Rick Riordan was a middle school teacher for years upon years and he said that oftentimes the actions of his young characters are based on real students he had when he was a teacher which is why his depiction of children/young people are so authentic
also many of the characters were based/named after real people in his class (honorary mention to his son for inspiring Percy) like nico,beckendorf,Miranda,etc

Personally i immediately jump into the HOO series after PJO and that is no problems! But I just dont want you to miss out on The Kanes books either! I love those books and I feels like it tend to get ignore a lot by th overall fandom

I’M SO HAPPY YOU LOVED THE BOOKS!! a lot of the things u brought up made me very emotional :’) i’d personally recommend reading HOO before TKC but it doesn’t really matter! though nico shows up in HOO so if you want to see more of him… 😎

One of them (in the Demigod Files) may or may not come up again in a completely unexpected way. 👀 (I didn’t read any beforehand and was stuck there thinking that I must have forgotten something. I still haven’t read all the short stories because I literally don’t know where to find them all, but that lack of cohesive compilation is another story.)
OMG!! You should totally read the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy. They've got people of colour, includes lgbtq+, amazing representation, includes sadness, emotion, triumph and power! There is an amazing bonding and some badass woman!
this brought me back to memories when I've read this series and got angry by cliffhangers, soft for nico, amazed by all the amazing power developments they've had.. btw, I'm claiming the Hypnos Cabin!!!
I sugest continuing with Heros of Olympus because the story of it picks up few months after The Last Olympian and yes Nico is back from the second book onwards. But if you want more Nico content you have to continue after Heros of Olympus with Trials of Apollo.
i don’t know if you like musicals, but there’s one for the lightning thief that’s pretty good and definitely better than the movie! i would recommend giving it a listen because it’s a lot of fun and it’s obvious everyone who worked on it was just having a good time

I would definitely recommend reading Kane Chronicles next, a lot of people tend to leave it behind and I know you'd get to it anyway but I feel like it's best to read between Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus idk. There's also a cute trilogy of short series where annabeth and percy meet the kiddos from Kane Chronicles and it comes after the kane books, I definitely recommend that too!!

I think that Rick is really good at writing kids because he was a middle school teacher for years AND he has kids himself, so idk, maybe he was just around them so much as an adult that he really understands their perspective. Love the reviews by the way, your hilarious😂

My boyfriend begged me to read the books for years and nearly 4 years later I finally sat down and read them for the first time this year and oh my god what a masterpiece. The books were so good! Last Olympian was my fave with my fave character being Percy and Nico - I’ve began reading heroes of Olympus, on the first book. I’m so excited to read them!
I just listened to all 15 of the Percy Jackson main series audio books and they are SO gold! The Trials of Apollo was probably my favorite, I thought it was so hilarious. I’m onto Rick’s Norse Mythology series now because I just love his writing style, inclusion, and sense of humor!!!

I got the hardcover version of that box set and it is so pretty!!!!!!!!!! my favourite way to display it is with a bunch of seashells because the *vibes*
My boyfriend begged me to read the books for years and nearly 4 years later I finally sat down and read them for the first time this year and oh my god what a masterpiece. The books were so good! Last Olympian was my fave with my fave character being Percy and Nico - I’ve began reading heroes of Olympus, on the first book. I’m so excited to read them!

I just listened to all 15 of the Percy Jackson main series audio books and they are SO gold! The Trials of Apollo was probably my favorite, I thought it was so hilarious. I’m onto Rick’s Norse Mythology series now because I just love his writing style, inclusion, and sense of humor!!!
I reread the series recently with all the hype around the show and while Bianca’s death scene didn’t make me cry, the scene where NICO FINDS OUT😭😮💨 no thank you I’m sobbing

About what series to read next, you can’t go wrong with either series. Both the Kane chronicles and Heroes of Olympus are great series
