎💪
The church fight is one of the best ever!
I would have been eggsy and picked the pug thinking it’s a bulldog too 😂
