It's really nice to see someone else reading Percy Jackson for the first time who's like older than the target audience. It always felt like I missed out on it as a child but I love it as a teenager lol❤️💃💃
Rick Riordan was a middle school teacher for years upon years and he said that oftentimes the actions of his young characters are based on real students he had when he was a teacher which is why his depiction of children/young people are so authentic
also many of the characters were based/named after real people in his class (honorary mention to his son for inspiring Percy) like nico, beckendorf,Miranda, etc
I just randomly start thinking about Nico going into McDonald’s on his own to buy a happy meal, to give to spirits of the dead, and boy does it crack me up.
i'm so glad you loved this!!! the origin of percy jackson was from when rick riordan ran out of bedtime stories to tell his son haley. he made up percy jackson as a demigod with adhd, because his son also had it, to show him that it doesn't stop anyone from doing so many things!! it's quite sweet and wholesome

Im way too late to this video but yeah, when you said the writing was easily accessible to everybody towards the end you were so right. OMG KING I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEOOO! Also, happy pride, from a fellow bisexual person! Percy Jackson is honestly, my comfort book series. I love you so much, please keep up the great work, you are such a major source of comfort to me.
APHRODITE?? You’re too kind!! 🥺
Thank you so much for your compliments though!! I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the riordanverse!
@@fictionalfates I'm excited to read them too! This summer I'd like to get through the Heroes of Olympus and the Magnus Chase series, but at this point my TBR is so outta control idk when I'd get to all the books.
I'm so glad to find someone else who discovered (or rediscovered) the series as an adult! I've been meaning to read it since I was 13, but didn't get to it until last month at the age of 21 and I'm so glad I started reading it because I literally have not been able to put the series down. In just a month I read the 5 Percy Jackson books and all 5 of the Heroes of Olympus books and I just started reading the Trials of Apollo series.
As someone who likes reading but has always been a really slow reader and has been in a reading slump for a long time (prior to these books I hadn't read a book from start to finish in 3 years) I'm so glad I found the series because it helped me rebuild the old reading habits I had in high school.
"Nico Di Angelo supremacy, and he is now my child." OMG LOLLLL Yes Neeks is just....perfection. And also my half brother UwU *me being a hades kid just loving this* HOW HAVE I ONLY JUST SEEN THIS THOUGH-?! OMG-~SALLY JACKSON~ BUT THE CROSSOVERS THAT COME IN LATER ON. ALSO-as a half blood who's been a fan of these books for a while and as a child of the ~big three~ I'd like to welcome you to camp half blood where we climb lava walls for fun! :))) It's great. Pfft. Hope you don't get too stuck in the books though cuz once you do there's no going back,
I read the first two books with my language arts( I think it was language arts) class when I was in middle school, now I’m finally going to finish the series hopefully.
Yes!! This is what I needed on my Friday. Loved this video
OMAYGHOODD I JUST FINISHED READING THE WHOLE SERIES AND WENT TO TH-cam AND YOUR VIDEO POPPED UP!!!! YYAASSSSS ! THIS MUST BE PART OF OUR PROPHECY!!!!!!
Hello from CA! I knew that Percy Jackson was coming to Disney+ but you've inspired me to read it very very soon. I really enjoyed seeing your reaction since I'm also older than the target audience. Thanks! Sending lots of love to you and your family in the UK :)
this was iconic ✨💙🥲 Nico is a GEM 💎
OMG I LOVED WATCHING YOUR REACTIONS SM!! i LOVE pjo so much it's honestly SO GOOD!
BESTIE THIS IS THE ORDER YOU SHOULD READ THE SERIES:
- Percy Jackson (obviously lol)
- Heroes of Olympus
- Trials of Apollo
- Magnus Chase
- Kane Chronicles
also FYI Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo are what we call the 'Camp Half-Blood Chronicles' because they're all (mostly) Greek mythology
hope this helped bestie :)
