I think your honesty and the way you support customers who have bought a car from you will be the foundations for your ultimate success. Sometimes you pay forwards on the basis you get it back. Think the fact you shared the story as well will mean ppl seek you out to buy their next car, knowing you’ve got their back.
Your customer after sales service is excellent. IMHO credibility in business is paramount and if you continue to treat people with this kind of care you will be very successful. Word of mouth the best advert of the lot. 👍

A Ghibli is only going one way quickly, an E-Type Jag on the other hand may have just been an investment. In addition I would imagine that the person they inherited the money from wasn't driving around in a Maserati and had accumulated the wealth over their life for it to be diss-respectfully squandered. If it had been carefully spent then maybe 'their' kids could have also benefitted from it.
Given time these cars will go up in value as are 3200 gt's are and gt's are. I am sure there would have been a time when E types were in the same bracket. Plus, that's if these people were telling the truth, because from the full story they don't cover themselves in glory, and then had the cheek to ask for discount on the car they were buying as a replacement, personally I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them and I wouldn't have left them a fiver if they were related to me.

This is a great advert for your integrity and I'd buy a car from you anytime. I love the look of the Ghibli but this saga just confirms all the horror stories. I'll keep an eye on your stock as it's definitely the type of thing I'm interested in.
Several lessons here Don't sell anything without pdi and service Don't sell Maserarti cars they are trouble Always get the car back and leave loan car and you find someone to repair it not allow customers to dictate to you.. At the point he didn't turn up I would have said you need to take it and get it diagnosed. That way you could have potentially walked away without doing anything
Sounds to me that they changed their minds, probably people said to then they are unreliable and cost a fortune to run, and they have seen an opportunity and taken it. After they didn't bother to turn up at the appointment you made I would have washed my hands off it, people need to take responsibility for their own actions.
Hi Rob, great channel. I think you did the right thing. It sounds like the issue’s would have continued! Good service and referrals will come off the back of it. However I would be careful that your TH-cam channel and business social media aren’t connected. Eg not to promote your TH-cam channel as this is “behind the scenes” or have two channels. The work you have done to keep that customer happy could be undone with your video review, they may or may not appreciate the video 😂 IMHO.

Rob, new subscriber here & loving your content, i can understand the customers frustration but you did all you could to rectify the problem but i think your legal team could have helped you a little or a lot more, keep the great content up Rob.
Once they missed the appointment and drove to Mull, I would have dug my heals in. Also when they bought it without getting it serviced or whatever, You should have said that would not be warranted!
Good story. I think you did the right things ! However it was stacked against you as soon as the owner ignored the repair booking. Most people are not experienced or suited to run an exotic car like that. There is a high chance of problems it’s not going to be reliable.
Best to have done the service first, scan for pending codes, they could have been turned off prior, scanner will tell which bank the sensor is, basically the faults were simple ones that could affect any car, don't start going to court, I was all gung ho last year over a land rover, went to court, judge totally sided with the customer, in fact judge had absolutely no idea about cars and basically didn't listen to me, ended up going to the Isle of Wight for the car, 300 miles, customer wouldn't give me the v5, flat battery and then wouldn't tell the court I'd paid so I'd end up with a ccj, avoid court, just not worth it, tbh you've basically had it up to six mths and if on finance basically forever, great videos by the way.
Wrong... I have a 2020 Maserati levanti gts and it's been a dream. No issues. Find a good mechanic and get a good warranty. That's it. If you maintain these cars correctly, it will be just as reliable as any well maintained car. The same goes for Mercedes, bmw, Audi etc etc...
Love Maserati but jeez that's expensive to fix .. I had a rare Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider which had a fan relay that regularly went faulty because of where it would hang down , it either got too hot in summertime or too wet in winter .. I put a waterproof bag over it and never had an issue ever again .. Loved that lil 🚀 .. Keep them standard , with not too many crazy mods to Up the bhp and they run lovely ..had mine for 8 years of total bliss
People dont realize .you cant overheat these cars..you must monitor your gages .and service them properly..they are a great engine but need a little extra care..its not a honda or toyota...its a ferrari built high performance engine
So they bought something they know nothing about, couldn't afford in the first place, can't afford to maintain, didn't read the manual, drove it contrary to what they were told, put their ignorance on email and than expect the dealer to accommodate them! What a C's.
The facelift Quattroporte is pretty much my dream car, and you see them for sale for £15k, but then you hear about things like £500 02 sensors 😂 it's easy to forget affordable buying price does not mean that's it's not still a proper exotic with the parts availablity and price tag to match 😢
Why didnt you read the live data for the o2 sensors. 2 see which bank is not operating properly instead of just putting sensors on..and guessing..it should of thrown a code which tells you which bank...then read the data..

