Great content and informational video. I primarily carry appendix, but what concerns me is physical confrontations can be a problem carrying that way, because you can’t blade your body as well as you could carrying strong side. It is a lot easier to keep some from taking your pistol carrying strong side in a physical confrontation vs appendix. At least if the fight goes to the ground you can lay on your gun.

One hand can be done AIWB. There are pros and cons to any position.

Climate and attire also should be addressed as CCW positions. Most anyone can carry a massive gun anywhere on your body when you're wearing a heavy flannel and jacket and baggy tactical pants. In Nevada, Arizona and hot weather places, most people wear t-shirts and shorts 9 months a year and huge guns on the hip (or anywhere) covered with jackets and long shirts just scream..GUN GUN GUN! Plus, size and body shape, age and flexibility play a part. 3pm is most comfortable for me but I print like crazy. Same with 4pm , so for ME it's down to 1-2:30pm.

Exactly. No way he carries that massive setup in just a summer tshirt. Glock 26 or Sig p365 for me. Appendix or 4 o clock, either is fine, as neither of those guns have a massive grip.

@@jlinka79it’s totally doable. I carry a 5” M&P with rmr and tlr-1 HL appendix everyday. I live in Alabama and wear t shirts most days. It’s my only pistol and I don’t miss a day carrying. Find the right holster for your body and with different claws and wedges, you can hide just about any rig.

@@christoperdevore3617Same, my 5" MP2.0 is the most comfortable carry I have and very concealable with jeans and shirt. More than a 4" PDP or even a G43x for me, because the first prints more (thick magbase) and the later flips out of position because its too small.

@@Shadow__133 if you don’t already follow the Phlyster channel, you should. He makes the Floodlight holster and considers his company a concealment technology company more than a holster company. They constantly put out great informational videos on tools and techniques for better concealment. The effect with the shorter slides is aptly named the keel effect and explains why longer slides conceal better and are more comfortable for a lot of us.
Also, I’m 6’2” and 220 with hands bordering on 3x. That’s why I now stick to duty sized firearms. And bonus, if I ever need it, it’s a fighting pistol.

Personally, I think it’s just a fad…is it faster? That’s debatable I saw a video the other day in a gun shop, one of the employees said it was “full size carry day” at their particular shop…all 8 employees he asked to show what they were carrying were appendix…also can’t get comfortable carrying iwb anywhere but hip but also am practiced for years carrying strong side.

Agreed. I started carrying years ago when strong side was the norm. I’ve habituated to that position and naturally reach there. I just don’t want to have to change at this point in life. Disadvantage of appendix is that every time you seat that barrel may be pointing a part of your lower body.
Disadvantage of strong side is if you injure your strong hand it’s going to take a lot more time to reach with your opposite hand. Like everything, there are pros and cons for each one and you should always do what works best for you

The whole thing about being worried someone will go for your weapon when you’re plainclothes on duty or off and carrying concealed as a civilian,is a moot point. No one will know when you carry concealed-it’s a force multiplier to be carrying with way.

I started carrying AIWB, but never liked carrying against bare skin. Consequently, I've worn a tucked-in lightweight lycra type short-sleeved base layer and changed to a high & tight strong side OWB carry tucked up just under my ribs, slightly forward of 3 O'Clock and canted forward. Works for me. I usually employ a button-down cover shirt unbuttoned in most situations. Blackpoint Tactical holster and Sig X-Macro TacOps variant.

So it’s a personal decision and only I can determine what’s right for me so…
I carry concealed inside appendix without one in the chamber
First scenario is to avoid fights . If you get in a fight, you’ve already failed your first priority. I also Kary a flip assist knife if I was in a fight that close…
If I carry outside the waistband, I or a bigger gun inside my waistband i carry one in chamber on a double action, single action gun at 4 o’clock.,

Should I Carry Strong Side or Appendix?
Personal preference but you should know the dangers of appendix belly carry before you use that carry position. The pistol points at/muzzles the femoral artery in the legs. Personally I use other carry positions.

  • @joshuafreeman4459

The pros on appendix tend to be mentioned a lot more than than the cons, i.e. the pros of strong. One thing I notice from watching real encounters and reading about them. The ability to covertly draw is 10x more important and relevant than being able to draw quickly. And you tend to give that ability up when carrying appendix. As well when trying to draw in combatives. The opponent tends to be able to stuff your draw much more easier. I agree all in all strong, tends to be better for fighting. Appendix tends to be faster and easier to conceal.

    • @aricwormsbecher2138
      @aricwormsbecher2138 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Appendix can be better in a fight, it may be easier to stuff an appendix draw but get pushed into a wall a corner, a bar or the wrong side or flat back on the ground and draw strong side. AIWB is more accessible from more angles.

    • @joshuafreeman4459

@@aricwormsbecher2138 I would say that is somewhat true, but way overstated. I’ve put that very thing to the test on the mats and it’s not anywhere near as bad as what most people say. But can definitely be a factor

@@joshuafreeman4459 I think everyone should carry how they're comfortable, honestly a j frame in a pocket holster is how I do a lot in hot summer weather in the south, which isn't ideal for anything except having some gun when you need it.

  • @petert8807

Totally agree with strong side being better for me, due to my belief that most deadly force encounters will start with an aggressor going hands on or grabbing at me. If I carry appendix, they can easily block my draw hand/arm when I attempt to draw. I like being able to turn my body and make it so that I am the only one who can easily access the weapon.
