Death combos are always satisfying to look at especially on a game that has damage drop off
Tekken 7's damage scaling is nothing compared to, say, any Capcom fighting game. You'd actually need something absurd like 70 hits to start getting a decent amount of damage reduction, and if you somehow haven't KO'd an opponent after a 70-hit combo, clearly your character is severely underpowered hit for hit.

Death combo, touch of death, kill combo ahhh. I've done one with Hilde on SCV. I know how he feels. I can taste that feeling he has that, how tricky it is to pull off. Not just the combo but you have to use it and get it in. It could mean he takes damage but if the opponent is hit it's not the same. Also if I remember. When he got in the death combo, there's a heartwarming feeling.... Actually... I've almost forgot

So is there like no air recovery or counter system in this game you just have to sit there and die?
The combo system in Tekken is special in that there are 5 different types of launchers (arguably). First is a regular launcher, then screw launchers, bounds, then floor breaks and wall breaks. Essentially, for each combo, you cannot do more than one type of launcher, otherwise your combo will end by the game making it impossible to continue your combo. However, for floor breaks and wall breaks, you can do as many as you want. Howard Estate is special in that there are 4 successive wall breaks in close proximity, so this sort of thing was intentional in design. Some other stages have 1 or 2 breaks, but most don't. The only one that has as many stage breaks is Forgotten Tower, which is a similar idea, but with floor breaks instead of wall breaks.

I'll answer your question since the other guy didn't. No there is no break away option from combos, once you get launched, you're not leaving the air until the combo is over or if the opponent drops it.

@@EyeBeZombie It's honestly not, considering the game is all about respect and capitalizing off of openings by doing big damage punishes. Essentially the game actually rewards you for opening your opponent up, (instead of them having a get out of jail free card) and depending on how well you've mastered your character and the stages, determines how much damage you'll be able to do off of big punishes. There's always other fighting games out there if that's not your cup of tea. MK11 is a game that has a breakaway system as well as other interesting mechanics like flawless blocking, I play it as well (though switching back and forth is a bit weird at first)

Hello TMM! First off I want to thank you for your lectures on Tekken. I’m am brand new to the fighting game genre and they have helped me grow as a fighter. I would like to ask you: After I land a move that grants me frame advantage (I.e. +6) sometimes my opponent will still be able to hit me first even if my next move is fast like a jab. I’ve realized that this is because I struggle knowing exactly when my recovery frames are over so that I can begin my next attack as soon as possible. Is there any advice you can give me to help with this hesitation?
Tekken has a small input buffer, so if you aren't frame-perfect your buttons can still come out as soon as you recover.
I recommend recording a bot to block briefly, and then mashing 1 with a turbo button (or just very fast), so that you can push 1 for +frames (assuming your character has a +on-block jab), then jab again to make sure you're getting the timing right.
In theory, if you're + and you jab, the only buttons that should beat you are things that would avoid/crush the jab.
Make sure you have frame data viewer on while you practice. Hope that helps.
