Got my Tavor TS12 recently and as I was going through the manual, found a warning on which chokes are recommended and which could cause damage/injury with using slugs... plus void the warranty. @@PeaK808 New to shooting the TS 12. Appreciate your video on cleaning this Peak 808 ! The local indoor range requires I shoot slugs. So the 1st range day shooting Sauk rifled slugs 1 1/8 oz @ 1394 fps. Shot 90 of these rounds & really a lot of smoke emitted from these slugs. So I got home to clean it & found the gas cylinder piston was completely seized. Took off the retainer on the gas cylinder & big chunks of lead fell out ! The cylinder piston was completely stuck in place by lead deposits. Was not sure how to proceed with getting all this lead out of the cylinder so I sent it back to IWI in PA. The Gunsmith @ IWI said to use a lead " softener " / then a cleaning brush chucked in a cordless drill to clean out the cylinder. I think a penetrating oil to loosen that lead was used to start the process. So I was amazed all the lead could end up going into the gas chamber but THAT was what happened in my TS 12 shooting slugs. I think a cleaning after about 20 shots with these slugs is all I'll do next range day. I took pictures & documented everything so its on file.

    I'm sure it's a simple question but I just got mine and it's currently disassembled. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't putting lube in the wrong places and I hadn't seen a video specifically touch on it.
    Thanks!

      Aloha e my friend! So sorry for the late reply!
      I’ve been asked this a few times and will be making a video covering this soon. In the meantime, I’ll try to help you out the best I can from here.
      I’m one of those guys who doesn’t like to run my guns wet. I believe that it gives more opportunities for dirt, debris, and fouling to stick to and accumulate.
      When you field strip your TS12, there is an action bar the bolt rides on. I put a few drops of oil along this bar, as well as one to two drops of oil on the bolt itself.
      And that’s it!

    • @InfiniteTranscendence
      @InfiniteTranscendence 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeaK808 I absolutely thank you for the help! When I get a new gun I am like a toddler and like to ask a lot of questions to make sure I got it right.
      I did oil my bolt and the "rail" it sits on. I did rub the oil on it which I guess was bad for the bolt and I should have just dropped some oil where the "screws" were.
      I heard some say they oiled the carrier and other parts when they were breaking in if it wasn't working. I didn't mess with that as I didn't want to do too much.
      Definitely looking forward to your video! You do a great service for this amazing gun.

    Hello brother 👋 when I was cleaning my ts12 for the first time after shooting it for the first time, I noticed a little piece of metal when I removed the receiver. Turns out it's a piece of the bushing that goes to the trigger group where the pins go through.. contacted iwi and about to send it back for a repair.. Aloha Brother! Love your videos!! Question, I’ve thoroughly cleaned my TS12, but still have one problem, my magazine locking lever always gets stuck, iwi said to use my fire finger and middle finger too knuckle to press the center, but it’s still an effort. I’m shooting it for the first time in July, and was hoping to break it in so I can use it with one finger like you do in your videos. Any advice on how to fix this. Mahalo!!

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aloha nō my friend! I’m sorry to hear you’re having this issue, but you’re definitely not the first. My TS12 didn’t have any problems with the mag release but a few of the other subscribers on the channel did, as well as my uncle who went out and purchased one after seeing a couple of my videos.
      It’s a bummer to go through the hassle, but it’s a pretty simple fix. Sometimes there can be build up on the button itself OUTSIDE of the frame which can be easily hit with a small, fine file.
      If that’s not the case, disassemble your TS12 (I have a video on that if you need a reference) and once you have everything exposed, check out the mag catch to see where it is rubbing on the frame and hanging up. Hit it with that file little by little until it moves smoothly.
      I hope this helps🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾 let me know how it goes or if you need anything I might be able to help with.

      @@PeaK808 Your breakdown video is how I found your channel since TH-cam recommended it. I was really hoping the inside had a thin metal lining like a Glock magazine but it probably doesn't need it and I'm worrying about nothing. I'm trying to get one or two more "fun guns" before the state I call home lays down the ban-hammer. Right now, I'm attempting to decide between the Tavor TS12 or the KUSA KS-12 for a shotgun. Thanks for replying, it's much appreciated.

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Steamrunner right on!
      I was a little taken a back when I saw the magazines were completely polymer as I also expected for them to be made with some type of metal liner in them as well. Ive been through over 1600 shells (I’ve been working on that video for a while, but I promise it’s coming) and no issues with the tubes or followers so far.
      It is a bit of a drag in my mind that the tubes can’t be disassembled for cleaning, but I’ll cross that bridges when I come to it. Sorry, I personally haven’t figured out a way to disassemble the tubes, it may be possible, but in the time I’ve had mine I haven’t been able to figure them out.
      I’m not a huge fan of mag fed shotguns, but the KS12 definitely LOOKS super cool, and it is a lot of fun to shoot, I think it comes down to what you’re looking for as the KS12 has that control familiarity of the AK if you’re coming from that platform already, while the TS12 is very intuitive, but is very, very unique.
      Best of luck my friend! I’d like to know what you scoop up in the end, but I think either way you go, you’ll have a winner!🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

      You might be the first channel I've come across who has put more than a hundred or so shot shells through their TS12, and shown where to really focus when cleaning. I'm glad TH-cam recommended me a channel that wasn't another T&E review. I'll be looking forward to your next review.

      It only ever happened to me with that particular (3 boxes) of ammunition.
      Were you able to remedy this malfunction?

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aloha nō!
      As long as I run ammunition that is to specifications (1200fps and 1 1/8 oz) and keep the firearm well maintained, it has been totally reliable.
      I am nearing the 2k round count and all is well🤙🏾
      BUT, if you’re not into maintaining your firearms regularly, this isn’t the one for you. IN MY EXPERIENCE, the gas cylinder needs to be cleaned every 400 rounds or so. It gets very dirty and eventually will lead the FTEs if you don’t clean it well.
      It is a simple process, but a process nonetheless.
