What I look for is a deviation in how the ball rolls off the cue ball. The biggest indicator is the emblem on the ball or the stripe on a striped ball will sort of "catch" when the CB makes contact, and won't simply glide off as in a normal, clean cut shot. As always, Dr. Dave has an excellent video on the subject: th-cam.com/video/IfWawQYDdPA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7HU9NmgCB_IY97v1
@14 minutes - The jump shot consideration... it looked like the 5 ball was more than half the distance (farther away from the cue ball and slightly closer to the object ball), which usually results in the cue ball going off the table. I mention this just in case you don't already know the "Half-the-Distance Rule" for jump shots. Fedor is the only guy I wouldn't bet against on that shot.
Good question! Hitting the shots with a bit more pace will help. Outside spin can also help. You'll see many pros approach the common 9-ball at the bottom of the table cut into the corner with low-outside. Not only minimizes skid, but also eliminates the possibility of a scratch.
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BN2JB3YS (not an Affiliate link) I *love* this thing. Super light, easy to use, never fails. The only issue is that sometimes I'll knock into something metal in the pool room (like my chair), and the chalk can cling to that instead of the holder. Otherwise, it's ace.
Ah jeez. Yeah, tempo is tough sometimes. I can recommend just jumping ahead (double tap on the right side of the phone screen), or just left and right arrow keys on the keyboard!
Wow, this was an exercise in concentration! All the motion around the table was crazy.
It was pretty chaotic in there! Thankfully, I was able to stay level and get it done.
can you explain what you saw on the last shot that implies it skid?

gg, considering you were playing right next to a baby, toddler, and shuffleboard. Robert has a decent strike for a 349, so good on him.
Thanks, Adam. I agree Robert is probably underrated. That room...allows for lots of opportunities to work on playing through distractions.

Good call. It definitely seemed too risky. I'll have to look into that rule and get to know my jump limits! Cheers.
Fargo is pretty slow getting scores updated. Must be a personnel situation. Great video again, Anthony. Thanks.
Hoping the score updates soon. Thanks!
How do you hit shots to minimize skid, I seem to have more shots do that than I’d like, lol!

@ ok, thanks! I definitely notice it less with backspin vs topspin, hadn’t paid much attention to how side spin impacts things though!
What magnetic chalk holder are you using? Do you like it?

A lot of traffic. Where were you playing?
This was at an American Legion. Pretty chaotic in there most nights, but it doesn't bother me like it did before.
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I AM!
I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I
Couldn’t watch this one very long. Cant stand watching the slow play from Robert.