Any prestige Italian Car is always trouble. They are notorious for it. I know from bitter experience that every few months I was either going to be limping home with a warning light on or waiting for recovery. Never again!! The only reason manufacturers get away with such unreliability and shoddy quality is because Foolish Deluded Customers buy the cars.
And, from experience, if a certain make or model get a bad reputation, it's always totally justified. As a buyer I have often fallen into the trap of thinking, 'well they probably aren't that bad' only to discover that, yes, they are.
Last thing you want is court. Takes forever Court bills are massive They nearly always side with the customer, as you are the professional. Where you went wrong was not sticking to doing the service yourself and wanting the quick sale. Stich in time saves nine. Taking the provlem car back and clearing down the problem qill save yoj lots of headache, time and loss. At least you can draw a line and move on
Are most Maserati's low mileage due to the return legs being on a transporter? Seriously though, chap sent you the picture of the handbook saying don't drive the car with the light on then drove it on holiday on quite demanding roads.....that is a new level of irresponsibility.

When at a Peugeot dealer we had a lady estate agent turn up in the showroom one lunchtime to buy a new 205 CTI, but only if it could be delivered the same afternoon. As this was pre internet it meant we had to PDI, register and tax the car in a big rush (always a long queue at the licensing office). We did it, but she proved to be forever a huge pain in the a*se, everything had to be done immediately, no ifs or buts.
I used to work next to a very good mechanic, same industrial estate. A local guy had one of these, I said 'that's gorgeous', he replied, 'You'd not want it, it's crap'. That car was in getting repaired every other week without fail, sounded gorgeous though.
It's not because its a Maserati - that could happen with any car - its the customer. Bereavement, inheritance, business doing well and swaps it for an grey Audi he had his eye on? Just a chancer after something to run up to Mull in. You can get parts from Scuderia parts in the UK. If you're having to go to a dealer use Nottingham and avoid Edinburgh at all costs.
I feel for you pal . In 1st place shouldn't have let them buy it instantly as you was in the process of doing a major service on it.. oh well lesson learnt I guess .that would have covered you a little more

General question to anyone. I was thinking of getting a 2019 ghibli in petrol, I have enough to buy it outright and afford insurance and tax and whatnot. For now all I’ve heard is good things about the ghibli until this video, is the ghibli reliable and these guys just didn’t respect it or should I go for a Beamer and not risk it?
The problem started when you did not follow your own pre sale procedures. Get the car serviced, checked and then pass it on to the customer. I suspect that you rushed through the deal because the customer was in a rush. I do not think it's a question of next time "dig your heals in", more like next time don't get rushed into a sale.
You make a fair point. However I had personally road tested it and it was fine, we had MOT’d it prior to listing and it was fine. So whilst I agree with what you’re saying, cars can have issues at any point, this unfortunately was in his ownership not ours. Saying this, you have a point and we did learn from it. 👍
Never ceases to surprise me, Maserati owners who buy one of the most sophisticated and advanced cars in the planet, and complain about the cost of running it. Buy a Toyota Corona, and be happy.
The only consolation I can give you is that, if I was looking to spend north of 30k on a car I would do my due diligence on the trader and in this video you come across v well so I would be quite satisfied. Not that I have north of 30k but anyway😅
You did the right thing they payed top whack and it had loads of faults ie fan,all o2 sensors and air-conditioning how much was the car 20 grand or so come on mate
They shouldn’t have bought the Maserati in the first place & gone for the Audi instead. A person like myself who’s into Italian cars will know the pitfalls & would’ve not rushed into the purchase like they did let alone drive it all the way to bloody Scotland with the EML on. Crazy!! The Audi will most likely bite the in the ass later down the line too as they aren’t as reliable as everyone thinks. No doubt they’ll be back next year asking for another refund as that’s what these types do. I’d love that Maser but outta my budget. Best of luck mate.

I’ve done it, to soft on damage to hire cars and gave deposits back to quickly. Not no more we check them over well and will not rushed .

My Gran tourismo came with a Maserati battery charger built in. In Other words not every day drivers. He bought what he couldn’t afford to run.

The Audi will most likely bite the in the ass later down the line too as they aren’t as reliable as everyone thinks.

Audi? Are you on crack?they are about the worst...some early ghiblis had issues but a lot of people like them..the f160 engine is generally quite reliable if looked after

Buy a non runner with good bodywork and paintwork. Park it in the drive and just look at it. Maybe even sit in it. But don't drive it.
