    Very interesting cap band on that 100. In particular, the thin rings that appear to have a level of chatoyancy of their own.

      Yes I do like the chatoyance around the cap bands.

    I am really unable to understand how companies making such beautiful pens run out of business. The same thing can be said about the closure of Sheaffers pen company at Fort Madison, Iowa, Parker pen factory at Wisconsin and New Haven. Sheaffers used to make such lovely pens like the Targa, Balance etc. Parker pens of the 60s and 70s were fabulous. The quality of these brands made elsewhere leave much to be desired.

      I think there's a number of factors, I think there's the economic downturns that are partially to blame, but also many companies get a little blaze about how much they can charge for their pens. We're seeing pen prices increase a lot over the last few years, especially with the demise of Omas and some pen manufacturers charging more and more for their pens. I think it's probably only a matter of time until there's a culling of the herd and we'll see more go under in what has become such a niche market. As with most markets, it's usually the larger companies that fall to the ground a lot quicker and harder than the smaller companies.

    Hi Dave, Yo u show these off very nicely and they do look good. But without a writing test it's not the best of reviews. It would have been good to see the converter too. Still worth the watch. Thanks.

      Hi Kevin, yes this review is 3 years old, I wasn't doing writing samples on the reviews back then. I do need to do a proper review of each of these pens at some point, it's on my radar just trying to find time to do it. Hopefully soon!

      @@PenultimateDave I shall have a look through your vlogs. I must have been being brief - It is a superb vlog for all of that. Thank you. They do look superb... One day, but first I need a bigger piggy bank.

    Great video, Dave. Those Churchills look incredible. How large is one uncapped compared to a Homo sapiens? And how does the Bock nib perform?

      Thanks! I'll have to take a photo and post it to Instagram, not a lot of differnece in terms of length. The Bock nib is quite nice but very different (not as springy/bouncy) as the Bock gold nibs on the Visconti's I have. Otherwise very smooth.

      Loving your vids! What you recommend which is similar to a Homo Sapiens writing wise? I’m looking for a smooth and wet writer. Doesn’t have to be a Conway Stewart.

    Would a Bock 250 nib unit screw into the Churchill or does Bespoke use a different housing instead of the standard Bock housing?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe they are standard Bock. I know they won't interchange with the Visconti Bock nibs and those are proprietary.

      Penultimate Dave thanks for the tip. Yeah I've already tried putting a Visconti nib with a Bock feed and housing, and the fit just wasn't right. If I can put one of my preferred Bock nibs on one of these Churchill's though, then I may consider getting one.
