One of the most intelligent movies I have ever seen in my life. Especially the world building with all the little details regarding mentality is absolutely flawless. For example I like how no one in Gattaca seems to be able any more to recognize people by a photograph - simply because all the face are more of less the same (perfect and emotionless), and all that matters anyway is the genetic code.

2:33 The doctor may have already known Vincent was posing as Jerome by this moment. He was probably talking Vincent up to improve the way others thought of him

Absolutely adore how so many external factors came about to shelter Vincent from being discovered. His brother posing obstructions in the way of his Superior, Lamar bypassing the revealing of his in-valid status during the tests.

@@FindingMyself90 the potential represents what a person can become as the ideal. Ideal is not something that can be exceeded, otherwise it would not be the ideal. The moment you exceed the ideal, it means that the ideal was not the ideal in the first place. This is the point the director is making in the scene.

I wonder if the mission director at least suspected "Jerome" of being an in-valid, but judged him by merit as being worthy of going up. He appears to believe in the system, but doesn't treat it as infallible.
