Excellent review! I'm also happy to finally see a review of this from someone who ACTUALLY understands the real purpose of the stop box! You rock and gave me that last little bit of information I needed before I purchased!

I'm ordering this next week. I was sceptical, but the more reviews I see the better it looks. I like that it can be used at home, in the car, and for flights.
I also wanted to ask if you're still planning to do a follow-up on the Mantis video. I noticed comments were turned off. Do you think it helped your shooting and is worth buying? Thanks!

@@JeremyCouch I didn't notice comments were turned off!!! Yes! I actually had to step away from shooting, and I'm recording a new update now on how it can improve aim! I'll be posting it soon!!! Thank you for the support my friend

For the price, I'd rather spend just a bit more and buy a vaultek. Just my personal opinion

A co worker and I split the cost since you get two for "the price of one". Definitely a good value for my purpose.

Wish they used more metal for it's construction.

I can fit 3 magazines in the pro. If you turn yours around so its parallel, you should fit two side by side and then one in the gun.

I have 3 of those same Sentry safes and after about 2 years, they’re awful and useless. The lid hydraulics/strut fail miserably and the safe no longer pops open. You then need to pry the top with something to get it to open. Good luck with that in an emergency. Batteries don’t last in those safes either. Now I only use them for long term storage and open them with a key. I will try the Stopbox Pro out for bedside.

Why use the code when you could just use the biometric finger print reader? You can't say it's not equally as fast because you never even showed yourself opening it up with that method. I would appreciate the review more if you weren't so obviously biased against the Sentry safe.

Comparisons like this are uninformed and pointless. You don’t have to choose between security and fast, reliable access. If you insist upon a mechanical only solution, companies like American Security, Fort Knox, Steelhead, V-Line, and Viking have offered superior options featuring heavy gauge steel and Simplex locks for years.
With only 81 combinations, a child could easily access the StopBox within a few minutes by trial and error. It’s not intended to serve the same purpose as a bedside safe, which, in many cases, contains a loaded, unattended gun around the clock, day after day. The StopBox is for temporary storage of a gun that remains in the owner’s presence during use (ex., transportation to a range).

I mean, how did you thought that using a defective safe for the comparison will make this review strong? Now, go compare a Vaultek with that piece of cheap plastic. Stopbox looks like a cool idea but somehow flimsy.

Only at the end of the day so I guess useless at the end of the night

You can get a cable to attach the box to a solid fixture. You define it as a firearm retention device. You mention that it is not meant to keep a gun safe from theft yet it is designed to keep it out of the hands of intruders or children. So just what is useful for. Make up your mind. If you leave a gun in it are you not storing your gun in it? The folks at Stop Box told me the Stop Box is not meant for storage. If you cannot use it for storage what use is it? Its a play on words no matter how you look at it.

Thanks for the comment, I hope this clears it up - This product, as stated on the box it comes in, is a Firearm Retention Device. You are correct, you can get a cable and attach it to a 'solid fixture' but it doesn't have anchor spots, like an actual safe does. its plastic. anyone can break it, take the gun, or the entire box and run away.
This is useful for 2 things. Keeping small children out of your weapon, yet still having it available in the case of an intruder and to keep it out of unwanted guests hands with still having your weapon available in an open space.
For example, if you carry a gun every day and you don't have kids. and every day you get home, put your gun on top of the microwave and relax on the couch until the next morning that's not a problem. But if you have friends over, you don't want that gun sitting on top of the microwave for anyone to play with, but you still might want it available if you need it. It is there to protect your life after all....
With this product, you can invite friends over for dinner, put your gun on top of the microwave in a stop box, and not have to worry about someone touching it out of curiosity and getting hurt or worse.
Secondly to your (very direct) question, No, this is not to store your gun. That is what a safe is for. This is meant for having your firearm next to you in the time of need, while also keeping it out of reach of unwanted guests. Not to mention, you certainly CAN store a gun in it, but that is a very loose term. Are you 'storing' it for a year without touching it? then no - use a safe. Are you storing it throughout the week and nights when you travel? then yes, not a problem.
Again, this is a Gun RETENTION device. NOT a safe. Those are two different things
      I hope this helped.

No you just are not understanding it. It’s meant for keeping it by your bed at night while you’re in the room are you in the house or sleeping Next to you. It’s meant to keep the kids from just picking it up and carrying it walking away with it or using it but it’s also meant to be for you to easily open up to defend yourself. You still should have a proper gun safe for storage when you’re not going to be home or you can leave it in this and hide it somewhere, that’s what I plan to do. It’ll take someone to hell of a long time to figure out where it is so maybe you should do some research or walk around your house and use your imagination
